I was born on a naval base in Okinawa Japan. My Dad was in the Air Force, but the Air Force base didn't have a Labor and Delivery unit so they had to go across the island to the naval base. Okinawa is a TINY Island south of main land Japan, so getting to the other base was easy. My EDD was the 24th of Jan, and that night there was an earthquake (about a 6 magnitude) and my mom said that was what started to shake me out. Prior to that I hadn't even dropped. On the 26th, she still hadn't had any real contractions, but she lost her plug and was bleeding a bit, so she decided to go in. When they got there, someone checked my mom and found out my feet were coming out (they could feel them), so they literally told her and my dad what was happening, knocked my mom out and performed an emergency c-section. My Dad couldn't be in the room becuase they put my mom under, but when they brought me in to see my Dad, they showed him that during the c-section they cut my butt (which still has the scar on it), and wrapped me back up and gave me to him. They were also team green, so he got to tell my mom that they had a girl.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
I was a 42 weeker, apparently I was comfy. My mom had morning sickness almost every day when she was pregnant with me. She gave birth vaginally after being induced, and my dad's first words were "She's a keeper"!
My mom was sick for the first 5 months and said she could barely eat the calories they wanted her to have and yet the doctor kept telling her she was gaining too much weight. She was due Christmas day. On Oct 17 she went for an appointment and had her very first sonogram after seeing a different doctor. She was surprised to find out there were 2 babies in there. It also explained her weight gain. A few days into her 30th week she went into labor at work. They put her in the hospital and tried to stop it. The only visitor she was allowed was my dad who rushed home to shower and then drive 30 minutes to visit for just a couple hours. All her nutrients were by IV, no food at all. At 32 weeks they could no longer stop labor after 9 days in the hospital. They decided on an emergency c section as I was breech. I was born at 7:37 pm and my sister at 7:38. 4 pounds 8 oz and 4 pounds 11 oz. I think we were both around 19 inches. They cleared my sister to come home first but our pediatrician refused to seperate us. During Thanksgiving dinner they got the call they could bring us home.
Mine is not nearly as interesting as some others. Loved reading those
I was 2 days "late" and my mom had a VBAC with me after having had an emergency c-section with my brother (he was 2 weeks late and she was induced due to low amniotic fluid...after 24 hours, it just didn't progress fast enough and he went into distress). It was med-free and I came out sucking my 2 middle fingers, a habit which took me 10 years to break. They'd gone to the hospital the evening before and I was born at 9:16am at 7lbs 7oz.
@SouthernMama15 I love that the pedi wouldn't separate you guys! That's so sweet and I bet helped with thriving. ❤️
Like @littlebug2010, mine involves a natural disaster. We live in FL and there was a hurricane coming. Hurricanes are notorious for putting women into labor due to the changes in atmospheric pressure (which will be interesting for us since August is still hurricane season). Mom's water broke while she was at work at 37 weeks. She called my dad and he didn't believe her, but met her at the hospital and sure enough she was in labor! I think she labored for 10ish hours with an epidural and I was born vaginally. My sweet granddad was a pilot and flew through the hurricane to get there and meet his first grandchild. ❤️❤️
Fun fact about hurricanes and home births: if there's a hurricane and wind speeds reach a certain level, ambulances stop running (I didn't know there was ever a time they stopped running)---which means we aren't allowed to home birth. So WE have to drive out in the hurricane, not the ambulance. Bless.
I was a *SURPRISE* and gave my mom severe morning sickness for 5 months where she lost 15lbs. Her nausea apparently was so bad that my Grandmother asked my mom if she was sure she wanted to continue on with the pregnancy! (That tidbit still makes me laugh)
Sometime around the 38/39th week my mom went into labor around 8 in the morning. Since mom had a bad hospital experience with my older sister she decided on going with midwives at a birthing center for me. Apparently the med-free birth wasn't so bad because mom remembers the worst part as when the midwife reached up and moved her cervix lip out of the way. After that I arrived around 4:30pm looking like a chubby beet. Immediately I was placed on my mom's chest and pushed myself up a bit to look around the world.
My sister remembers the day as being most excellent because my grandmother brought over spaghetti and meatballs.

All I know is that I was born a couple hours after my due date at 2:48am and I came out butt first. My dad always says I came out saying "kiss my ass world!" Haha
So My birth story is not the smoothest, just fyi-more than one TW.
I was born 2 1/2 months early after my mom went into labor with me 4 times, and had been in the hospital since around 6mos when she went into labor the first time. *TW* I was a twin but my mom miscarried- they did not know at the time I was a twin, so they put her back on migraine meds, did all sorts of don't do with babies things- about 3-4weeks later they did some tests and surprise-she was still pregnant-with me! *End TW*
My mom went into labor for the first time on vacation in WI around 6mos along. and they told her she could go ambulance or helicopter to the hospital in Chicago-she went ambulance. They were able to stop the labor and my mom stayed in the hospital after that. I was born 2 1/2 months early after my mom went into labor another 4 times. I was delivered via emergency c-section b/c *TW* I had no heartbeat, but when I was born they were able to resuscitate me *end TW* I came out at about 2lbs and spent the first 2+mos in the NICU but I was a fighter and here I am.
*TW* Doctors didn't think I would talk, walk, or even make it for that matter-they told the family etc in the waiting room to prepare for the worse*end TW* I am so glad to have made it this far with my own and know she is starting out in a much better place than I did.
Knowing my story my whole life, I have always had a slight apprehension going into my own pregnancy, but I have been very lucky with how it has gone and how far along I am.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
I was born 5 min after my mom got to the hospital. With my older brother she labored for quite a while in the hospital so she figured she had plenty of time.
What she didnt account for was the traffic at the Denver Zoo for free zoo day! I was delivered by an intern who really wanted to wait for the doctor.
I was 10 days late, and the youngest of four. My mom wasn't feeling well one evening so she called my dad and said it was time to go (he owned a bar near our house). He got home 10 minutes later (left a random dude in charge of the bar)! He then picked up my mom and drove the twenty minutes to the hospital, dropped her off and dropped my siblings at my grandmas. Grandmas was about 5 minutes from the hospital so we're looking at just about 45 minutes since she called him. He arrives back at the hospital when the doctor is in the room with my mom. Mom says it's time to push. He says ma'am you've got hours! She says no, the baby is coming now. Doctor leaves the room (wasn't her regular ob). Dad sees my head immediately and screams after the doc who doesn't come back. Two pushes and my dad caught me!
My older brother and sister were overdue by 12 days and 6 days respectively. Both were born after induction. My mom's OB was planning on going on vacation to India and would have been out of the country for weeks so she was induced on her due date. I was born in four hours and that was her longest labor out of the three of us. I was also the fattest at 6lbs 6oz. Had my mom not been induced I would have been born in 1987. My family reminds me that I'm a tax deduction baby every tax season!

@mrsmatt1212 I actually have the saying tattooed on my side- across my ribcage (front to back). It is the thing my parents always said about me so, I've heard it most of my life. i have a much greater appreciation of it all going through my own pregnancy and awaiting my own daughter.
My mom had 4 girls and I am the third. All of her births were very quick, except mine. I took the longest and caused the most pain lol. Damn straight. Now I'm the best of the bunch ; )
My mom tells me all the time how easy and wonderful her pregnancy was... Until I threatened to come out at 28 weeks! She was given medication to stop her labor, and was on hospital bedrest for 4 weeks. They released her from the hospital, and then at 34 weeks she went into labor again. She and my dad drove to the hospital and she was admitted & told she had an incompetent cervix. Similar to @JDBtwinmama, my mom told the doctor I was coming - he told her there was still time, and was washing his hands when she had to push. The doctor had JUST gotten to the end of the bed as I (in mom's words) "shot out" and he caught me "like a little football." She always told people she either wanted a boy or a redhead, so at least my wispy orange curls fulfilled half her wishlist! I was in the NICU for a week before they could take me home.
My mom was actually induced because she was so large the OB thought she was overdue. No one had any idea my mother was pregnant with twins. Her OB just chalked it up her having a huge belly because she was thin and petite.
My mom started to push then they got an arm then a leg or some weird combination. I think it was the the OB realized his mistake. Situation didn't improve and my sister and I were wrapped up in each other's umbilical cords and in distress.
As a result my mom had to have an emergency C-section (vertical cut style). We were then rushed by ambulance to a hospital 45 minutes away since the one she delivered at wasn't set up for babies 4-6 weeks premature. The doctor's we're never 100% sure how early we actually were. My sister and I spent the next 3 weeks there before coming home. Sadly my mother was in the other hospital for about a week or more and didn't get to see us except for the Polaroids my dad brought her. Can't imagine what that must have been like.
Don't know much about it. I'm the youngest of 4 and my siblings all came out faster each time. 8 hours, 4 hours, 30 minutes... so they assumed they wouldn't make it to the hospital with me. I was 30 hours and she never lets me forget it. I would have been born on the 4th of July but I guess they needed some sparkle on the 5th.
All I know is my mom woke up in the middle of the night and thought labor was bad gas pain. They lived about 15 minutes from the hospital and claim I was almost born in the car. I don't know exactly what that means, like, was I out 10-15 minutes later after getting to the hospital, or is that one of those fun exaggerations, not sure. But my birth was overall quick after figuring out the pain was labor. My older sister was apparently a fairly short experience too- fewer than 7 hours of labor if I recall correctly.
I am praying that my mother's fertility genetics are alive and well in me and I have short labors too...!
All I know is that I was born a couple hours after my due date at 2:48am and I came out butt first. My dad always says I came out saying "kiss my ass world!" Haha
LOL! DH was breech and likes to say he came out showing his best side.
My my mom and brother almost died from complications of the epidural during my brother's birth so she decided to have me drugs-free. Lucky for her, by the time she arrived at the hospital and the nurses started shaving her, my head was already popping out. She gave birth half-shaved! I hope my baby is as impatient as me and come out in a rush!
Around 8 pm, 2 weeks before my due date my mom went into labor. At some point she and my dad headed to the hospital and I was born at 6:15 am. I know she did it med free and was a pretty typical birth, but I don't know any details. She was supposed to help at my cousins 6th birthday party that day, and when she called and told my aunt she wasn't going to make it, my aunt thought she was joking. I still tell my cousin I was the best birthday present she ever got.
I love this GTKY too. I can't believe how many twins we have that they didn't know were twins!?!?!?
I am the oldest of 5. My mom was incredibly sick with me and almost died. She had pre e, and HELLP syndrome. She went in for appt and ended up with emergency c section. She was not allowed to see me for 24 hours as she was in ICU.
My Dad is extremely squeamish to the point where he has fainted during several routine clinic appts (super funny if you know my dad because hes a farmer and delivers baby farm animals with no issues...)And so my grandmother was in the delivery room with my mom.
I forgot to add on the Tuesday page that I'm from a very small town/farming community where everyone knows everything about everyone. And our neighbors were due at the same time with their baby as my parents were due with me and oddly enough my parents first names are the exact same as our neighbors. SOOOO when I was born my dad and his buddies went to the bar the night after and he was buying everyone drinks...word got around that "Dennis and Susan" had their baby and the other family found out and thought it was their own family and so they were SUPER pissed because they thought nobody told them. Turns out, the other Dennis and Susan were still pregnant.
@belmont1785 that is crazy about the neighbor names! My DH is a redhead and so was their neighbor at the time-people joked my MIL had some explaining to do. My FIL even jokingly signed a bday card for DH from the neighbor once.

After 9+ solid months of morning sickness, I came exactly 2 weeks late. My brother and I were actually both born exactly 2 weeks late, on a Tuesday, the 10th of the month.
I swear over the years the number of hours she was in labor with me has increased. It has been consistently sitting at 29 hours when she tells it for about the last 10 years. She had back labor and I was sunny side up.
She had been begging for a epidural for hours and kept getting told not yet/it's too early. Then suddenly the dr said "oops it's too late now" but she wasn't having any of it and did in fact get her epidural. I think I finally made my appearance around 8 am. My parents love to say I came out screaming and haven't been quiet since.
@DeansGirl14 That sounds exactly like my SILs labor with my nephew. She had bad gas pain her entire pregnancy and when she called the on call OB she was told to stay home because her pain didn't sound like contractions. Luckily she ignored her OB and headed to the hospital after it got intense minutes after hanging up the phone. My brother almost had to deliver his son on the side of the road and was on the phone with 911 as he was driving to the hospital. My SIL barely got up to L&D and had him in one push. Her actual OB told her she better get a hotel for # 2!!

I don't know much other than I was **TW a twin, she lost the twin at 12 weeks**I was 12 days early but still had a good weight of 8lbs, 9oz (and I was her smallest baby out of 3). I found out during my father speech at my wedding that he was in with my mom when she started pushing but had to run out, threw up in the bathroom, realized he locked himself in the bathroom with no light (it was on the outside of the door) and had to pull the emergency code to get "rescued" haha.
Me: 37 DH: 37 - Married 10.2015 ❤️ Canadian DX: Endometriosis - Stage 4, DOR, RPL
I don't really know very much except that I was 8 days late and breech. I believe she was hospitalized for a few days before I was born. I should probably ask her sometime for more details
My mom was so sick with me (HG) she was hospitalized several times. She said the first three months she slept on an air mattress in the bathroom because she never knew when she would throw up. She was in labor with me longer than she was at the hospital after having me. Said she was at a teaching hospital so had about twenty people in the room when I was born.
My mom says that I was a really easy pregnancy and birth. My dad just complains that he had to wake up at 2am to drive my mom to the hospital when she started having contractions. I was born at 38 weeks, and my mom says that she was in labor for about 8 hours. She says that she had a great epidural and it was an easy delivery.

20 people?!? I'm all for teaching (out hospital is a teaching one too) but dang that's excessive! Hope they all brought a baby gift haha
My mom had me at a birth center and I was 5 days late. I do not believe it was a quick/easy labor. The main story that goes along with my birth is that her regular doctor was out of town so she had someone she had never met before and **TW they told her I had Down Syndrome when I was born. I do not, but the way my face was positioned against her pelvis I guess smooshed the bridge of my nose or something. I think it took them a few days to determine that I was chromosomally normal.** Oh, how far medical care has come!
My birth story is pretty standard. The only stand out part is that I was born right on my due date (and so was my older brother). My mom's labor with me was about 20ish hours. I guess it took her forever to dilate to 10cm but once she did, she only pushed for like 20 min and I was out. I hope my pushing time is that short!
Side note- my DH was born 6 weeks early and my MIL tells me every single time I talk to her that this baby is also going to come early. It was funny at first but now it's just annoying. Like, you have no idea when he's going to come so let's just hope for a healthy baby whenever he does arrive!
My parents went to a Rockies game the night my mom went into labor. she said the nosebleed seats and the long walk back to car got things going. But here's the kicker: my dad was drunk after the game so my mom drove him and a friend home (I think contractions were pretty far apart still) and then my mom let my dad sleep for a few hours before waking him up saying it was time to go! I was the first born so it's not like my mom had really much to go off of in terms of how long labor would be. I don't think they were at the hospital for more than a few hours (Like 6-7, so relatively short) before I was born. When they got to the hospital, my dad was still a little drunk, hadn't even reached the hangover point yet and told the admitting people something along the lines of "I think we're having a baby but I'm not really sure why we're here". Lol
@mrsashworth522 that's funny, knowing that everything turned out ok.
I swear men don't understand that babies can come before or after their due date. When MIL was pregnant with DH and went into labor she was up all night pacing and hurting but it was back labor and she didn't know what that was. When FIL woke up to get ready for work he told her to call into work and he'd take her and leave her with his mom so she wasn't alone. He takes her over there and the first thing his mom said was, "are you crazy? You're not going to work, she's obviously in labor." His response was that she wasn't due for 9 more days. He legitimately believed that babies only came on the due date. They called the doctor and she went in. I'm not sure how long labor was, but I think it was relatively quick, especially for a FTM. Any time it gets brought up he still says, but it was 9 days early!
I don't know much. I know I was late (all four of us were, including the twins) and I know she didn't have an epidural (with any of us). I'm really informed.

I have a brother with downs born in 2002 and we had to wait 6 full weeks for results!!!! Today it's much faster. Love him dearly and wouldn't change a thing but those days were agonizing for my family.
What I know about my birth is that I was a honeymoon baby. My mom craved many foods that my dad would either take her or go get it for her to eat just so she could throw up after. I was born on Dec 14th at 8 months and the first born . My mom said I was a fast delivery I almost came out before my dad showed up from parking the car and it was all natural with no meds or nothing.

She might have exaggerated some, but she said she remembers having both nursing students and residents in there. Apparently she was having some crazy contractions and it was a good teaching point for both. Oh other funny part, when my mom got the epidural my dad had been up for 28 hours at this point and had only had coffee. He fainted and woke up in a bed next to my mom. Poor guy still gets reminded of that!

The doctor's we're never 100% sure how early we actually were. My sister and I spent the next 3 weeks there before coming home. Sadly my mother was in the other hospital for about a week or more and didn't get to see us except for the Polaroids my dad brought her. Can't imagine what that must have been like.

I am praying that my mother's fertility genetics are alive and well in me and I have short labors too...!
Turns out, the other Dennis and Susan were still pregnant.1 infant loss

I found out during my father speech at my wedding that he was in with my mom when she started pushing but had to run out, threw up in the bathroom, realized he locked himself in the bathroom with no light (it was on the outside of the door) and had to pull the emergency code to get "rescued" haha.

Baby #3 on the way due 8/19/17
Side note- my DH was born 6 weeks early and my MIL tells me every single time I talk to her that this baby is also going to come early. It was funny at first but now it's just annoying. Like, you have no idea when he's going to come so let's just hope for a healthy baby whenever he does arrive!
