  • I'm an emergency physician in a suburban community hospital

  • I work in strategic sourcing for a big healthcare company. I'm very lucky that I get to work from home mostly whenever I want (DS goes to daycare), but I'd love to wfh full time. It's so scary to look for other jobs though. I do love not having to get "ready" those days.

I always wished I'd been able to be an editor of some kind!
  • I'm the General Manager of a Banana Republic. I love my job and I love the company. As I'll be a FTM, I think my biggest worry is being able to find a schedule that works for our family. Retail is not a flexible environment and has no set schedule.  Even though I decide my own hours, I still work weekends, some evenings and most holidays ... any other retail mama's out there find a way to make it work for you?

  • No job at the moment but I'm currently in school to get my nursing degree. I took my teas test back in June and passed. Just waiting on enrollment to apply for the nursing program and get this show on the road. Next spring semester would be the one I'm most concerned about being that I would deliver in the middle of it.

@bb3vj3n my DH works hours similar to that as a personal trainer, and at first it was really challenging, but we have found ways to make it work for us. You might find that you can determine a schedule that saves you money on daycare and gives you some daytime with your LO on days you wouldn't typically get to be with him/her. It could work well! Once you have LO for a year or so, you'll find what works best, but being gainfully employed and having that income is probably the best, most secure option for the family for now, right? You might find that it's a good fit!

  • I'm an HR technician at my local school district hiring teachers and athletic coaches. I was a SAHM for a little over a year after my daughter was born. When my husband got laid off we both started looking for work. He's now a realtor who works from home. I'm currently working on getting my license so I can work from home with him and the kids also :) I am so jealous of all the time he spends with the kids. So I figured why not try and join them!

@bb3vj3n I use to to work retail and totally get where your concern would be coming from!  I now work for airline which means if I work mornings I can start as early as 4 am if I work nights I could be there as late at 1 am. I'm sure once you get use to life with the LO you can work out a life work balance !  I'm Trying not to over think it, but it's still just lingering in the back of my mind on how I am going to work it out becuase I would like to return to work after my mat leave.

I'm a Credentialing Specialist for a CVO.  We process credentialing applications for MDs at several prestigious hospitals in the Boston area and now have clients all over the country.  I worked full time prior to DD and came back part time, three days per week after my maternity leave.  I was lucky and have been extremely grateful for the flexibility.  It's been an absolutely perfect balance for us.  I'd like to keep the exact same schedule after new Baby is here.  We'll see how it works out with two!

  • I taught high school English for 11 years, but moved to junior high last year. I love it!
  • @tennislove30, I did the same thing (only 8 years and then shifted to middle school). Is your paper load feeling a little lighter? I had seniors, and their lengthy research papers were a tough time of year for family time! Seventh grade papers are a bit shorter

  • @LiveNLove44 It's so much easier! It's still a lot of work, but nothing compared to teaching juniors.

  • I'm a change manager for a IT company. I started assisting the regional lead who just told me he's leaving the company and recommended me as a replacement! I couldn't be more excited because that means I get a raise, but on the flip side more work. This is my first big job out of college and I'm so scared to tell my job I'm expecting. For one I worked so hard to get to a leadership role and I wouldn't want them to give it to someone else if they find out I'm pregnant. My boss and I are pretty tight, so I'm sure my position will be secured but since being pregnant my hormones have me so paranoid at times. I can also work from home on occasion, so I do think it will all work out. We also get a pretty nice maternity leave, they refer to it as "short term leave" up to 12 weeks. What do you ladies/gents think the appropriate time to tell your job you're pregnant?
  • I am a vet tech and love working with animals all day! I also sell LuLaRoe from home.

@marchmuva I can't say for you but for me my medical information is personal. I plan to tell my job at 5 or 6 months unless I have a huge belly. I have a right to get pregnant and that will give them 3-4 months to prepare...that's enough time. We get 12 weeks as well and I'm so excited to be away!!!

that's the hope for sure.  Fingers crossed we can make it work
  • @KLmyz I sure hope so.  I'm actually covering another woman's mat leave right now which had me working very close to home with very flexible hours but my permanent contract is for a different location that is a 1.5hr commute each way ...I refuse to do that on top of a 9 hour day- I would never see my LO
  • @ishmoney Thank you! you're right 3 months is enough time for the company to prepare for someones absence.
