I'm totally going to lurk this thread to hopefully trigger some cravings. I have zero ideas for this week, my poor family. DH wants to grill out tomorrow, but nothing on the grill sounds appealing. Someone throw something at me other than a hamburger/hot dog. A steak may be ok......
I kind of feel like I'm running low on ideas my daughter will eat. She's an excellent veggie and fruit eater, but she's super picky with proteins. DS is the opposite and will eat a plate full of protein but gags when he touches a veggie. Any toddler friendly recs?!
Then we cut up red onions, different peppers, and baby bella mushrooms, skewer them on kabobs, and grill them alongside the chicken. Pretty fresh and yummy as far as grilling goes!
Anyone else have a good chicken or fish recipe to share?!
(I'm a chicken and fish person if that isn't already obvious, so limiting fish of certain kinds while pregnant kind of bummed me out in the past. I also had an aversion to chicken with DD and eggs with both DD and DS, so I'm hoping to not have either of those this time around!)
Tonight- strawberry, chicken, dried cherry, goat cheese spinach salad. tuesday- chili dogs, veggies, and s'mores wednesday- chicken teriyaki burgers and zucchini fries. thursday- brats and beet salad friday-pizza saturday- ?
I am going with easy holiday food this week. I am tired and nauseous and don't think any of this even sounds good right now. My kids wanted eggs this morning and I had to leave in the middle of cooking to get sick- eggs are always my trigger.
@LiveNLove44, I like to make parmesan crusted tilapia. I brush the fish with alfredo sauce, then dredge in a mixture of italian (or panko) breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. SO good!
The kids ate cheese tortellini for lunch, and I realized it was the best choice ever--so good I made some parmesan sauce with chicken to go with it, and they were happy and so was I. Other wins this week: chicken quesadillas and grilled turkey sandwiches (panini style).
Do any STMs have ideas for how to get my littlest to eat veggies? My DD was easy and loves veggies, but my son struggles to even touch them...or entertain the idea of one being on his plate. He's only 1.5! We have to figure this out sooner or later!
@LiveNLove44 DD is really inconsistent with eating these days, but I've found that if I try to offer a couple of different vegetables she'll usually choose one that she likes and eat it. I also try to keep offering the same veggies over the course of a few days- even if she didn't touch 'em at first she might go for it after seeing them on her plate over and over.
Definitely not the case with carrots, though. She doesn't f$&% with carrots.
Amazed at these meal plans! I'm scraping to put something edible together every single night.
Omaha steaks has THE BEST sales. Their meat comes out to be cheaper than grocery store meat if you get them on sale and they're amazing. Highly highly recommend this. Take a random piece out of the freezer, bake it and that's it. Easy peasy and delicious...Even night after night (face palm).
Oh and my son will pretty much eat anything that's on our plate. Transfer the exact same thing to his plate and all of the sudden, he won't go near it. So, I could use tips on getting him to eat his own food.
I started doing Hello Fresh because I couldn't come up with meal plans. For the most part I like it, but we are on the family plan so we can have the left overs the next night. It also seems like bigger portions so DS can have some too, but the meals are a little boring sometimes! But I only have to figure out dinner for 3 nights a week, which makes it worth it to me
@LiveNLove44 there's lots of good recipes that you can sneak veggies into food. For example, I steam zucchini and scoop it out of the skin and then mix it with ground meat and make meatballs. You can make a big batch and freeze them too if you want!
DH prepped an egg bake last night with eggs, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and bacon in it, and it's almost gone already! We have guests staying with us and they have 3 little boys, and all of the kids love it! It's also a parent pleaser, and we may have to make it a regular weekend thing for this pregnancy--as long as I don't develop an aversion for eggs again!

Try offering different preparations- if he hated something cooked, try it raw, or try cooking it a different way. Also, keep offering stuff periodically, even if he hated it before. Tastes change quickly. Also try some off-the-beaten path veggies.
Re: Meal Plan Monday 7/3
I'm a Mediterranean flavor fan, so when we grill, I like this marinade for chicken: https://gimmedelicious.com/2015/04/22/mediterranean-grilled-chicken-breasts/

Both of our kids like these baked chicken fingers, and the herbs mix up the flavor and don't make it feel like you're eating toddler food (which DH and I appreciate): https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a43150/baked-chicken-fingers-recipe/ We haven't made them in a few weeks, so we're probably due with this one this week!
We did this one last week and we all could've eaten twice as much! We steam some mixed vegetables and wash berries for the side, and it's a good recipe for us to keep on our rotation. https://allrecipes.com/recipe/231549/baked-flounder-with-panko-and-parmesan/

I also do taco salad and various crock pot chicken often.

With Brats, pulled pork sandwiches, and salmon.
I've made bang bang shrimp before, too, but haven't had it in a while- might go on my list for next week!

I'm a little late to the party this week but this was our meal plan for the week:
Sunday: grilled ham and cheese sandwiches; chips
Monday: Chicken broccoli alfredo/garlic toast
Tuesday: Chili cheese hot dogs/French fries/baked beans
Wednesday: Crispy ranch chicken strips, green beans, macaroni and cheese
Thursday: Green chile chicken enchiladas, rice, black beans
Friday: Skillet lasagna/garlic toast
Saturday: Pizza night
@Livenlove44 this is closest to my recipe: https://blogchef.net/ranch-chicken-strips-recipe/
I don't have my actual recipe with me but it is basically that although I don't usually add parmesan. I might this time though.
