  • @elcd458- I was going to say the same thing about all the "theory people." I can't stand baby theories! If one more person tries to guess the sex of my baby based on my morning sickness experience, bump shape, etc, I'm going to freak out on them. I would have bet $100, my 2nd kid was a girl because my pregnancies began differently-but nope! 2 boys, 2 pregnancies with different experiences. It's all BS.
  • Winning Wednesday, my coworker has two girls and not planning to have any more children, so today she brought in a whole bag of cute clothes and other baby stuff, yay! Also wondering what the protocol is for receiving hand-me-downs? Do I write her a thank you note or anything?

  • @peachy13 I always think a thank you note is a good idea!

@peachy13, for sure write a thank you note. Maybe a small gift card would even be nice. She likely saved you a bunch of money.

i was curious so I googled skull and nub theories and checked my 12 week US. Skull = boy, nub = girl. So. Square one.

i'm even more confused by your summary LOL. all i can envision is your US showing the dark mark and that means you're having voldemort.

    Lol. What?

Skull theory is based on the shape of the skull and nub is based on the angle of the nub. Shape of the skull looks like a boy and angle of the nub (0 degrees, totally horizontal) indicates a girl. So they contradict one another.
  • @peachy13 I agree with gift card, and possibly for a generous amount.  I was gifted several hundred $$ worth of hand-me-down maternity clothes, and feel like I need to give a little thank you at a minimum in the $30-$50 range when I think about what she's saving me!

That being said, I think most of the time people aren't expecting anything and are probably thrilled to be rid of it all "for a good cause" so they will be surprised and appreciative of any kind of recognition, even if it's just a nice thank you note.
  • @peachy13 - My coworker just gave me a bunch of stuff too!  She actually mailed it today, so I don't know what I'm getting.  I planned on getting her a gift card to cover at least the shipping plus some.  She was collecting all her stuff to donate anyway, but it was really nice of he to think of me (and MAIL it to me), so I wanted to get her something as a token of my appreciation.

  • @Tennis11785 @elcd458 @NME44 @cait5413 cool thanks ladies! I think a gift card to a restaurant in her town would be a good idea, plus a nice thank you note. She did tell me that she's giving me more stuff as she cleans out her house so I'm totally appreciative of that.

  • Winning Wednesday, Im finally approved to see the doctor I want which is at a closer hospital.

WTF Wednesday, my first appointment with the new doctor isn't until August 21st :/
  • Winning - I was craving tacos and was really happy when I spoke with my husband at 4 that he also wanted to go get tacos for dinner.

WTF - He come with food from the grocery store and said "I changed my mind.  WIll you just make dinner."

LOL.  Now I'm making burgers (because we don't have the stuff to turn the ground beef into tacos at home).

My WW: our condo (that we are selling) is closing next week. 12 days early= yay!

Still haven't found a house but it will be very helpful to have the money from the condo in the bank and not have to make a contingency offer when we do find something.

My workday was quite the WTF Wednesday.

WTF 1: Payroll decided to change how they apply a particular policy and I would be PTO capped and would not accrue any PTO until after maternity leave, unless I could get approval to take 2 more weeks PTO prior to my maternity leave -- preferably immediately.  Then got told I was holding up processing this pay-period's payroll because I was contesting this new policy/accounting.  I don't think I've ever been so angry at work.  So we had an intense little chat with general counsel yesterday afternoon. (Spoiler: I will not be PTO capped; the new policy will not go into effect without notice to anyone; and this week's payroll will not, in fact, be paid late.)

WTF 2: Unplanned 15 hour day at work due to a facilities/lab emergency that started less than a minute before I was planning to go home.

  • @kyrwyn good for you for fighting it!

It's not Weds, but my WTF today is why do my appointments take so long? All I do is pre in a cup, get weighed, get blood pressure, Doppler the baby, and meet with the doc for all of 5 minutes. I'm now at an hour and counting, sitting in the 3rd waiting room waiting on Doppler and doc. SIGH

  • @cait5413  that's so aggravating. i try to be the first appointment of the day to minimize the waiting. sometimes this backfires if the OB was on call or coming from the hospital but mostly works.

my belated, and very super large WTF, is that i just got a call from my MFM office canceling my anatomy scan appointment for this coming monday morning. i've had the appointment for months. they are moving to a new office and apparently don't have their shit together and won't be able to take their monday morning appointments. so now they want to "fit me in" sometime later in the week which i have to somehow work out with my schedule and my husband's. this office is near my house and absolutely not near my office so it is difficult and i can't take midday appointment slots.
not to mention i really just want to make sure LO is healthy so we can proceed with telling my DS about the baby :(:( i'm just really frustrated and disappointed. i know it's only a few extra days in the end, maybe a week, but on principle i get SO AGGRAVATED when my appointments, for any doctor, get canceled for stupid reasons.

@anewadventure I'd be super pissed too! Especially an appointment like an anatomy scan, which is really easy to get emotionally invested in and actively anticipate and not so easy to schedule around. I hope the figure shit out quickly and find you an appointment that works for both you and your DH.

@cait5413 I hope they finish up and release you to your day soon!

  • @anewadventure Omg, my A/S is tomorrow and I've been counting down to it for weeks, I would absolutely lose my mind if they rescheduled! :(  (Especially with DH & I having put in for PTO and the scheduling/commuting conflicts that would arise, like you mentioned.) So sorry they did this to you, I hope they fit you in super soon and it's not too inconvenient for you.

@kyrwyn Nothing gets me as worked up as our company's payroll dept/HR screwing up. It's their one job, and the incompetence is unbelievable. I'm glad you were able to talk with someone and get it sorted out, but total BS that you had to fight for something so reasonable.

  • @anewadventure That is so annoying! I hope they can find another time that works well for you

@kyrwyn about 1.5 hours total, but everything looks good and got my A/S scheduled!
