Way too early for a FB group.. Best time to even consider them is around the end of the 2nd trimester.. There's still plenty of time to get to know each other at that point. It's strange how it seems like people are trying to move to FB earlier and earlier on here.

@LivingTheDream I honestly can't remember. The group was June 2012. Most likely it was circulating on both the bump and on our Facebook page. Our group has imploded many times and has been split several times too, but I must say that the group of ladies are the best friends that I haven't met. A couple I have met.

Not a dumb question @barrelocarol! A few years ago TB started offering private groups (I'm assuming because of the exodus of a lot of people in favor of FB.) They are groups in which you must be accepted as a member to see the posts. It's just a more private offering that helps prevent lurkers.

I was on that BMB - it was full of crazy! I took a bump break for a long time after that one. I didn't even finish my pregnancy there. I did come back for my next pregnancy, but changed my username and only lurked. I'm hoping this board is a lot more sane. Lol.

I think the reason people want to start a FB group so early is because of the user experience issues on this platform- the videos that pop up out of nowhere, the ads all over, the "reply" function that is hard to understand that it's a reply, and the gif signatures- all of these make it very difficult to follow a conversation effectivelt. Facebook has figured out how to do it in a more intuitive way.

@stow2009 BUT FB is your real identity. Many people prefer to "get to know" people before giving that info to random strangers. But to each their own. And an Ad Blocker does wonders.

@becausescience Yes, I won't be joining a Facebook group for that reason. I was just answering the question above about why people want to start one so early. I think it just hits people pretty early on that this platform is difficult (even though the conversations are helpful).

I prefer fb mainly because I'm on it anyhow, so it is more convenient. I find it more conversational too.

but really, it I see the platform. @stow2009 hit the nail in the head. I don't no have space on my devices for any more apps, they are old and new ones are expensive.

Beyinf the popups, my problem is for some reason my phone and iPad can't keep up with my typing. So I type, then I sit and wait for it to show. Then the autocorrect here is weirdly horrible and autocorrects real words. Then if I delete anything, even if I carefully count taps, often it has a mind of it she own and will delete full sentences and I can tell stop it. Like right there. I wrote can't stop it and it changed .

A reply like this woukd would take me no time on fb. It took me forevvvvver here. The interface here blows and it is bad enough to make posting a chore.

I understand girls. FB groups aren't for everyone. I just personally love my October 15 Facebook group. We did start it pretty early but it was nice because we can ask each other questions about how we were feeling symptoms etc. and if you were looking for a certain thread you could just go back in and type it I feel like on here it's a lot more difficult to find things

I love FB groups, I've been in many from here and my BMB but not this early. I've seen too many crazy happen to feel comfortable giving out my name and picture to internet strangers.

If you and others want to start one early, go for it. Not everybody has to agree and join now. We can form one later on when people are more comfortable.

I feel the FB group should wait too. On my O14 board a lot of us left because it was constant bullshit. Went to Facebook then there were certain crazies that managed to hold it together until Fb and more bullshit ensued. So, I'm on team wait until way later.
