Re: Wednesday Ticker Change - 6/19

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    12weeks, toy soldier

    2) How are you feeling?
Not too bad. Nausea and restless legs in the evenings. Still super tired.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
We don't know yet. I just look extra chunky. All my clothes are getting pretty tight.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week was my first appt so that was fun! My next is nearly 4wks away.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
It's been really fun having everyone know about the pregnancy and not having to try to hide it anymore!

    6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently?
Taco salad, I make it a ton. Also something we call strawhats. You crush chips on the bottom, layer on meat mixture, top with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 16 weeks, hand grenade

    2) How are you feeling? Much better. I still have icky days, but it isn't debilitating.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
We don't know the sex yet and I hope we don't find out. I have a noticeable bump. Not much of it is baby yet if I were to guess.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? I had a prenatal visit last week that went well. I have to do some routine thyroid blood work tomorrow. Nothing else planned until August.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm over all the gas and bloat. I didn't have this as much with DS.

    6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently? Supper. This cracks me up. Where I grew up it was breakfast, dinner, supper. Living on the East Coast, it is dinner these days.
Go-to dinner in the Summer would be grilled meat of some kind and some fresh veggies. We're simple folks during the week.
  • @jakobaby Ha! I originally wrote dinner, as that's what I call it. But I hear some people call lunch, dinner (which is wrong, of course!) ;)
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 16 weeks! Going by my bump, the baby is the size of a walrus.

     2) How are you feeling? Great! I would just like more sleep! Work is so ughhhhh.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Yes! The baby is a boy and I have DEFINITELY started showing. My doctor showed me where the top of my uterus was last week and it is high already. Definitely not a FTM.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Last week—it was super boring just how we like them! Next week I have a for fun elective US!

     5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Thinking about the fall has me so excited! There is going to be so much excitement and anticipation around Thanksgiving and Christmas! I also would be lying if I said I was not looking forward to 12 weeks home with the kids!

     6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently? Spaghetti, shepard’s pie (vegan), and vegan lasagna.

  • @EmilyLove25 I'm thinking about the fall so much lately too. I can't wait to be a big pregnant lady during the holidays. I don't even know what the appeal is specifically, but looking forward to that! Also can't wait for that leave time!

Anyone else get the post-holiday blues? I'm thinking the new arrival will override that this year!
  • @jakobaby YES! Exactly--not sure of the appeal (and fast forward to November--I'll complain about acid reflux and not enough space in the belly to enjoy Thanksgiving and to December and I'll complain about no energy to get ready for Xmas... but still, the lovey dovey new arrival excitement will be GREAT). I do get the post-holiday blues, but I certainly think this time it will be delayed and then will MAJORLY have the post maternity leave blues!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
14w1d today, size of a house mouse according to Ovia.

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good. Constipation is most annoying symptom at the moment.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
No, won't find out for another month or so. Hard to be sure if it is remnants of my beer belly or bump, but definitely noticing that pants are fitting differently. Not trying to show off the shape just yet, so still dressing in ways that don't make it too obvious.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
NO! After having weekly monitoring for so long, this three week stint with no appointments has been hard, but I just keep reminding myself it is because we are doing well.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I know I can take Colace as a softener, but is there anything else you STMs would recommend to combat the stomach issues? @EmilyLove25 @GraceUponGrace09 @jakobaby @mommaSG

    6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently?
HA! I don't cook very much, but I am trying to get better at it/do it more frequently. I probably make tacos the most often because they're so easy. (I grew up and still live in the south, so it was always supper at my house.)

ETA: I am definitely looking forward to the fall. It's hot as Hades here and I would really like to be able to spend more time outside without being miserable. Plus, I look forward to being past the "Is she pregnant, or did she eat too many tacos?" stage of the pregnancy.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
I am 14 wks. 2 days.  Baby is the size of a peach  :)

    2) How are you feeling?
I am feeling pretty good.  Nausea is going away.  Still pretty tired though.  The more sleep I get at night the better I feel!  The littlest things still make me weepy!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
We are having a girl.  I think I have a little speed bump forming.  My hubby keeps saying he sees it but I think he is over excited because it is our first.  I think I look like I have a food belly!  My clothes are tight and some of my skirts/dresses no longer fit.  It's coming!

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Last week we had our NT screening and was told little girl looks healthy.  I have never been so relieved.  No other appointments for the next few weeks!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am with everyone else.  Fall is my favorite season and this is the time of year I start longing for cooler temps, pretty leaves and pumpkins!  It seems to be worse this year.

    6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently?
I made sloppy joes last night and put a cucumber salad with it.  It hit the spot and not alot if dishes!  If you don't want to use bread I turn it into lettuce wraps.  Super easy and quick!
  • @fivetimesnoluck Mirolax helped me with constipation, especially toward the third trimester. I also know this is obvious and dumb to say, but I found the most relief if I would have a huge serving of veggies (pees for me) with a late dinner... next morning? I'd go no problem

  • @fivetimesnoluck I take the Miralax like @EmilyLove25 suggested. With DS, I had horrible issues that were very painful. Miralax works and it doesn't send you running to the toilet (you can walk there haha)!
I'm also having gas/bloating issues with this pregnancy. I take extra strength GasX when I can't stand it.
  • Thank you, @EmilyLove25 and @jakobaby! I was afraid of having the opposite problem if I took the wrong thing! And I also appreciate the advice for eating something that may make it easier. I have been eating a ton of fruit, but may need to step up the veggies and cut back on the ice cream. ;)

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
14 weeks yesterday. Baby is measuring ahead by a week :)
    2) How are you feeling?
Normal other than the gagging when I take my pills and brush my teeth. Also in the last few days my IBS is starting to act up,  so I'm sure that's just going to get worse  :/
    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Team Green! Stomach sticks out a little bit more, but I can still wear most of my pants. I got the Bellaband and it works okay I think if i need it later.
    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Just had my appointment this morning, heart rate was 140 so looking good! Since I'm team green, we're going to wait until 22 weeks to do the A/S ultrasound because he said we'll be able to see more. These next 2 months are going to take forever to get here! Haha
    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Talked to HR the other day and I wish I had better maternity leave benefits. In  order to get the 6 weeks of disability, I need to use all my sick and vacation time. I'll have nothing left for the rest of the year if I need to take a day off. This makes me very worried.  :#
    6) GTKY: What's one of your go-to suppers you make frequently?
Unfortunately neither of us cooks, not even a little, so frozen bag meals or going out to eat or take out is pretty much standard. Lately i haven't felt like eating dinner too often so sometimes i just eat some fruit or crackers. Also, the "supper" made me smile because DH is from Minnesota and he used to say supper when we first met  :)
