@Bababatty welcome! We did 7 IUI's before moving onto IVF. My husband towards the end had low motility and they didn't seem too concerned since we did ICSI also. All the sperm was implanted just fine. Fingers crossed for some financial help. We're completely out of pocket and had no options for help.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
I just had my egg retrieval. We got 22! Lol not bad for a AFC of 7. One of the embryologist at the clinic is a friend and I even got pics of my eggs from her. So far they don't look scrambled from chemo! Still pretty stoned from the meds. Get fert report tomorrow, day 3 sat and day 5-6 mon or tues.
what is the scratch test supposed to show? I had a saline ultrasound to look at the lining is that the same thing?
Hey ladies! I'm jumping into this thread, too, since I'll likely also be starting my first IVF cycle at the end of July. We're signed up for our training course in two weeks. Now just waiting to hear from our clinic about our approval for an NYS government program that helps offset IVF costs, since this is all OOP for us.
DH has low motility, which was somewhat remedied by clomid but to the detriment of his morphology (although neither his urologist nor our RE is concerned about that). We've done 6 IUIs over the course of almost a year. This cycle is a break, which is nice. When we start our IVF cycle, we will have been trying for exactly two years (~26-27 cycles, I've lost track). By way of protocol, we'll definitely be doing ICSI with a fresh transfer. All the medications seemed pretty standard, although my RE doesn't do any suppression cycles prior to starting the IVF cycle.
I recognize a bunch of you, and am looking forward to getting to know the rest of you. Good luck, all!
@funkykey Yay for getting the party started!!! The two weeks of stimming flew by for me. I think it was because there were so many blood work and ultrasounds. They were like a ton of mini steps that led up to the transfer. GL for an amazing response.

@Holls214 So from what I understand, I'm gonna start Lupron soon. After AF, vivelle dot patches start along with estradiol valerate. Then towards the end (I think a week before transfer ) I start a progesterone shot. I have never done this so I'm guessing that this is what you meant by protocol.? Endometrial biopsy scratching, is what my re calls "scratch test" have you had this done? Is this your first transfer? How many embryos do you have and how many will be transferred? Did you do pgd? What does your protocol look like? I promise I ask questions and listen in my clinic but I feel like I'm not getting all the information I need. I just come in when they tell me to, order medicine when they tell me, pay when they tell me to. I'm just hoping what everyone is hoping, that it will one day lead me to a bfp!
@amynico this is my first IVF experience too... we got 8 embryos all PGS tested normal, 1 was abnormal. Im in the same boat as you still learning... I think we're on about the same protocol but I'm not doing lupron or a scratch. Why are they doing the scratch? Do you know? And yes me too. I just do what I'm told haha.

@Holls214 The scratch test is done to increase chances of implantation. It increases white blood cells and gene switching. Wow! 7 embryos! That's great! We got 3 and 2 tested abnormal. Keep me posted on your dates and when you start the meds.
@amynico I'll have to ask my doctor about that! Thanks. And yes you too! Yeah we're implanting the highest rated boy. FX and hopefully time goes by fast for us both.

Hey yall! I'm jumping in. DH and I are doing our very first IVF cycle this month. I start stims tomorrow (antagonist protocol) with menopur and gonal-f. ER is currently scheduled for 7/17, with transfer either 7/20 or 7/22 (plus doing PGS). I'm stocking up on things to keep my mind occupied during stims and "TWW" (more like ten days wait). I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it's so hard not to imagine and plan and whatnot. We have MFI due to Prune Belly Syndrome, and while the SA did show some sperm, it didn't show a lot (60,000 I think, but that's 60,000 more than we expected). DH definitely leans more toward the "prepare for the worst" and is able to keep his feet on the ground, but my head keeps floating up to the clouds. We are both definitely excited to get this process started - and I have a feeling it'll start to feel really real with the first needle stick tomorrow morning at 0700!

Hey there everyone! I will most likely be IVF in early August but wanted to pop in to see what was happening on this board. (**TW** recovering from a failed IVF/CP in June and after our RE appointment yesterday, DH and I have decided to go back into a ER/FET once I cycle through in July. RE is confident in our ability to conceive with our own 'goods' so that was amazing to hear!)
Good luck to everyone stimming/prepping for transfer in July! Sending all the good vibes out there into the universe for us all!
Yes, I'm benched for two cycles due to a cyst and then my clinic closing for 2 weeks for conference/dr vacations, so hopefully August! This will be my third IVF cycle, so far nothing has gotten to blast but hoping third time is the charm!
Edited to add that I just got done reading to catch up and see some great numbers! Welcome and good luck to everyone this month!
@momifbysea Sorry you're benched! I thought that was going to happen to me. How big was your cyst? I had a huge 40mm cyst but RE continued with a few more days of bcp and I'm on my first day of Lupron. Also, I hope August is the month for you!

@allycheer00 I think the nurse said it was 28mm. 40 sounds huge but happy you can start after those few extra days of BCP! I'm extra bummed because I was hoping to skip BCP and do a third retrieval this month so not only do I have to wait for the cyst but then the clinic closing for two weeks forces me to the month before my 43rd bday! Welcome @baker+RN we have MFI too - hoping very much we find sperm in two weeks!!! I had never heard of PBS - that must have been a tough journey to get you here. You're in the right place tho! So exciting to be starting treatment! Your H sounds a lot like mine, too ;)
@baker+RN@BusinessWife we had MFI too, that's the main reason for us doing IVF. Luckily with ICSI it doesn't really matter as long as here are a few! My hubby has a count usually at 500,000/ml with bad motility & morphology so there are very few good ones but there are enough with ICSI!
We got 22 eggs, 15 were mature & 13 fertilized. We hear Sat for day 3. Our plan is 6 or more day 3 we continue to day5/6 and sample for PGS testing, 5 or less we freeze at day 3. My progesterone was too high to do a fresh transfer.
Anyone else's OH having difficulty? My hubby feels like this is all his fault bc of the MFI. I don't feel like that but never sure what to say to him. We weren't sure how successful IVF would be bc I've been through chemo. I think it's just life, we deal with it & it's no one's fault.
@bionerdsteph. Yeah, it's definitely hard for them not to blame themselves. I think it's natural, but like you said in your case, it could just as easily been you! Just one if those things! (ETA and Im so sorry you had to go through chemo. My SIL recently beat cancer, too!) But knowing that doesn't always make it any easier for a person to believe it in their heart... Congrats on the amazing news so far and fx!!!
We had zero sperm in both SAs so we are waiting for TESE in two weeks to see if we are a go!
@BusinessWife Thank you! He was born with it and has known he had it his whole life. It involved 13 some-odd surgeries as an infant all the way up through early teens to reconstruct ureters, bring down testicles, and remove one (malformed). He always assumed he'd have to adopt, so that there were any sperm at all on the SA was a huge and welcome surprise. He is pretty bummed out by how stressful and time-constraining IVF is and I don't think he realized how much work it would entail on my end (I had an idea from doing research). He doesn't blame himself, and he is excited to get this process started, but unfortunately work is super busy for him right now and we have family visiting when we are supposed to do the transfer. He hasn't told his family yet that we are doing IVF or even TTC because he doesn't want to get anyone's hopes up (ever the pragmatist, my DH), so it's going to be hard to conceal some of the things we are doing. Depending on how the samples he gives on 7/12 and 7/17 go, we will proceed with ICSI, but if the sperm don't look terrific then we will freeze and probably also go the direction of TESE.
@bionerdsteph those sound like some good numbers, my fingers are crossed for continued good news for you and your husband! Congratulations on surviving cancer and chemo - that's no easy feat!!

@bionerdsteph I don't know if I can say that DH blames himself, after all I'm the one with the old eggs that are our main issue. But I have noticed the stress of this whole process getting to him. I mentioned we are benched for two cycles before IVF #3 so we are trying naturally this month and the last two times we've tried he hasn't finished so I'm not holding out much hope as this is my fertile window. This is NOT like him. I think it's because this whole thing starts to feel like work, so regimented for such a long period of time that it wears on both partners. We are tired. Not giving up, but really really tired.
@Momifbysea I can empathize. It definitely wears on both of us, too.

Ok aside from my butt being a nuclear grade weapon, I'm feeling pretty good on day 3 of stims. I don't want to jinx anything or rub anyone the wrong way, but I prepared myself to feel like garbage, and I feel really good. I'm on 75 IU menopur in the AM and 150 IU gonal-f in the PM. Is this just the calm before the storm, or does not everyone experience an emotional rollercoaster on these shots? Or does the show not really get started until I add in the cetrotide? I felt weepy and emotional on the BCP. TIA

Idk @baker+RN but glad you're not feeling too bad yet! I think with my BFF, she definitely started feeling it a few more days in... but not much at first.
@BusinessWife@bionerdsteph I'm starting to feel twinges of pain around my ovaries and perhaps a little bloated, but emotionally I'm feeling great. I feel energized, which I feel like a bum for not running, but it's doctor's orders (risk for ovarian torsion). The nurse today said some women feel energized, but most feel blah, and to not be surprised if the blahs do come around eventually. I'm curious too what the goal e2 level is day by day. I have my lab results but no new instructions (yet?). E2 was 98.8 pg/dl today (stim day 3), was 64.6 pg/dl at baseline.

Do any of you have endometriosis? My period has started 5 days after the birth control pills and it is the easiest one that I've had in 3 years. I'm so happy because they're usually extremely painful and the bloat is unreal. When this is all over, I'm going back on BC forever lol

Hello! I just joined the community because I needed a place to talk. No one in real life knows I'm going through IVF.
A little bit about me, me and DH are in the 30-35 age bracket. Been TTC #1 since 2015 with no luck. I did have a chemical pregnancy late 2015 with a BFP, but sadly lost it a few weeks later. I thought oh, this was so easy let's try again! Boy was I wrong.
The entirety of 2016 was nothing. Then beginning 2017 we saw a fertility clinic. Had all the tests done, everything came out fine.
Desperate to get the ball rolling, we decided to go for IVF. I'm currently on day 9 of stims, with egg retrieval tentatively scheduled this Thursday. I'm feeling a bit hopeful and also trying to set expectations realistically. I know most IVFs don't work the first time around, but I can't help but read positive stories from ladies like you! I'm just hoping I can make it through to the other side.
Thank you all for reading! I hope everyone here gets their baby soon.
My TTC journey:
Me and DH: 30-35 Unexplained infertility TTC #1 since 2015 11/2015 - BFP! 12/2015 - MC IVF #1 July 2017 freeze all (20 eggs, 15 mature, 10 fert, 6 blasts, 4 PGS normal) FET #1 TBD Surprise BFP 9/2017 while waiting for FET... hoping for the best!
@bionerdsteph - great news re: retrieval and fertilization! Keeping fingers crossed for you!
@helloworld9 - I like your username! Maybe because it reminds me of all the programming 101 courses I've done... and flirted with my H through LOL! Welcome! - I'm sorry for what you've been through, but glad you've found us and hoping this round of IVF ends your IF journey! I'm on day 5 of stims, so we're in a similar boat! You don't have much longer!! Are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer? FX for you!
@baker+RN - holy crow, my dosage is so much higher than yours! I'm on 225IU of menopur, and was on 225IU of another fsh hormone. But also, welcome! Holy, I hadn't heard of Prune Belly Syndrome before - so rare! Your H must have overcome so much!
I think you and I are on similar timelines - I'm excited for you! xo I'm not experiencing that much gas though... worried I have tempted the fates by saying that! LOL! I hated BCP and am not having as many weepy side effects since being on stims.
@cmiller3 - I'm sorry about your experience in June, but keeping fingers crossed for you in August!
@Momifbysea - that timing is a bummer - but I second what @allycheer00 said - FX for a nice birthday present!
AFM: I had my first E2 test today, and it was high, so I've started antagonizing and they've dropped one of my evening dosages - I was on 225IU of the one FSH hormone, and they're dropping me to 150IU. They started me on a high dose because I didn't have that many follicles at my baseline.
I go in Tuesday morning for an U/S to check on the follicles.
I started to feel little twinges in my abdomen today, so I'm a little worried about how I'm going to feel right before the ER! I'm trying to take it really easy.
Also, a side note - OMG, being on stims (for me, so far) is much easier than being on clomid. No hot flashes for me yet! Anyone else?

TTC #1 since 2015
11/2015 - BFP! 12/2015 - MC
IVF #1 July 2017 freeze all (20 eggs, 15 mature, 10 fert, 6 blasts, 4 PGS normal)
FET #1 TBD Surprise BFP 9/2017 while waiting for FET... hoping for the best!
@helloworld9 - I like your username! Maybe because it reminds me of all the programming 101 courses I've done... and flirted with my H through
I'm on day 5 of stims, so we're in a similar boat!
@allycheer00 - how are you feeling?
