How different were your pregnancies?

I'm about 8 weeks (my estimate, I haven't been to the doctor yet) and am having mild cramping and evening nausea.  I don't remember having either of those with my first. Is that normal? I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow to see if I can get in before I leave for a trip next week, I think I'm worrying for nothing. But going to the doctor will help ease my mind I think. I have an appointment scheduled for the the 31st, fingers crossed something opens up.

Re: How different were your pregnancies?

  • My first tri is really the only time I see differences in pregnancy.  With my three boys I have had similar cravings, nausea, tiredness and aversions.  With my only daughter I felt different.  I wasn't as tired, but smells were worse and lots of veggies (I usually love vegetables) were aversions.  Especially, tomatoes.  Which is something I crave with my boys.  I felt great as long as I was actively eating.  This pregnancy makes me think it is another boy, but my nausea is way worse. I don't remember really having too much with my daughter.  Just feeling crummy with her.  My hcg might be higher with this one (doubling time is a bit faster than with my last two boys), contributing to my body not adjusting to the hormone as well, but that's just a theory.

Oh, the only time I had linea nigra was with my daughter.  I didn't have it with any of my boys.
  • This is pregnancy #2 for me. So far I have had SO much more nausea. I haven't actually gotten sick, but almost every afternoon around 3-4 it hits me. With my daughter I had only a handful of days in the beginning that I felt like this, but this is every day.

With my daughter, I had horrible morning sickness all day long (I was vomiting about 20 times a day) , major food aversions and an extremely heightened sense of smell. This time around, I've had pretty intense nausea but minimal vomiting. No food aversions yet and smells don't bother me. We'll see if anything changes!
  • @Staciefacie omg you didn't know until 19 weeks?! I can't imagine finding out im pregnant and I'm over halfway there! How did you and your SO handle that? What a crazy story!

My first was so easy, hardly any nausea and no other symptoms or issues. This one is totally different. I'm nauseous every other day, have major food aversions, super crampy, and I've had spotting from low progesterone. Every pregnancy is different, so try not to worry
  • I was so suprised to find out I was pregnant this time because I haven't felt any different whatsoever yet. I am only 4 weeks +4 but 4 weeks was when the nausea kicked in last time and well before I took my test I had breast sensitivity! So crazy that I haven't felt anything yet. I hope it's a sign that I'll have an easier pregnancy because my first was very, very difficult!
  • So far this one has been exactly the same as my first.

  • So far I'm feeling less sick this time around. I only puked two or three times last time, but I got nauseated every time I was hungry. So far no nausea, but it's still early, so we'll see.    This time I've had a super nose and those crazy vivid dreams.

Also this time Im more excited than scared shitless like I was last time!
  • With DD I felt very dizzy and lightheaded all the time starting from the very beginning. My blood pressure was also lower than usual (80s over 50s, when my normal is 90s over 60s). I also got really bad MS starting at exactly 6 weeks and had a heightened sense of smell, which contributed to it, at 3w1d, which is when I got my positive. This time I didn't test positive until 4w2d and haven't really had symptoms. My blood pressure feels normal (although I haven't had it checked), no more dizzy or lightheaded spells than what's normal for me, and I'm estimated to be 6w5d with no MS. I get queasy every now and then if I don't eat, but that's it. I have a heightened sense of smell but that never really went away after my last pregnancy.
  • 1st DS
Rhinitis, spotting,  aversion to anything spicy, or not a fruit or a veggie.  Exhausted to the point where I could literally sleep all day.  Mild nausea if I didn't eat in time.  Swelling like crazy from about 5months plus and heartburn from hell.

2nd DS-  had no idea I was pregnant until three people congratulated me in one day..( of course I was like "assholes" because anyone who has had a baby before knows that this can happen after you give birth for the next little while). I was venting to my DH about it and he thought for a minute and asked me when I had my last period.  ... I couldn't remember!  (I was about 8 weeks then)
I actually lost weight in the beginnning not beacause I was sick,  I think DS was just eating everything I consumed.  I was all baby with no swelling until the very end.  Again heartburn from hell

I head pregnancy mask and linea Negra with both pregnancies.

this one so far I have just been exhausted!  Winded if I am walking.  No real nausea except for once or twice.
  • DS- I had tolerable nausea, lots of odd cravings and our exhaustion.

This pregnancy- I simply can't look at food without becoming instantly nauseous. I'm combating feeling incredibly irritable too which is so unlike me! I want everything super clean but I'm exhausted. I'm hoping the nausea goes away. It is miserable. I feel awful for you ladies thay throw up daily.
  • This is my 6th pregnancy, I have 2 kids. My pregnancies with my Earth side babies were absolutely different. Day and night. With my son I felt good. Basically normal aside from headaches and the awful back and rib pain at the end. I ate regularly and had no aversions. Heaven. With our daughter I was so nauseated from 7-26 weeks that I MAYBE ate one "meal" (and by meal, I mean toast) a day. I had so many aversions, my skin was terrible, I was crabby, so, so crabby. TW* My 3rd pregnancy was similar to my son's. Nasty headaches but otherwise I was ok. 4th and 5th I can't really say, they ended nearly as quickly as they started. END TW.

This pregnancy is much more similar to my pregnancy with my daughter. Aversions, nauseated, can hardly drink much less eat. So much acne. I guess I don't know if I would feel THIS icky though if I weren't on Progesterone? It'll be interesting to see what we are having!
  • First one was easy breezy, second one gave me hell from the moment the sperm met the egg.. Constant cramping which turned into relentless back pain, which eventually turned into a hell spawn crazy child... This is my 6th pregnancy but will be our 3rd baby, and so far besides some minor cramping, and having to pee every 10 seconds, it has been uneventful. I noticed this time though, I had some bouts of nausea (never had it with my girls) and already am getting heartburn at 6wks pregnant which is just insane to me
