Weekly Symptoms Thread 7/10

Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread 7/10

  • Since I'm at the end of the month I've noticed that I usually lag behind a lot of the symptoms that everyone mentions. I'm usually all "Hmmm I haven't had that one yet..." and sure enough, two to three weeks later- I'm having that symptom/feeling.

Right now I just feel like I'm getting bigger every.single.moment. It's a odd feeling because just two weeks ago I was in a right mental state that I wasn't growing enough and now I feel like he's just booming in growth.

I can't effing breath now. If I lay down at certain angles I feel like I'm practically drowning.

Braxton Hicks are still going on and while most are just annoying, I'm starting to get a few whoopers a that are painful.

I don't have straight up insomnia, but I do notice that I'm waking up earlier than normal and my body is like "TIME TO GET OUT OF BED BECAUSE I"M DONE SLEEPING"

@littlebug2010 I'm am right there with you on the chaffing issue! I keep my antichaffing stuff in my bag and whip it out multiple times a day!
  • @littlebug2010 That cream should def help! It's good stuff. I've also been wearing Jockey moisture wicking slipshorts under my dresses. They're not as tight as spanks, but they're breathable and go to my mid thigh so the chub won't rub.

  • Some insomnia.  Sometimes I am up every hour and it sucks.  Last night was lucky enough to sleep in 2- 2 1/2 hour stretches, but am still exhausted.  Altogether I probably averaged 7 hours of sleep last night.  Usually I am somewhere around 5-6 at the end of this pregnancy.

  • I take Benadryl for sleep on nights I can't sleep. It's safe
  • @littlebug2010 Have you tried slip shorts? It might be hard to fit them with a pregnant belly, but it might help the chaffing.

  • For the insomniacs among us-any tricks?   I can't get back to sleep, I can't fall asleep, I have heartburn and am still vomiting a lot.
The only thing that works for me is sleeping on the couch. Our 2nd bedroom is too hot and seeing DH sleep just irritates me now. Plus he rolls over and the slightest movement wakes me up. The support of the back of the couch/cuddling my body pillow helps too.

@littlebug2010 body glide works great to prevent chaffing. You can find it at most sporting goods stores.

  • My ribs hurt soooooo much today. Especially on the left side. I sear baby's butt is wedged up underneath, and apart from the not being able to breath at.all.ever. it just is so sore even to the touch. My midwife wasn't concerned yesterday though unless it gets worse blah blah blah. She felt it and said she don't think it's anything serious, just stretching normal sore annoying pregnancy greatness. And her Tylenol recommendation didn't help last night  ...

  • @SpotConlon I have tried the shorts before, but I have always had an issue with them rolling up on me.  I might have to, if the other stuff doesnt work.

@BlackNYellow I have body glide, and usually use that, but I didnt wear it one day, and the chafing started, so now its just covering it, but its not going away, so now it hurts!

@littlebug2010 I use deodorant between my legs for the time being. I get chub rub bad as well. But now that the other stuff was mentioned I may go on the hunt for that. I cannot wear pants right now no way. Only dresses adn skirts!
I remember having it so bad in high school we went to Tampa Busch Gardens and it rained and we had to walk all the way back to the entrance in the rain. Went to the bathroom and thought I started my period, nope, just my thighs bleeding.

I think my child is trying to escape. I keep getting either a head or an elbow jammed into my cervix causing me tons of pain and he keeps going until I move.

  • @EmyB30 Ive done the deodorant thing for a long time.  Chub rub is no joke.  I think the worst thing is that there is nothing that provides the relief it needs.

Right. TMI but I end up getting like boils if it rubs too much. I don't pick them because usually my body just adsorbs them but then leaves these dark almost like scars where it was. Hate them. I was thinking about getting some biker shorts or spandex shorts but this baby HATES anything low riding. Hence why I wear dresses and skirts I can pull up over my bump.

@littlebug2010 I spray dermaplast on the chaffing when it really really hurts.
  • Crazy burning on the top right and bottom left of my belly. It'll be good in the morning and get progressively worse throughout the day. I've sneezed twice and it brings tears to my eyes. I now pray routinely that I never sneeze again.
  • kvh22kvh22 member
@tru3tte I don't have the burning but totally with you on the sneezing...it hurts so much!

I'm having horrible mid to upper back pain. I felt good during yoga and for about an hour afterwards but the pain came back so fast once I was sitting with my laptop. I have an exercise ball from prime day arriving by Friday so I will try sitting on that instead. Any other suggestions from those feeling the same?

  • @kvh22 I've also been having really back mid-upper level back pain (mostly right on my right side) for a while now. I've gone to the chiropractor and she thinks one of my ribs is out of place but she can't seem to pop it back in. The only thing that helps for me is standing or laying down on my left side. Sitting is the worst so being at work has been really difficult, or anytime I'm in the car for more than 10 minutes. Nothing else I've done seems to help unfortunately. Not sure if yours is the same type of thing but you could also try heat and stretching. That helped for me a bit in the beginning.
  • Is anyone else's LO sideways? I'm 33+5 so im hopeful he'll move in time, but for now it's just painful he's pushing on both sides I feel like so my bump looks weird and I'm worried I'm squishing him when I lay on my sides to sleep (he moves more then).
I should be grateful I'm not getting the Rib/lung/cervix punches I'm hearing about I guess!

@Kaityrj Are you sure they're sideways? Because I SWORE my baby was transverse until I went into a growth u/s... And he was head down.

Less than a week earlier my midwife even thought he was transfer (which he may have been and flipped to vertex in that amount of time) What I thought was his head is his butt. Apparently I'm no baby position expert.

He still stretches both sides of my stomach with his feet and butt, making it look very odd and that's how I feel most of the movement. The hip punches are much more subtle twinges for me...  he doesn't like it much when I lay on my side.

  • @kaityrj At my almost 32 week appointment, my doctor confirmed what I had suspected, which was that the baby was head down but near my right side and diagonally across.  By the time I had my growth u/s this week at 33.5 weeks, the baby was head down more in the middle where he/she should be.  You still have time for him to move.

  • I'm 37+1 and for the last week or so I've been feeling pain like lighter menstrual cramps. The RLP I've had before had tended to be sharp, localized and brief pain. This is different- this is spread evenly across my very lower region just like period cramps and lasts longer than the RLP stabs. It was bad enough last night to keep me awake for a bit- if Ibuprofen were allowed for pregnancy I would have taken some but oh well.

Anyone else have this feeling? I recall that menstrual cramp feelings could be part of labor, but I've had zero other labor signs (I can tell what's BH as those have been going on for months).

Holy acid reflux!!!!! Today when I was picking up my car (it's done being fixed!!!!) this non-pregnant lady looked at me and said "isn't great being pregnant? Don't you just feel amazing?" I literally wanted to punch her! My legs are cramped, acid reflux makes my food come back up, and it takes me like 10 minutes to poop! I just keep looking at my belly and asking Landon "are we done yet?"
  • @DeansGirl14 I started getting light menstrual like cramps at about 31/32 weeks. They're always along my lower region too. I can't time them or recognize a pattern, so they don't usually concern me as long as the episodes come and go lasting less than on hour (so far all have been less than that).  As the weeks have gone on, the intensity of the cramping has increased and I notice that they are starting to accompany my BH occasionally. They do feel very different than quick RLP stabs.

  • At 5am I woke up with nausea and vomiting, and loose BM. Now at 9am I'm cramping my brains out again. I don't know if I'm ill or "clearing out" like some say can happen before labor starts. Time will tell I guess...
  • What did your skin feel like before developing stretch marks?

The skin around my belly button is red and irritated. It feels like a bad sunburn, but only by the end of the day. It doesn't itch and my skin looks normal in that area. Could this be the start of a stretch mark forming?
The first day May 2007 <3  The yes day April 2012 <3 The best day Nov 2013

  • @BlackNYellow it could be, it could also just be stretching belly button. I have a bunch of stretch marks and never even noticed them show up. They don't hurt/itch, but my upper belly itches a ton!  I've not had a burning sensation at all, but I suppose it could be.

  • @DeansGirl14,

Just started getting this a few days ago at around 36 weeks. It is brutal when combined with lightening crotch.  OB says it's all normal.  He essentially told me that with each subsequent pregnancy the pain is worse/ more noticeable.  I sadly only thought that was with the after birth cramps.
