Favorite Recipes

edited June 2017 in November 2017 Moms
Can we do a favorite recipes thread?? Like your TOP, absolute favorites?  I'm always on the hunt for new ideas, but I love hearing to hear suggestions that someone else absolutely adores vs Pinterest options that are hard to find reviews for.

    @MississippiCatfish Those sound so good!

I love this recipe from Cooking Light (sorry, mobile, so linking is tough)

    https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/myrecipes/recipe/noodles-with-roast-pork-almond-sauce?source=dam

It's roasted pork tenderloin in an Asian almond butter sauce (you can definitely substitute with peanut butter too). Super easy to make and delicious!
  • *Lurker* (Also here for the recipes)

I'm a total meat-eater, but we got this from Blue Apron once and I honestly give EVERYONE this recipe:

    Fried Green Tomato Burgers

  • Korean Bangkok Burritos These have become a favorite in the past few months.  I've made them for company and people seems to love them as much as I do!  I leave out the pears, though, and just make a little extra sauce instead/thin it out with water if necessary. I love to put the bang bang sauce shared above on them!! I prefer it just slightly to sriracha mayo!

@RiverSong15 and @jennycolada Those look tasty!!

  • Braised pork is a big family favorite. Braise a large pork shoulder in either beer or cider (250F for 6hrs for oven braising; overnight on high, all day on low for slow cooker) with a quartered onion, a few dried chili peppers, and a few cloves of garlic.  Shred when falling apart tender. Option 1: Serve family style with your favorite taco fixings. Option 2: pan sautée meat with a little BBQ sauce and serve over a baked potato. Option 3: stir into marinara sauce with caramélisés onions and serve over pasta for a quick pork ragout.
  • It's in a book at home but it's called a Dublin Coddle, you can find it online but I prefer the version I have in my "littlest Irish cookbook"
  • I'd say my buffalo chicken dip because it gets requested the most at parties and whatnot, but it's not particularly special, I'm sure most people use this recipe. It's good though, and in case you don't already use it here it is!

Shredded chicken of your choice (self-cooked, rotisserie, canned, whatever), however much you want. For reference, I do a whole rotisserie chicken or if canned, I'll do 2 big cans of chicken.
    1/4 cup Frank's hot sauce
    1/4 cup ranch
    2 cups mozzarella
1 block cream cheese (8 oz?)

    Preheat oven to 350
Mix together cream cheese and chicken
    Add hot sauce and ranch
    Add half cheese
    Combine welll
Sprinkle remaining cup of cheese on top
    Bake for 20 min

I forgot about this one.  It won our neighborhood "Casserole Cookoff"  :D Actually, it tied with the spicy sausage pasta above, which I made in the pan and then baked for a bit so it would be a "casserole."  My neighbor asked if I didn't mind her using the tater tot recipe, and it end up being a hit.

  • I make this all the time and love it every time! The recipe says to do it in the oven, but I have been just as successful in the crock-pot on low all day. It also freezes well for leftovers or another meal another day (it will for sure be on my freezer meal prep list for right before baby arrives-maybe even 2 batches).
  • @MississippiCatfish bang bang chicken is the top favorite recipe in my house! DH is *always* asking for it, if it were up to him and chicken breast wasn't so expensive we'd have it every week. Sometimes I cut large thin slices off the breast and do bangbang chicken burgers with the sauce. That sauce is to DIE for!!!

Growing up, my dad would make "ketchup dip," which was literally mayo and ketchup mixed together, for plain lays potato chips. I feel like bang bang sauce is the more adult-appropriate version of ketchup dip :D

  • I can't wait to try Bang Bang Chicken! I think DH will like it.

I made these Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cookies tonight. I've been seeing them all over Pinterest and finally caved. They were pretty good, if you like soft super chewy (almost doughy) cookies that are lightly sweet, I'd recommend them. They're almost like tea cookies.

  • I have two favorite go to crockpot meals for days we're on the go.

    Cajun Cream Chicken (serves 6-8)
Mix together 2 (8oz) cream cheese packages, 1/2 cup chicken broth, and 1.5 tsp creole seasoning. Pour over 2.5 pounds of chicken tenderloins in crockpot. Cook all day on low, or 5-6 hours on high. Break apart chicken with fork after it's cooked and mix well with the sauce. I usually serve over cauli rice with a side salad.

    Mexican Chicken (serves 6-8)
Pour 1 (24oz) jar of salsa over 2.5 pounds of chicken tenderloins in crockpot. Cook all day on low, or 5-6 hours on high. I serve over cauli rice with sour cream, cheese, and diced avocados.
  • Ohh I have a few. But the easiest is Pork BBQs which is just a shredded pork roast (cook then shred) then mixed with armor chili. We just have it on hamburger buns and I like to add a slice of American cheese and onion on mine.
  • It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @MississippiCatfish It looks like this. It's easy to make and everyone loves it. In fact, we all picked it for our birthdays as kids.

Looks tasty.  I think the green beans threw me off.  I couldn't picture them mixed with something tomato-based:)

  • Oven roasted cauliflower is one of my favorites, and its so easy to make. From the tons of recipes I have saved on my Pinterest, this is one of the few I've made. I usually make this for family get-togethers and potlucks at work. https://oneperfectbite.blogspot.com/2011/11/oven-roasted-cauliflower.html
  • https://onourweightohealth.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/crockpot-cube-steak-and-gravy/

This little number is in my crockpot right this minute, making my house smell like I've been cooking there all day instead of working in my office. :)

We serve it over rice with a side of English peas. My whole family loves it. I never liked cube steak until this recipe came into my life. I'm irrationally excited about dinner right now. Also? Not sure why this recipe seems to be on a healthy blog, because it most definitely is not healthy. But it IS delicious.

  • @MississippiCatfish I like it best with ketchup and not tomato paste. Seriously, it's so easy. You brown and drain the beef, mix it with cooked green beans, ketchup, brown sugar, and salt and pepper. You layer mashed potatoes and shredded cheddar cheese on top and bake. Delicious!!

DELICIOUS!  One of the best foods I've ever tasted in my entire life was a head of cauliflower roasted and drenched in a goat cheese.  It was heaven!! I've never been able to recreate it at home:(

This-- but we use cheddar cheese instead of pepper jack. Something about the green chiles and the cheddar cheese is so good.
