@peachy13 I had to go to 3 weddings pregnant with DD, UGH the worst! Everyone is having so much fun and partying and I'm sitting at my table like a swollen grape. It was so annoying. However weddings after DD have been pretty fun. She stays at home w/ grandparents, or she's even been to a couple family weddings and she had a blast dancing and drinking Sprite.

@eazybreezy225 technically you we're sharing :)  plus those fries are delicious, no shame here.

  • @Kirss good to know! Yeah we had one wedding in April where I had a ton of MS and felt lousy the entire time. The next two weddings we have are in Sept and I'm hoping they're still a fun time. I'm in both weddings and they should be a lot of fun anyway, so I'm hopeful.

    Yeah bravo @sjis!  Bravo!
I have a black tie shi shi wedding to go to at the end of September, and I'm going to be so huge. What the hell am I going to wear???  I can't find a gown for a super pregnant twin lady!
ETA my FFFC is that I'm only going for the food.
  • @sjis i actually just realized that i'm dreading the future of being forced to mingle with other parents, whether it's daycare parents or soccer moms or LO's friends' moms. I'm cool with being friendly and saying hi how are ya, but I hate small talk too!!

@peachy13 @kirss I was in a friend's wedding 5 months preggo with DD. It was not fun. Two of our best friends were getting married, and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I would have. We left early because I was uncomfortable/tired. It made me sad we didn't get to enjoy it to the fullest. (And it wasn't even a drinking issue because I don't drink anyway. It was just my feet hurt, the day started early because I was in the bridal party, I was STARVING by the end of the ceremony but had to wait to go get food because the bridal party was going to be announced/have a big entrance. I was tired and grumpy. The food was good, though!)

ETA: I also started out stressed b/c the day of the wedding I could not find the strapless bra I bought for the dress and none of my old ones fit, so I had to go to the store and buy another one and the fit was not great, so I was a little late showing up to meet everyone (which didn't matter, we had hours to get ready), so I didn't start out on the best foot.

FFFC: I thought the Scary Mommy post (letter to my pregnant self or something) that was posted on the unwanted advice board was pretty funny.

  • @breezybee I'm having the same problem. I've been looking at eShakti for ordering a customized dress. They customize based on your size and height and you can choose the hemline, neckline, and sleeves on most dresses for free. Or you can pay an extra $10 for completely custom measurements. They have SO much to choose from and the prices are totally reasonable, it's just a bit of a wait (4-6 weeks) since it's custom and shipping from India (shipping starts at $9). I figure I'll just do custom measurements and add a little extra room in the waist and hips.

  • Just a word of advice about eShakti - spend the extra $10 on customized measurements (I mean, obviously for when you pregnant, but even when you're not). I found that their dresses fit a bit off. They also run small. And I am lazy AF and forgot to ship two back to return. Whoops! But they were both beautiful and of decent quality for a ~$60ish dress.

  • I used to blog, and I got a free dress from eShakti and then there was another top/skirt set that I loved, so I purchased it. I gave the exact same measurements for both, but the dress came like a freaking potato sack and the set fit perfectly. So I'm terrified of them now. Lol.

  • I just gave the security guard at the airport a good laugh with my pregnancy brain. He told me to put my phone on scanner to check ticket. I put it down upside down. He's like ummm it can't read it through the back of your phone...He was cracking up hahaha
  • @sjis You're kind of my hero.

I've managed to work out that our park is mostly empty at lunch time, when it's time to pick up the older kids from school, and around 5:30 when everyone's home making dinner. So that's when we go. I hate small talk and forced interactions.
  • I was in the bathroom earlier trying to FINALLY have a bm. I hear my door slam shut. Immediately I knew one of my kids ran outside. I hurry up and run outside and DS is stark naked playing on the swing set.  :|

So my confession is that I am now one of those people who has to poop with the door wide open. Which is even better for my constipation issues. Sorry DH!
  • @sjis that is gold! I love it haha! I hate being in crowded parks because you have those parents who literally don't watch their kids at all or the parents who hover over everyone's kid to make sure nobody is getting hurt, etc. I'm somewhere in the middle lol. I've noticed that I'm really awkward so making small talk is hard for me ha.
  • I don't like the 4th of July.

I mean, yes please for a paid holiday any time, but I treat it like any other day.

  • @breezybee I know these dresses are more on the semi-casual side, but maybe you could find ways to dress them up a bit with a wrap or sash or something? I feel like people will be willing to cut you some slack at that point and these dresses are specifically made for women expecting multiples: https://www.drbarbaraluke.com/catalog.aspx

@balletnerd my pregnant brain also pulled a fast one on me at the airport today. I walked into the restroom and realized it was the men's lol

My FFFC is that I'm glad that I'm pregnant for the wedding I'm attending tomorrow, since people won't  try to force drinks on me all night. I don't like drinking and I can get my party on without it.

Edited the word preggo to pregnant, because I hate that word and I don't know why I used it. I've been sitting in a plane waiting on the runway for way too long.
  • The wedding prime in my area is more like 30-35 so I have 2 weddings just this summer. I keep wondering what type of formal dress I'll be able to pull off by that time lol.
    Me: 31  DH: 32      <3 DH since 12.2009       Married 08.2013       EDD 12.2017
  • @AMCsquared we were invited to 2 this summer too, but went to one already and the other's in 2 weeks so I'm relieved I won't have to put too much effort into finding something to wear. I actually ordered a dress already online, but I'm not sure it will arrive in time.
  • No weddings this year, but I was a bridesmaid at 8 months pregnant with my daughter.  We met at 7am to go to Starbucks and the salon and I wanted to die by 9pm.  It was miserable, I looked like I was hiding a basketball under the dress.

We semi-coslept when Isla was like 6-12 months just because it was the way to get the most sleep...  She slept amazing in her crib for two years and suddenly it all just ended.  She was in our bed for a couple of months because it was the only way anyone got sleep, and then it was us switching sleeping in her room.  We've just now finally got her to stay in her room alone (we leave after she falls asleep) but it took a lot of bribes.  I seriously don't understand how it even happened but I miss my sleepy angel that would just lay in her crib and go right to bed...  I think she discovered the world continues on after bedtime and wasn't having it.  It makes me want to drink heavily thinking about the last 6 months.

I hate Fourth of July just because people seem to think it gives them a reason to light off fireworks all night for a week straight.  One night fine, but if you have to buy them at home and you are within 5 miles of a neighbor, I hate you.  I will find you and punch you.

Semi-Related Confession: I hate three.  Like, terrible twos are nothing compared to the threenager angst.  Fast forward me out of this horrible time of tantrums and whining pleaseeeee.

Another confession (that hopefully won't scare moms of those under three):  I'm not a fan of guys wearing flip flops.  Maybe at the lake I'll forgive it, but usually it's weird and big hairy toes are not cute.  Even worse when guys pair flip flops and jeans.

  • @tamaraaaa I HATE guys wearing flip flops too.  In fact I asked my DH before we started dating if we wore flip flops because it was winter and I hate it that much.  They have a lot of cute flip flops for my DS and I've been so conflicted if I should buy him some because I hate them so much on men.
  • Omg I love all the confessions.
Mine is: I hate big cities.

I know that people my age "Millennials" 26-35 yo whatever you call it are supposed to be attracted to downtown urban areas but omg I hate them. I hate big cities. Everytime I'm in NYC and I have to walk around I feel like it's just one big panic attack.
I hate the smell of sewers when you are walking in the side walk. I hate having to.walk amongst a billion people to get anywhere. I hate that you have to either rely on public transportation and pay more to live on a bus or Subway line or be doomed to drive in city traffic. I hate that they are so expensive to live in so the amenities you move to cities for you can't afford.

So my perfect place is to be in city limits and close enough to down town but in a more residential part with parks, grocery stores, etc. And I prefer a smaller city if possible.

Tldr: unlike everyone else in my generation, I hate big cities
  • @TigerCakes Buy ALL the little flip flops!! I love how cute DS's chubby feet look in his; it cracks me up all day when he wears them. Then take them all away when his feet start to look like a grown man, because I hate that too.
  • @tamaraaaa So the sleeping problems with our 3 year old have not been as bad as yours but we bought this alarm clock for him off Amazon and love it! It's called the OK To Wake clock and when they are allowed out of bed (in the mooring or after nap) it glows green. That way ds has a visual aid and there are consequences if he gets out of bed early. We started using it when we switched him to the toddler bed at 3 and so far it has work about 98%of the time. Anyway, just sharing something that has worked for us. Good luck, mama!
  • @jackiesmom324 I am with you on preferring smaller cities. I could NOT live in NYC

  • It is 2017. There is no excuse for people to just stop by your house unexpected. I hate that! I'm pregnant with a fucked up back and I can barely walk. Why am I getting up to answer the door right now, braless? I know Fed-Ex already dropped off our gigantic box of paper towel, so what heathen is this? CALL FIRST! Better yet, text! Weirdo.

  • @vvitchhazel I got myself a Ring video doorbell so I can see who's at the door without them seeing me, I almost never answer it anymore. I got sick and tired of having to answer the door when I'm working from home.

I also have a three year old and she is going through the same stage. It's infuriating.... some of your comments seem super familiar to me. were you active on a BMB when you were pregnant with your LO?
