@KLake42 I feel you, last pregnancy i did the maternity biker shorts shapewear but they are too sweaty for how humid it gets in the South so I also need to find an alternative. Have you tried that anti-chafing runners stuff? It comes in a deodorant looking stick. I think it's called glide or body glide.
@koennia1217 I actually bought most of my maternity jeans and Capris at motherhood. They always have a sale going or clearance. I have gotten two pairs of shorts at Target that I love.
@koennia1217 I love my Jessica Simpson maternity jeans. I actually got then at Macy's, but I think Motherhood carries them.
@KLake42 I can totally sympathize with the thigh rub, my 1st was born in June and I had to struggle with dresses. I feel like biker shorts under them defeat the purpose of wearing dresses to cool off : ( are you definitely in maternity clothes now? I was thinking skorts could be an option but I don't know if the maternity stores carry them? I bought a few in a larger size for my post partum mess of a body last summer, and I was thinking of trying to get by with them this summer instead of buying maternity shorts for just 6 weeks or so. Not sure how that's going to work...
I don't technically need maternity clothes yet, my jeans etc still fit (for now, the bump is becoming real)....HOWEVER I did go ahead and buy some shorts from Target because I know at some point this summer I'll need them and OMG they are so freaking comfortable!
My favorite and most used item from my last pregnancy was maternity spanx. I realize how vain that sounds but it made my belly look round and not bulgy, again not a skinny gal so I had the "is she pregnant or fat" look going on for a while. But those were the best. Also I had to wear a maternity belt to pull the belly up so I would put my spanx over that and it wouldn't look so lumpy under dresses.
I lovvvee maternity leggings! Already got them for this pregnancy (I like H&M brand!) although I don't quite need them yet. I'm sure I'll be living in them once the weather gets cooler(anyone as ready for fall as I am?!)! Maternity leggings are also great for post baby and breastfeeding as it covers the midsection when you have to lift your shirt! I was very pregnant through the summer with DS and just tried to extend my own clothes as long as possible. Flowy shirts and elastic waistbanded shorts were a go to! I'm all for comfort and I did recently order a pair of maternity jeans from Gap and I love them!!! Ordered online because I live in the middle of nowhere and made sure to read reviews because most know all maternity jeans are not made equal! They can be an awkward mess haha
With my daughter, I didn't need maternity clothes until about 20 wks when I started showing a little. I'm hoping the same with this one though I appear to be showing a little more than with my daughter (13 wks) because I really don't want to announce my pregnancy yet
has anyone tried Stitch Fix for maternity clothes? I have used Stitch Fix for a couple of years, but cancelled when i first found out i was pregnant because i wouldn't be fitting in those regular clothes for very long.
I'd love to try it, but i know they can be a little pricey in general, and i don't want to spend alot of money on maternity clothes since this is most likely my last pregnancy (unless DH has a change of heart lol).
@karacc18 I did last time and I loved it so much more than the normal boxes I would receive. I had/have a friend that was in my mom group from my last pregnancy that styled my box for me, so maybe it was better because she did it and knew my style more, but I bought a bunch from it, and it was pretty expensive still.

Glide works great. I'm in Texas and use it all the time when I'm in dresses during the summer.
Love the TMW! @ollydolly Two of my friends gave me a bunch of clothes recently. Most excited about oversized tunic sweaters to wear with leggings and the gorgeous maternity coat a friend passed along. I was just planning to not zip my jacket this winter lol.
I'm currently wearing regular clothes to work to hide the bump (flowy dresses and tops) and then rocking my maternity shorts and tighter shirts on the weekends. I plan to tell my boss next week then I am going to be living in maternity clothes and be freeeeee lol.
I know this was discussed earlier but bummed about Old Navy discontinuing maternity in store! I went today (even calling before to see if they were still carrying maternity, said they were) and I'm sorry but 1 rack should not be considered! Ended up trying a couple things on just to know what size I should order online.
RC1014 Yes, it's great! But DH is already annoyed with the amount of clothes we have coming in. LOL. According to him my highly curated crafted closets are busting and a problem. pfft. He knows nothing. Love you got a coat. That is one thing that is missing in the TMW. I'll have to add one!
@sjb2215 same! I checked mine out earlier this week and there was one small rack left. I'm also nervous because I went to Target afterwards, and their maternity section was cut down by half..
I haven't even thought about coats yet, but I was born in January and when my mom was pregnant she got a wool swing coat kind of like this one. She wore it for years and years after that, I distinctly remember it from when I was a kid. I guess they've come back in style (it's about that time) so it might be something to consider. 3 edits later... there's the picture!
When I first found out I was pregnant a friend warned me how expensive maternity clothes can be. I went to motherhood maternity and they had winter sweaters and coats on clearance with an additional 50% off so I bought a bunch. I'm so glad I did! I was at Target last week when they had 20% off all women's clothes and bought three pairs of jeans. I LOVE maternity jeans! They're so comfortable! I don't need them quite yet, but my capris from last summer are starting to get a little snug.
@ollydolly that would be a generous item to contribute to the wardrobe. I would look on a local mom swap page if you have one first, I see them from time to time. My friend who gave me this coat said her parents bought it as a gift for her. It's from motherhood and it was apparently $150. I could not justify paying that for something I'd wear maybe 3 months.
@libbberty yes I saw this come up on facebook! I definitely want a few of those pieces.
Anyone else trying to decide what to do for the rest of the summer, clothes wise? I'm like 12.5 weeks, it's my second pregnancy, and I'm just starting to get a tiny bump. Right now it seems like each week I'm fitting into fewer and fewer clothes, but there are only like 2 months of hot weather left, do I buy a few things? I do have maternity clothes from DD but the seasons are opposite so the summer dresses and shorts are from when I was HUGE. I think I'll be ok for work but it's the shorts and tanks that I'm running out of...
This week, I've been living in long flowy skirts, pulled up to just under my bra, so nothing is squeezing my belly.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs. 2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs. Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire. Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus! fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP! Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)
I teach so thank goodness for summer vacation! I live in leggings and work out clothes. When I do get dressed to go out things are getting tighter but not uncomfortable. I don't want to start buying until I have to.
I am more nervous about the fall going back to work. To hide or not hide the Bump...that is the question! I am 13 wks and don't really have a Bump...how big will the Bump be at almost 20 wks? I understand no one can answer that but I am already trying to plan ahead.
Thank you for all money saving tips. Dresses sound like a great way to go as we have some hot days through Oct. Any other advice about pre planning the wardrobe? Has anyone had good luck with pencil skirts and belly bands (am I kissing them goodbye till post baby)? How about sizes for maternity clothes...do I go with the size I would typically wear?
@bbeaman It really does vary for everyone but I'd expect a decent bump by 20 weeks. Here's my 23wk photo from last time for one idea. I wore a lot of stretchy pencil skirts, mostly below the bump so they weren't too short. Get your normal size in maternity, they size up/change the cut for you.
@bbeaman if you have a Motherhood Maternity store near you, they have a "belly" you can put up your shirt for an idea of where you might be. I was barely showing to others at 20 weeks, I popped probably around 22 or 23 weeks with DD.
As @bainidhedub said, get your normal size. The clothes should be cut to still fit you fine!
I've been pregnant with a baby due in January before. I purchased maternity tank tops and dresses and paired them with pre-pregnancy cardigans and jackets in the fall. Just stick to neutrals and they will be fine to wear in the fall or winter. Leggings or jeggings +tank top +cardigan was my go-to look! I had like 2 long sleeved dresses that you could also pair with tights on colder days.
For work clothes, I liked Kohls dress pants and Loft maternity stuff, I also shop ASOS maternity a ton. But I'm super excited for the target line coming out!
Do you ladies have a Clothes Mentor where you live? It's like Platos Closet, except for adult women. Ours has an awesome maternity section. Name brand, gently used, but extra cheap.
Any of you STMs tried maternity underwear? Last pregnancy I went up a size on my regular VS underwear but I've seen maternity underwear and I'm wondering if they are *extra* comfortable or something.
My doc recommended skipping them entirely as long as it's decent! I had HORRIBLE chafing from where my undies were too tight and rubbing around the legs. She said it actually helps reduce yeast and uti's as long as my outer clothes are clean. I'm wearing my lularoes and tunics with no panties most of the time now. I will not pretend to feel bad about it either lol!

I love maternity underwear! Super stretchy & comfy. I still wear mine from last pregnancy lol
hi ladies - just as an FYI, Motherhood Maternity online is up to 50% off. I scored some Jessica Simpson long sleeved dresses and tunics for fall/winter super cheap.
