My DH and I love to travel and we want to take one more trip before the babe. My second trimester, prime vaca time, will be in fall. In my dream world we'd head to a beach and relax. Unfortunately ZIKA is a thing now :-/ any ideas or advice on where to go? We of course are also considering the budget since we'll have a new LO to take care of. Currently live in the Midwest so it will be getting chilly here. Thoughts?
Ps- DH thinks we missed out on the collective opportunity to call this a babe-cation instead lol.

Re: Babymoon ideas?
That would put us at 32 weeks...don't even know if I can fly. We are going to San Francisco for Xmas instead if allowed to fly. Seahawks in 49ers domain. EEK

@ashhsa we went to Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan as a pre-baby trip and it was beautiful. Did see some babymooners too. However, my husband and I both got terrible Bali belly, so I'd be afraid to return while pregnant.
Aeml1985 so not looking forward to the Winter! Hubby is a pilot so it looks like all the shovelling will fall on me. Im thinking its time to get to know the neighbours so they will take pity on me!
I so wish that Mexico was safe! I'll think about vegas, that's not a bad idea honestly. We've just happened to already go within the past year.
What about Austin?
We stayed at the Stratosphere this last Christmas and it was nice.
But honestly, DH and I prefer the party atmosphere on freemont. Which is where we will stay after chawk is born. DH smokes and we hang out in the casinos so not going while pregnant. And um I need my yard daquri
a daiquiri sounds good - I may need to get a nonalcoholic one soon!
For our babymoon we stayed at the cosmo and it was so nice. There were two nice pools (although the week after we were there there was a fire in one so not sure how it's been renovated since), our room was sooooo nice and had a perfect view of the fountains so we sat there in the evenings. It was a really good deal as normally it would be out of our budget to stay there. I'd also love to try the Aria as it seems similar in luxury.
Ive also stayed at the Vdara which was a great in between. No casino, so you avoid the smoke, it's across a parking lot from Aria and a skywalk to Bellagio, and the rooms were nice and like a little apartment. Really lovely bathroom with a soaker tub in each one!
I could go on forever if you ask me about restaurants
We did Vegas for our babymoon and it was nice; pools, dinners, massages, shows. Then the weekend came and I wanted to get the heck OUT..
I have free flight credit on American Airlines that has to be used by January. Can't transfer it, it's three tickets in my name, DH's name, and DS's name that were credited to us when we couldn't go to Barbados earlier this summer due to Zika. So--yay, free flight!
I'm struggling with finding a place to go for a short babymoon. We would need to go late September or early October or wait until mid-December since our schedules are hectic and DH can only afford to take about 2 days off from work since he's really busy.
Any ideas on a good long weekend trip that would be a reasonable flight from DC? Looking for laid back options rather than cities, but somewhere that has a nice resort. We are going to Florida for Thanksgiving, so I kind of don't want to go back though I would be open to the Gulf coast since I haven't spent much time in that area.

Or if you're looking for a poolside lounging type of thing, Clearwater beach or St Pete on the gulf of FL is very nice.

Anyways, if you're going in fall, love the idea of seeing the leaves change in New England. Definitely no zika there. I'm sure there are resort type places up there so you can still relax by an indoor pool. Since you're hitting a beach area for Thanksgiving, it'd be a definite different vibe.
@awb1216 Have you considered Asheville, NC? It's absolutely beautiful there in the fall! It has a super cute, walkable downtown with SO many great restaurants, tons of microbreweries (for hubs), and a really laid-back and relaxing atmosphere. The Omni Grove Park Inn is a gorgeous resort there with a magnificent spa and lots of great dining options. We stayed there for our most recent babymoon; first one was in St. Thomas (back before Zika).
Another idea that's easy to get to from the mid-Atlantic is Bermuda. It won't be as hot in the fall as it is in summer, but there's no Zika; and the beaches, food, and scenery are all wonderful.
