annoyed with ILs (long)

I'll try to keep this succinct, but I am ticked, primarily b/c they upset DH so much last night.

We had them over for dinner last night and to look at our vacation photos.

Here is what they did:

1) Brought over the "school photos" frame, thus reminding us that we are supposed to fill that empty slot. We're trying, you know it, you know it's taking a long time, and you know what we JUST went through. Nice move.

2) Brought over glamour shots of the granddaughter. Yes, I KNOW she's cute b/c she looks just like MY HUSBAND. I do not need a reminder. Yes, we know you love your grandkids and your world revolves around them. Yes, we know she's growing up so fast, and it's hard not having a little one around anymore. UGH UGH UGH.

3) DH's brother calls while we're looking at the photos. He says, "we're ready to talk to you." Well, then, drop everything! MIL pulls out her laptop (we wondered why she brought it), and proceeds to call DH's brother through an internet phone with webcam to say goodnight to the grandkids. 10-minutes later, they're still talking. The connection sucks, the picture sucks, and hearing the kids tell ILs how one lost his first tooth and how the other's birthday is tomorrow was killing us.

I'm glad we've been gone for 10 days and you can't spend even one evening with us without interrupting it over and over to fawn over the golden child's children.

DH was really hurt. I am pissed. The ILs are clueless. It's getting old.
