STM+ check-in 06/14

Re: STM+ check-in 06/14

  • I posted an intro in the introduction thread so I figured I would jump on in to the weekly threads as well. I am Lou, I have 1 son, I used to frequent TTGP in 2013-2014.

    How far along are you?
    4 weeks on Tuesday.

How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Theo will be 2 in a couple of weeks.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?  I work in the church nursery on Sundays and my son is so jealous seeing me with other infants. I am hoping that he outgrows that in the next 8 months. I am also a little concerned about the financial side of a second baby in daycare but I know we can make it work.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: my husband is crazy excited. I was worried because we weren't actively trying to conceive, but knew it was a possibility this month because I still track my cycles. But he was over the moon happy to find out about this pregnancy.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions:

GTKY:  What is a wierd/funny thing that any of your kids do? he is just at a funny age right now, everything he says makes me laugh basically. We have been working on manners lately and sometimes I overhear him saying please/thank you/you're welcome to himself while he eats
My DD1 is 2 as well. It is a fun age. She's so silly. Hopefully your DS's jealousy eases.

    Hola!

Brand new to this board. My first BMB was amazing and honestly set the bar for BMBs pretty high!

This is a totally unplanned pregnancy and I'm still freaking out a little (lot). Not just because we'll have two under two but because my daughter has cystic fibrosis and there's a 1/4 chance this baby will too. We had no idea we were carriers until our daughter was born. We had planned on ivf with pgd for our second pregnancy but apparently fate had other plans.

    Holy poop, 2 under 2.
  • @Starynightsky24 my son is 17 months. I was ok with continuing until my supply diminished which I thought would be gradual but I think it's just about gone. He's so boob obsessed, like super upset if he asks to nurse and I say no, so I'm not really interested in fighting with him. I guess I just didn't expect it'd be so abrupt so I anticipate it's gonna be a fight anyways!

I totally understand! Weaning is definitely a very personal decision. My supply dumped big time when AF returned (not till she was around 18mo old yay!). And she was constantly wanting to nurse all day and night. It wasn't helping the supply though. I finally did it because it was incredibly draining for me to feel like I couldn't go anywhere ever without nursing the entire time,  or having her screem to nurse the entire time.

As as long as both of you are happy! I hope it goes easier for you whatever you decide or works out :)

  • Were you July16?
June 16! But I lurked the July boards -- I thiught I recognized your username. Y'all were a sassy and intimidating group! Ha. I'm an imposter in my June group though because I was overdue and my daughter was born in July.

Thanks! He's seemed to be less agitated by it even this week as opposed to last, but this afternoon he was pretty frustrated with me as he kept going back and forth between boobs and crying. A couple STMs told me they ended up dry nursing for a while, as annoying as that is, until their kids eventually gave up. Thankfully when we're busy he kind of forgets, but when we're home he just wants to snuggle and nurse. And being nauseated and tired, we're not doing as much as we usually do, so snuggling is happening a lot and by default nursing! At least at bedtime I let him have each side but that's it, even though he asks to keep going back and forth. Hopefully we can figure out a good balance between letting it happen naturally and me setting some limits.
  • @catherinekate HAHAHA. I love it! Our spark hasn't dimmed either! Just not on these boards anymore. I delivered in June, so I guess I was an imposter too. I thought I recognized your screenname.
  • @TattoosandLace I was going to ask if you were July '16. I was August '16 and I lurked July all the time. Very entertaining.
