Baby movement

Tonight while watching TV I felt a flutter almost like muscle twitch.  After googling I think it may have been the baby.  Hoping it happens again! Anyone else?!

I'm pretty sure it's too early to feel any movement. Most FTM's moms don't feel it until around 16 weeks at the earliest. And STMs may be able to recognize it a tiny bit sooner than that.

  • I felt flutters pretty early with subsequent pregnancies. I was 16 weeks with my first. I could tell the difference between gas and flutters. Lol. At 11-12 weeks, it wan't gas. I was around 11 weeks when I felt flutters with my fifth baby. It was around that time with my other three, too.

  • Agree with @soulcupcake Whatever you feel and know is right! Yay for flutters!!!

I felt them very early witH my first, but I doubted myself and regret it bc I missed out on joy.

Congrats on such a beautiful feeling!
  • With my first I didn't feelnger until almost 22 or 23 weeks. But the placenta was in the front and that blocked a lot of movement. But I agree that I wouldn't expect to feel anything until 16 weeks or so. Anything before that is probably gas. I have felt a movement that reminded me of baby movements but I'm sure it was gas. Especially since I felt those when I wasn't pregnant too!
  • Em. No.

    Vote for gas.

  • In my third pregnancy I didn't even feel her until 18 weeks. What others said, it's either gas or just a twinge happening. Your baby is SO tiny right now it's not even possible.

I'm also going to vote for gas. Felt my first baby kick at 17 weeks- and that felt like popcorn popping- not like butterflies.
  • Any chance this was a drive by...she hasn't come back.
  • @Chawk17 I'd say so considering it looks to me like this is the only thing she's ever posted.
  • Hahaha that was amusing
  • I actually wasn't able to get on yesterday. So this was not a "drive by" I have been on the bump for weeks now.  I was excited about something and thought I would share. Maybe it was gas but it was something I have never felt before so I was wondering. I am a FTM and some of the comments were not as supportive as I had hoped for.  I have come here for support and looking at those comments makes me not want to participate. Thank you to those who thought maybe the same as me.
  • @suzieq14 but isn't it still kind of a drive by since this is literally the only post you've ever made here?
  • I didn't feel like the memes and GIFs were nesecesarry.
  • Do you know how many times I thought I felt something like baby movements after my son was born. Gas does weird things.
It hasn't happened since so it probably it was just different so I didn't know
  • I mean I personally love gifs and use them all the time. I'm sorry if you don't find them funny. You should be able to laugh things off on the internet. I mean I love gifs. Sorrynotsorry. They keep things interesting. But if you can laugh this off please feel free to stick around. I mean you could gif back if it makes you feel better.
  • Thank you I normally love them to and think they are funny.  I wasn't expecting all of that by asking a question and being my first post.  This is my first and hadn't felt anything like that before.
  • I know it's really exciting when you're a ftm, but the bump doesn't take too kindly when people don't do their own research first. Next time, you should google your symptoms first. I have gotten a lot of that fluttering in the last two weeks, but it's just muscle spasms or gas moving around (the bloat is just awful with this pregnancy!).

  • To validate this Mama, we are all here for different reasons. She voiced wanting support and that's valid. Being disagreed with respectfully without any (if even slight) air of making someone feel stupid for asking a question is support. We can't control how other perceive our words but we can voice support even in a disagreement.

We have all been excited, worried, vulnerable and the like. Let us all extend grace to each other. We don't have to agree but we can say things with shared excitement and that's ok.

Nothing bad ever came from encouraging someone too much and isn't that what we aim to do with our sweet babies?
  • I understand what youre saying @meatball37

My support and encouragement isn't intended to stir up negativity. In fact, I intend to do the opposite.

I get that it can "get old." I'm here to stay through birth and beyond. I formed dear friendships with women from my first board and I'm looking forward to doing the same here.
