Hi mommies, question. I'm 23w2 days!! Yay!! But I am so confused on viability, is it 23 or 24 weeks, I keep hearing different and have no idea!
(Stuck in a quote box) Here is the (maybe scary?) truth about it. Every day after you hit 23 weeks, the chances of your baby surviving a pre-term birth goes up. The odds get a lot more reasonable at 24 weeks than at 23, but between 23 and 24 weeks is the point at which many professionals would put forth medical efforts/interventions to try and stabilize the baby. So, there is no magic date exactly, but a baby delivered before 23 weeks (and sometimes before 24 weeks) is often allowed to pass away naturally because there is really no known medical science that can save the baby. The 23 week mark provides a sense of relief, although an imperfect one.
