When I got pregnant this time around, I was up about 20 lbs from my first pregnancy (and about 30 lbs overweight total). I will admit my lifestyle has become more sedentary with my new job and I haven't been cooking as much as I used to. I have started light/moderate workouts and cutting carbs in an effort to be more healthy and improve my terrible energy levels and headaches. My weight has been dropping slowly. I am currently 5 lbs below my beginning pregnancy weight.
My question is whether anyone has spoken to their doctor about weight loss/maintenance during pregnancy? I can't seem to find any consensus on whether weight gain is mandatory during pregnancy as long as you are eating healthy and exercising (assuming you're already are overweight to begin with). Can you change diet/exercise during pregnancy and still have a healthy baby if you aren't gaining weight? I will be asking at my next appt, but was curious to hear if anyone else has already had this conversation with their doc

Re: Weight maintenance during pregnancy
however. in reality that's not true. they don't want you to DIET. they don't want you to cut whole food groups. they don't want you to be concerned about weight gain UNLESS you started out significantly overweight or obese (i know this can be a struggle for women of all sizes. pregnancy is a mind fuck). if you are in the heavier category, it's my understanding the goal would be to become healthier, with weight loss as a natural side effect. exercise more. eat cleaner. be mindful. if these actions result in weight loss, fine. if they don't, fine.
many ladies (i would say, 10?) from my last BMB lost significant weight during their pregnancies and were considered healthy. they started out in the obese category.
with all of this, of course, you should be on the same page as your doctor. GL!

I was losing weight pre-pregnancy and was down 20 lbs before I found out I was pregnant. I stopped trying to lose weight at that point and have been focusing on not gaining since then.

I just looked at my medical records and I had gained about 15 pounds by now and I haven't gained anything yet this pregnancy. I am hoping to gain the recommended 15-25 for overweight women this time around. It's also a little easier (I mean harder, but as far as weight gain lol) to manage since I can't come home from work and just veg and sleep since I have DS to run after.

i used to use my fitness pal but sometimes it stresses me out
im planning on trying to eat healthy meals and decent size portions im not really thinking im going to calorie count just yet
I fell off the fitness wagon prepregnancy although I still ate quite healthy. But I couldn't even work out if I wanted to during first trimester, I felt horrid! Now that I'm getting some energy back, I'm finding that I am SO out of shape or whatever that I'm struggling just to walk around the block! Huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf after 5 minutes. (The heat doesn't help of course.) It's so discouraging, which just leads me to want to lay on the couch and pout.
