  • @jlemons-2 fall is the best time of year, period.

AFM, I don't like how grocery stores sell "easy" food. Pre-shucked corn, pre-made kebobs... I even saw a little "hamburger kit" over the weekend that had pre-cut tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. I know some people think these things are a god send but I actually kind of like the work involved when preparing a meal and think that prepping fresh veggies or whatever you're cooking makes the meal taste better. Who knows how long those tomato slices have been sitting in the hamburger kit?

@peachy13, I agree that I'd rather do the work myself than spend the extra for pre-cut veggies, but yesterday I saw a "meal kit" and it was just pasta and a bunch of tomatoes. And the package said, "the perfect saucing tomatoes!" And I was all, "yeah, right. I'm gonna sauce my own tomatoes. Okay." In this case it's actually cheaper to just buy pasta and a can of sauce.

@jlemons-2 I also hate summer. Especially how summer here rolls right into "Fall" and we usually get a heat wave for Halloween. Fall is my favorite and, since we don't really get Winter, most of my favorite things about Fall keep up until Spring.

  • Summer is awful. Fall is my favorite. Then spring. Then winter.

  • I love summer. My UO: I hate air conditioning. Even in the sweltering heat I wish I didn't have to have it on. DH and the kids would be miserable if I didn't have it on so I just suck it up and have to go outside every 10 minutes to warm up lol. I am that annoying person who is always cold.
  • @elcd458 i could get behind that!

  • @speach13 I normally hate A/C too, but pregnancy has made heat intolerable and I'm actually grateful for A/C now!
  • @Piccola1988 makes sense to me! I don't get/like when people tell me pregnancy is 10 months. Also I do feel like we get the first 4 weeks free of charge.

  • @Piccola1988 - yes!  9 months not 10.  Every time my husband asks me how far along I am and I respond with weeks, he asked me to "translate" it into months (or he tries to translate it using the typical 4 weeks = 1 month), and I have to keep explaining to him that doing it that way makes pregnancy look 10 months long, when it's only 9.  We've had this conversation more times than I should admit.

  • @eazybreezy225  Maybe my UO is that I don't like the "wine mom" stereotype? Or actually, I should clarify, I don't like the blatant advertising of onesself as the wine mom stereotype. Don't get me wrong-- I too live for Riesling, murder shows and a good pair of stretchy pants-- but I've always felt like being one of those moms that walks around wearing a shirt with some trite cutesy wine pun or putting your kid in a onesie like "I'm the reason mommy drinks" gives off this nasty vibe of "I've had all these children and they are such a burden on my sanity and cramp my style." Like-- were you unware parenting would exhausting when you chose to have them?

I know people mean it in good humor, it just seems trashy to me to make it a focal point.  No qualms about drinking or anything like that. I'm very much pro-"whatever helps you survive" as a parenting strategy. But excuse me while I roll my eyes at your kitschy "Mommy's Sippy Cup" wine glass.

  • Following the lead of @flowerpower5838 with another non-confrontational UO... I HATE coffee or any coffee flavored items! Please don't kick me out of the BMB lol.
  • I wish there was a beer mom stereotype because I'd own that shit. DH brought home a pack of my favorite beer ever that's hard to get around here. Rat.
  • @kyrwyn I'm cool with whatever as long as we keep the stretchy pants
  • My UO this week is that my toddler is an asshole..... I know what kind of terrible mom says things like that but hear me out.... I have really bad nerve pain which makes it hard to move quickly my toddler has picked up on this and will do things she shouldn't then wait till I'm just close enough and hual ass to get away from me and laugh then sup and wait for me to hobble over then haul ass a second time before she finally falls over from laughing...
  • @SierraGood  i dont have a toddler but i helped raise my little sister and i have to say she was equally annoying as a toddler as she was a  teenager but maybe more as a toddler bc i couldnt even reason with her

i kind of want to hear the confrontational UOs lol

my UO today is i wish there were two ways of getting news - one where nothing about donald trump is mentioned unless its strictly in his presidential role but it would say (the president of the US withdrew from the Paris Agreement and that would be the end of his mention in that article) and nothing stupid he does would be mentioned and the other media outlet would just have all the stupidity and horribleness

    *tw gun violence mention*
my other UO is really stupid but bear with me. i had a mass shooter training today ( i work in the hospital) and they were basically telling us that we should only fight the shooter as a last resort. i do get that. however i dont get why there arent more apps or something out there for people to mass message each other in the event of a shooting, or some sort of mass communication. i guess what im trying to say is i feel like the odds are against the one shooter in a building of 1000s of people yet it seems that the shooter only really gets overtaken when the cops come. Am I making sense? i dont know how to explain what im trying to say but it is something i always wondered about . LIke in the training I had today they said only attack the shooter if he is directly attacking you. but im like if the shooters back is turned and theres a huge fire extinguisher why would it be bad to strike him in the head with it sneak style (besides being shot on the spot if you make a noise, etc)... anyway morbid but something ive been thinking about.
  • Third the asshole toddler opinion.

@leilagphillips I hate all things coffee too!  So gross.
  • I don't like country music. (Exceptions include Carrie Underwood's entire first album and various older songs.)

Also give me all the cherry-flavored things, @flowerpower5838!

  • Glad I'm not the only one!!! Literally had to call my husband to take over cause I was just done with her tonight...
  • @SierraGood my daughter is only 14 months so I'm not sure when she's officially a toddler, but she is exhausting me lately. When my husband got home today I went and hid in our room for twenty minutes just to get some quiet time.

Lol @sjis I totally smoke weed. Not while pregnant, of course, but a little bong rip never hurt anyone ;)
  • To each her own!! Applies to so many things !

@sjis @breezybee I'm right there with you. I enjoy wine, but I definitely miss bud more.. It seems so far away that I'll be able to partake again! At least with alcohol you can drink while breastfeeding by timing it out, but unfortunately marijuana stays in your system to long for that to work. Oh well, some day the kids will be older and it'll seem like it took no time at all!

@MJDsquared Totally agree on not liking country music. Ick

@ameliabedelia-2 I don't like weed either! It's legal here, but I just don't enjoy it.

My UO- I hate baseball. It's so boring and slow. I can't stand that it is on EVERY. DAMN. DAY.

Give me football. All day, every day.
