What are you looking forward to this week? Not much. The weekend, pretty much.

What are you dreading? Going back to work tomorrow.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Nothing in particular.

Random thoughts? I feel like this is going to be a super long week. :disappointed:

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? I think 14 total?

@glitzandglitter, yay! You're almost done!! Good luck finishing up!

What are you looking forward to this week?
I'm just enjoying my last 2 weeks of summer vacation. I can't believe the summer is almost over!

    What are you dreading?
I need to go to my classroom to start prepping. Boo!

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I want to get a bunch done in my classroom.

    Random thoughts?
DS has a weight check on Thursday. He lost a pound and a half in about a month. His doctor wants to check on him Thursday. I'm nervous about it!

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? IDK? 5? I really need to go shopping! ;)

  • @JNCPro3130 - I went in and worked in my room weeks ago to get a jump on unpacking (I had to move rooms.) I have meetings this week at school 3 days this week. I guess it's a sign the summer is almost over  :'( I do always feel better when my room is clean, set up and ready to go.
  • @izza2 - I hope this week goes by faster than you think!
@glitzandglitter - I would love to have a house elf too. Good luck on finishing your class!
@JNCPro3130 - I hope you enjoy your last two weeks off!

What are you looking forward to this week? I'm going for dinner with a friend Friday night.

What are you dreading? Work. Everyone in the office will be out in the field all week, so it's going to be pretty lonely.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I need to put DD's clothes that are too small into storage. Luckily everything is washed, but I have to fold it. Meh.

Random thoughts? We are going to look at a house today. I don't think we will want to buy it, but it's in the neighborhood that we want to move to.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? Around 10? I only have 2 pairs of heels, the others are sneakers and flats. I wear casual clothes to work, so I don't need any nice shoes.
  • @JNCPro3130 I know exactly how you feel with the weight concerns, this is why I dread every single appointment for DS. If I remember correctly our boys are close to the same age C is N14.
@glitzandglitter If you find that house elf can I lease him out please.

What are you looking forward to this week?
This week should be pretty chill not to much going on. Which in my book is a good thing. I checked out a new book Friday that I am looking forward to starting this week.

    What are you dreading?
IT'S GOING TO BE MELT MY FACE OFF HOT and I don't know what all to cook when it's this hot. Recommendations welcome.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I finished half the painting downstairs I've been putting off last week so I am going to try and finish the playroom up this week and hopefully we can start moving stuff in there next weekend.

    Random thoughts?
Naked potty training for the win. I'm afraid once I put undies back on him though we'll be back at where we started. We shall see I guess.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own?
What category are we talking? Tennis shoes, boots, sandals, flip flops, flats, pumps....etc???  :D:D:D You get the drift. I own a lot. Mostly flip flops and boots though. I'm not a heels wearer anymore because I've found gaining weight they are to uncomfortable for me and i'm not a fancy dresser. I wear boots with jeans a lot in the winter and flip flops in the summer...or flats and sandals in I want to be a bit nicer.

  • What are you looking forward to this week?

I have a professional development at the Dallas Historical Society and I'm stoked!

    What are you dreading?

Assuming seasonal allergies continue as they are for myself and DS I'm not looking forward to feeling this way.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?

Cleaning, as always. I would love to do some organizing and purging, but it all depends on how well DS naps. And looking back on last week's goals, I actually did get some scrap booking done!

    Random thoughts?

We are putting house hunting on hold, which is a bummer.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Including flip flops? Probably 50 :#

  • @kindbytealikat, yes, they're close in age. J is March 2015. He's struggled with weight since he was an infant. He got up to the 19th percentile but started dropping again. At the end of June, at a sick visit, he was in the 3rd. :(

  • What are you looking forward to this week? Pretty sad that I'm already looking forward to next weekend!

What are you dreading? Work Monday, but the rest of the week should be smooth sailing. I also have to stop after work tomorrow for groceries, and I HATE grocery shopping.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Nothing really, but I do need to get some more wedding stuff done.

Random thoughts? Beep boop, I'm a robot.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? Flip flops, heels, gym shoes... I'm guesstimating at least 20.
  • @glitzandglitter, I had to move rooms too and mine was a disaster! I've been in there 2 times this summer. I'd love to get done this week so preplanning can be for the first week and open house. When do you go back?

kindbytealikat congrats on the naked potty training success!

lalala2004  That professional development sounds fun!  I was a teacher's aid for 3 years while I was in my early 20's and the only place we had professional development was a terrible hotel ballroom :/   I'm slightly nerdy with the history stuff and that sounds different and fun!

What are you looking forward to this week?  I get a bunch of alone time with DD this weekend which will be nice.  DH runs a charity lacrosse team every year in honor of a high school friend who passed in Iraq 10 years ago.  He gets a pass to be gone all weekend to organize, play, and hang out with visiting friends who come home.  I like getting one on one time with DD, especially has we get closer to TTC.  I feel like I need to soak it up as much as possible.

What are you dreading? Hmmmmm, not much this week.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? The usual like everyone else, cleaning!  I'd like to carry over my goal from last week and get three days of exercise in.  I only got two last week, but that's still better than none!

Random thoughts? ANTS!  This weekend we have a random ant invasion in one very specific spot in our kitchen next to the sink.  Out house was built in the 1800s and there are all sorts of nooks and crannies for them to get in and I'm in full battle mode!  I've already put ant traps out.  Any one have other tips and tricks?  I know my parents use borax.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own?  I tried adding them up in my head and I think I'm probably around 30 to 35, which is blowing my mind.  I recently got rid of a bunch of pairs too!  I also find myself with less and less heals since I had DD.
  • @KFrob - Cinnamon for ants worked for me. I sprinkled it on a windowsill where they were coming in.

@JNCPro3130 fingers crossed for the weight check. It's a crappy feeling for sure. @KFrob look into diatomaceous earth for ants.

What are you looking forward to this week? Just being at home and relaxing.  FI isn't on call this weekend so I'm hoping can get some family time in.

What are you dreading? I was at a bachelorette party this weekend, and I think I'm still recovering from the epic hangover so basically dreading every minute I have to be awake today, ha.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? We got our Save the Dates for our wedding, so I'm hoping to start addressing those!

Random thoughts?  I'm trying to decide if I want to go downstairs to the cafeteria for lunch or treat myself to some Chipotle.  So much effort though.

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? A lot.  Like, a lot, a lot.  And I wear like, 3 pairs total.  I have two pairs of flats I wear to work and a pair of sandals that I wear on the weekends.  Winter I get a little more adventurous and have a bunch of different boots and booties.

  • @KFrob I'm really fortunate that we have some kickass PD opportunities for Social Studies in the area. Our World Affairs Council puts on one every year with speakers from various organizations, tons of freebies, and catered lunches from different ethnic foods (usually Indian and Mediterranean, which are two of my faves!) I also went to one by the 6th Floor Museum (JFK assasination) on Civil Rights and there were speakers who were active in the Civil Rights movement here in Dallas. This city has so much history and being a teacher and having these opportunities is awesome!

  • glitzandglitter woo hoo for a school break!

JNCPro3130 what do you have to prep for the room? Do you decorate is a "theme" or anything?

ChloandCoco GL on the house hunt! I loved visiting houses, it was so fun. I felt like I was "spying". :P

kindbytealikat naked is still a start! I mean, I've never had to potty train anything myself (not even a pet!) so all I can offer is positive thoughts.

    kimberbeep weep boop beep

KFrob that's nice that you get to hang out with DD! And it's sweet that you "let" YH have his time.

MRDCle I've found that as I age it definitely takes me longer to recover from drinking. As of lately I've found that a "buzz" now even lingers onto the next morning, not fun!

What are you looking forward to this week? Hopefully more job interviews!

What are you dreading? My day off is Tuesday, which is SO early in the week, so that kind of deters interview scheduling and makes the week feel super long.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Don't think so, just trying to make it through!

    Random thoughts? *shrugs*

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? I think like 25? Let's see...3 boots, 1 bootie, 4 sneakers, 2 slip ons, 3 dress flats, 5 heels, 1 flip flops, 2 dressy sandals, running shoes, and probably a few that I'm forgetting.

  • @jennycolada, I had to switch classrooms, I need to finish unpacking and organizing. Then I need to decorate (put up posters and hallway display). I do a color theme rather than a character. I get bored with characters too quickly. Then I get ready for our open house and lesson plans for the first week. The beginning and end of the year are the hardest for me!

I hope your week goes faster than you think!

  • @kimberbeep - I hope your Monday wasn't too bad for you :/
@JNCPro3130 - Teachers go back the beginning of August. I could go in now but they have the AC off so nope. I am hoping that I can convince them to turn it on a week early so I can get stuff done. I had 4 days of AC about a month ago and I pretty much got all my boxes unpacked and my closet organized but I have nothing on the walls. I don't like to feel rushed during preplanning and we never have enough time in our rooms.
@Kfrob - I hate ants! Sorry you are dealing with them :(
@JennyColada - I hope the week goes by quickly for you!

  • @glitzandglitter - Thanks!! Frustrated today while trying to get an appointment for a measles booster...  :s My Dr is over an hour away, but I kept going back to her cause I like her. Well, I need a booster and that's done by the nurse. However the nurse doesn't have hours on Saturdays. I don't want to take a whole day off work to drive 2 hours just for a vaccine! I think I can go to Walgreens to get the booster and I think it will be covered under my insurance... It took me 2 hours on the phone to get this far...
  • @kimberbeep - Ugh! That's annoying :(
  • Apparently I didn't lurk TTPG enough. They really aren't welcoming to new members much. This comment just rubbed me the wrong way. "4. Really, if you're a 1/1 or a 2/2 and it's not like you were around when you were benched or prior to TTC, maybe just move on. Even if you have participated daily for a month and offered tons of support. Sometimes the silence is kindest. Those of us who lurk BMBs, we'll see your intro and PM/comment/love tit." as seen on the grad thread

  • @kindbytealikat I mean, I do get where they're coming from. Because that board is so active with IF ladies seeing all the 1/1 and 2/2 can probably be very demoralizing. But I think that also goes back to what @JNCPro3130 was saying about TTGP being T-TTGP-lite.
  • I understand that it just feels somewhat insulting that if you don't have difficulty getting pregnant we don't want to share in your joy even if we've become friends over the past month.  I'm not going to make a stink about it but I'll be sad to get to know some of these ladies and if by chance I do get KU soon can't share with them. It's just a very off putting comment to newbies IMHO and it's a "you can't sit here" comment but I'm sure the ladies over there are fabulous

What are you looking forward to this week? Getting home and Thursday and getting to sleep in my own bed, with DH, and the pups.

What are you dreading? I am out in the field for a corporate audit and I'm dreading how much work is going to be added to my already full workload when the come out with the findings.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Mostly just survive  :D

Random thoughts? I am pretty overwhelmed at work right now and getting really mixed messages from my manager. One of the projects I am working on I was told not to do all of the work and that I should delegate and review. I assigned one task to someone and they basically blind-sided me with a conference call with my manager about how this is my project so I am expected to do all the work.. ok.. fast forward a month, I am slightly behind schedule and my manager is upset I haven't delegated anything...

GTKY: How many pairs of shoes do you own? not enough.. one of my puppies recently decided to start eating shoes (3 flats, 3 sandals, and a tennis shoe).

@kindbytealikat I can definitely see how it comes off that way. Especially including "Even if you have participated daily for a month and offered tons of support". I think the general thought behind it is that a month or two isn't enough time to really get to know anyone. My biggest reason for moving over here for awhile though is that it gets really overwhelming on TTGP. There are so many people and people posting in different threads (WTO, TWW, IF, TFAS) that its just a lot of posts to try to keep up with.

  • Well this week has started rough! The school building is closed for cleaning so I can't go work in my classroom. Then my poor DS woke up with a fever. We've been on the couch watching tv and movies all afternoon. We already have his weight check this week but it might turn into a sick visit.

By the way, I haven't been using TW when talking about DS. Is that okay? I will if you guys need me to!

    ***TW response***
@JNCPro3130- since I have been on BOTB I haven't really seen people using TW for kids only miscarriage. I have kids so I don't think I'm the right person to weigh in on a yes or no in that area
Ugh! I'm sorry you couldn't work in your room. I hope your DS feels better soon
  • It's a shame that Snarky TTC board is barely active...
  • IMO, BOTB kind of defines that you WANT to talk about babies. So I think it's pretty much a given that people here will talk about kids.
  • Although I will say that I'm "triggered" by our lack of talk about good cocktails. Can that be a thing? :P

@mrsmiller8588, yes, snuggles are great! I'll ALWAYS take those! We also watched Toy Story. Since I haven't seen it in a long time, it was fun! I did think about his weight in response to being sick. He doesn't take medicine well so I'm trying to sneak in in food. Unfortunately, I'm not doing well! We'll just let cuddles continue until bed.

@JennyColada we can talk about cocktails. I'm currently on a work trip having a Bloody Mary with dinner. I'm trying to decide if I can "forget" my detailed receipt and put this on the company card...

Now that's my kind of GTKY! Has anyone ever had a Mexican Mule (also known as the Mexi Mule)? Similar to this.. but I don't put jalapeños in it because peppers in cocktails freak me out: https://whatshouldimakefor.com/mexican-mule/

Another one of my favorite summer cocktails is blackberry mint juleps... We grow mint in our backyard so DH makes these pretty often, using simple syrup, ground up blackberries, packed/ crushed mint, ice and bourbon.

Obviously I'm a "drink till it's pink" type.

  • I think they're just being brutally honest over in TTGP. When I was active over there 2 years ago and got my BFP, I just moved on to my BMB, and that wasn't even the stated norm at the time. I just didn't feel like I deserved to be an AW about it. A lot of the ladies lurk the BMB and they see who is KU. Of course, back then people still announced BFPs in the TWW thread, so obviously a lot has changed!

That said, I do like that we don't seem to need TW for kids over here. The casual atmosphere jIves with me. But I tend to be a chameleon and can fit in anywhere with minimal effort. Maybe it's because I lurk more than I post
