@Hopeful_mom  I wondered if anyone else felt a certain way on fathers day.... my OH is of course always optimistic so he doesn't seem to be bothered, but it kills me seeing all the social media posts and knowing its me that can't give him that. Doesn't help that at least 3 people we know very publicly announced their pregnancies yesterday..... and I hate being the person that isn't happy for someone I care about, but I'm not quite there yet.

@SP128 I agree, cute that your DH does your shots.  Mine intended to, then he saw the size of the needle and was scared to hurt me. The first time he watched me do the intramuscular one he got tears in his eyes and kept saying oh my gosh, haha.  Thank goodness men don't go through ivf, there would be no babies in the world!!  :p

Transfer day for me today.  Such a weird feeling, but exciting. Debating whether I should take off work tomorrow or not, did anyone else take a day to relax?

@Aera11 seeing tests don't bother me either !  I love seeing science work. Hope you go to some shut eye.

@Hopeful_mom hahahha. You were right !! So hard to see the forest through the trees. So many ups and downs in this process. I'm so hopeful for you this cycle. I'm feeling really positive for you. Obviously my miracle grow comment helped last week. SO..... a sprinkle more of miracle grow for you!

dh seemed ok about Father's Day. I didn't ask how it made him feel. He's more of a forward thinking type and doesn't seem to dwell. I'm the worrier and the dweller in the relationship

edit to add Father's Day stuff

  • @KZ1126 Yes, I totally understand what you mean! My DH was out of town but was with family and ok with it. Then his father mis-spoke and was like "what dad traveled the farthest this weekend" and called out my husband. Then everyone was all sorry and made it all worse.  :| Makes me feel worse knowing I'm the issue.

    teehee thanks @SP128 !!!!  fx!!!

@kristinmh80 aw it sucks when innocent convo turns awkward like that. Its like there's an elephant in the room all the time.  My favorite is when I get looked over by people when they see me.  Nope, not pregnant yet, just gained a million pounds from the hormones i've been pumping into my body haha!!

  • KZ1126 sending you super sticky vibes, hoping ur transfer goes well!! Ditto on men NOT going through IVF, you know how they say if they had to go through labor...please!!  Even when OH has some sniffles its like the world is ending.
I also hated that I chuckled at the weight gain as thats all i complain about...originally my mother was concerned i was overly depressed and putting on all this weight...not that I"m ms.cheerful but it does help that she now knows.

SP128 hoping that miracle grow worked ;)  Haven't got the call and starting to get antsy so might call soon eeeekkkkkkkkk!!

@kristinmh80 I just want to add that its hard going through this process BUT try not to "blame" yourself.  My OH has kids and he says it all the time how its me and so on BUT he's older and we really dont have the concrete on science etc.  You're in it together, i said the same as you and another on here reminded me not blame and place fault, makes it that much harder, i think.

@Aera11 hoing i haven't seen an update from you cause u slept in :)

  • Hey guys, I haven't been very active because I'm still suppressing - so mostly just following along. I actually don't start stimming until July. Ugh.

But I am super excited to see the progress everyone is making! Sounds like we are going to have some BFPs soon!

@KZ1126 - GL with your transfer! Keeping fingers crossed for you!

@Aera11 - I am so hopeful for you! I hope you had a squinter and that the line gets darker!!!! FX!

@Hopeful_mom - great news re: your embies! Really hoping you have another normie!

@SP128 - hoping you have more good news tomorrow!

@Holls214 - FX for your day 5 results!!

@jcschc - my memory is shot too. I laughed about the glass of ice with no soda - I've been leaving the door unlocked lately, forgetting where I put my glasses, wandering around looking for my keys... and I'm pretty sure it's the stress of all of this! I'm even forgetting stuff at work!

@mrsa2017 - just saying hi, because I don't think I have yet. GL to you! I can't believe you've had 2 ectopics - how awful! Hoping your next pregnancy is a cakewalk ;). xo.

  • SP128 what CD are you on? I need to keep track of you because I’m not too far behind you. Do you know why they do a little bit of HCG each day? Is that the big needle in the butt every day!?

Holls214 such fantastic news!! So happy for you!

KZ1126 Best of luck on transfer day! So exciting!

kristimh80 Hugs to you and sorry for the awkward comments on fathers’ day. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

@Hopeful_mom that you for all the details! So helpful. Not sure what my protocol is called. I take Menopur & Follistim, then add Cetrotide later on.

AFM, had blood work yesterday. Estrogen is 75 and the nurse said to continue my doses as they are. Today is CD 4. Tomorrow is another blood test and first ultrasound since starting stims. I bet they won't see much tomorrow as I am hard to image. My fallopian tubes go up like Texas long horns so it's hard to see what's in there until they are larger follies. I was bit badly by a pony right above my vagina a couple years ago. I had a hematoma the size of a baseball and was on bed rest for two days so that the swelling could go down. I like to think my ovaries got out of the way when that pony bit me :)

@JaeJayStark I'm on day 11 of stims today. No clue on the hcg. I know some trigger with hcg but I'm triggering with ovidrel. Would love to know though. Oh, and the hcg needle is very thin and little. No worries. I think it's the progesterone in oil that's big. Sheesh don't envy you on being bitten by a pony.

  • @SP128 I used to trigger with ovidrel with my IUI's the needle is way better than some of the other triggers. You are lucky!! You should be getting close then if you are on day 11. :)
@JaeJayStark I was also on menapur and follistim. I did a Ganirelix trigger shot. Good luck moving forward with stims.

  • JaeJayStark Holy moses what a fresh pony!!  that does not sound fun at all!  hoping ur US goes well.  Sounds like you're doing the antagonist protocol which I did :)

@SP128 good luck at ur US, its tomorrow yes?

Holls214 tomorrow is a big day for you yes??  Will you be transferring?

AFM:  My update is strange as I had to call my lab for results as they never called me today.  They called on sunday but not a regular business day? odd! Anyhoo the lady seemed a lil confused BUT I think I have another 5AA today, not sure why it wouldn't be called a 6AA, I'll take it either way.  She was confused by my chart but said they're still watching the other 2 BUT she didn't sound hopeful, so i'm hoping these are just the 2 that I need!  Have my RE appt tomorrow so i'll wait to just go over it with her then.

@Hopeful_mom  Anything AA sounds good to me.  Since I'm a virgin at this, mind giving me a run down of the grading system?  Yes tomorrow is my ultrasound.  They will be checking progesterone and estrogen as well.

Side note:  On Sunday, the tech said I was very photogenic.  She said my ovaries were  :D  She had me press down on the right.  I asked why and she said it's to get rid of gas.  Also, she said you can get a clearer picture with less gas so avoid eating gassy foods for dinner.  Ahh.. the things you learn.

@Holls214  I'm thinking I should be close right????  I'm bloated and feel my ovaries just about every step I take.  Now I'm certain what ovulation pain feels like.  Felt it intermittently before and not sure if it was or not.  Is the ovidrel needle bigger than the HCG needle, Gonal F or Cetritide needle?  Those are my only comparisons.

I'm doing a frozen transfer and PGS testing. Since I have PCOS they didn't want to do a fresh transfer as they were afraid of OHSS and I'm still recovering from the ER. So we should be transferring in July. Tomorrow is day 5 so hopefully going to have some good news. Now just to decide on transferring 1 or 2. I honestly want to do 2 since we have been trying for 4 years but the doctor thinks I should only do 1. Argh.
@SP128 isn't it the weirdest feeling? I assume it's what it feels like for a baby. So I guess just preparing us.
@Hopeful_mom thinking about you and can't wait for an update tomorrow after your appt.

@hopeful_mom & @SP128 there wasn't a squinter today just stark white so nothing to show but thanks for offering! I'll keep on testing til AF or blood draw Wednesday which is cd28. With my other two *tw* bfp's I never tested early & haven't till IVF so I don't know if I'd even be able to see anything...haha that's hopeful me thinking a second line will magically appear.

Your grading is sounding good so far!!  Will they call again tomorrow?  Hoping you get the two you need :)

for anyone talking about Ovidrel, I've never had a big needle for those & have probably done 12 Ovidrels during my treatment. They're not bad at all.
  • @SP128 u always make me laugh  :D  we need to add that button on here!  My girls like to be overachievers ;)  At this point I will always apologies to my tech for my US when I feel gassy, but hell its all the time and sometimes it does indeed make it harder.  Its great having my tech tell me, you poor thing...yea thanks i kno!!
Grading is different in every clinic I'm learning on here.  Mine seems to give you grading on Day 2 and 3 by the cell number.  Day 2 I want to hear a 4 cell, but this time I heard 2 cell and that lil fighter made it to blast first, so if you learn anything dont get discouraged and freak out like me on day 2.  Day 3 you're looking between 6-10cell, they add a letter like a regular grading system, you always want to get an A, the second letter it the same way, at least by my clinic.   Sometimes not knowing is good too.  I was so excited making it to blast that 5BB seemed great and then seeing it on paper its not as high quality.  However. this last cycle my 5BA and 5BB came back normal :)   I believe a 5AA is the top grade and one cycle I had 6 blast and 3 of them had that grade, only one normie was a 5AA and the other normie from that group has the 2nd worse grading...so dont let that weigh on you too much, hope that helped!!

Holls214 got it, am I remembering wrong that originally you were waiting to see how many make it.  Were you always doing testing?  I'm with you and can't wait to get to transfer too already!  I totally would transfer 2 if i could.  I just talk about wanting my twins back, i truly believe I was meant to have twins.  However my OH wouldn't do this again if I transferred more then one.  He was FURIOUS that the clinic transferred 3 at first, and i told him one he should show up to appt and two get to the transfer on time HA!  But seriously being 40 they never expected 2 to take.  RE also doesn't want to transfer more then one at this point especially PGS tested, they completely advise against.  I think part of them is afraid that could be why I mc, as that part of the why is still inconclusive.  I wont admit this to him but since its getting so hard to even make a normie right now I want to transfer one also however hopefully for the next child i can get my twins :)  A girl can dream!!!  If you weren't testing would your RE still recommend 1?

Even though they didn't think I needed it as I'm "only" 32 and still young in their eyes... the Doctor recommended we only transfer 1 as I have a smaller cervix and she thinks I could be in bed rest with twins. I might revisit the idea though... I feel you on let's just transfer already!!! Time is ticking by so slow. Sorry about the twins. That's rough. If he doesn't show up are going to do 2 again? ;)  I think at this point we would all be so happy with 1, but I just don't want to go through this again also as I'm sure that's how you feel.
@mrsa2017 sorry you here, but welcome! I'm a lurker too. ;) it always gives such hope seeing those words. When do you start your stims cycle?
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • @Holls214 not for quite some time actually lol.  First appointment with RE is in a few weeks. We live in the Bahamas and have to do everything abroad. Not being home,  having to travel and paying OPP is going to be a lot.

@mrsa2017  I was so impatient getting started, I just wanted to do everything right away.  I had one ectopic, and lost my left tube, so we skipped to IVF because my RE was concerned about the quality of the other tube as well.  It's pretty amazing that there is science that makes pregnancy still possible.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU and be patient!

@holls214 @hopeful_mom  My RE wouldn't let us put in two for the fresh.  My DH asked and the doc said he was concerned it would cause OSS, but that if we did frozen he would allow it but not necessarily recommend it.  It's a really hard decision weighing the risks of doing 2, but also the potentially increased odds with 2 vs. 1.

AFM I'm into the 2ww. For you girls who like the real housewives like I do, I found myself bingewatching the southern charm shows since Bravo was running a marathon during my recovery day.  Good lazy tv :)

After my second ectopic I was told that it was a greater risk for it happening again and it sure did.  Thank God for science because I don't know what I would've done.

I can't wait to get started but I feel lucky to have found this board and to see that it's not all peaches and cream and that the IVF stork doesn't drop a baby off on the first trip.  It's a good thing I'm a realist.

@mrsa2017 I just wanted to share a story with you. During my OB rotation, when I was a nursing student, I had a 34 year old patient in a middle of her labor, in her chart I found that she had a few miscarriage as well as two ectopic pregnancies! So needless to say her tubes were gone! At that time that sort of shocked me, I didn't think of IVF back then, neither of infertility itself. But now I do, unfortunately.. and when I get really low I think of that strong lady and her beautiful baby boy that I was lucky to witness to arrive into this world.

Afm: I'm mostly lurking here, than post, sometimes just get emotional when start to type and then delete everything... But aside from that, I feel just fine, pio don't bother me, opposite it keeps me calm and slightly tired, but helps to sleep very well with vivid long dreams. Tomorrow is my beta number one! Whoop whoop! But I may not find out till Thursday, bc I go during my lunch. Oh, well ... work work work is keeping me busy from all the dark thoughts. Amen.

    FX to all!!!!

@KZ1126 Welcome to tww! Fun times! How do you feel? I feel like my uterus is the size of a planet, but nothing else.. well tired, also, but it's my day of today so nap is included in today's agenda
What's OSS if you don't mind me to ask? I googled it and found some weird stuff, not related to our world, I'm so bad with all this abbreviation.
  • SP128SP128 member
@enia11 fx for you. This sure is emotional. I hope it's all worth it for us !
Mothers are so strong. Loved that story you shared

@mrsa2017  science is amazing. I learned so much from this board. Still have so much. I'm a realist too. I don't have high hopes for this first ivf cycle. My doctor and a lot of people have said that the first is really a trial run to see how the body responds.

@hopeful_mom  just so you know I did some virtual miracle grow with a gentle sprinkle of water for your embanies. Twins would be amazing.

Waiting for call about ultrasound and bloodwork. Apparently the tech said I was gassy today. Left side has 6 measurable. I told her on sunday there were 7. She said anything under 11 mm doesn't count. Right side went from 3 to 7. So 13 measurable right now. Tech thinks I'll have one more ultrasound before the harvest. Says everything depends on my hormone levels. Just wish I knew what the magic number is.

Ive been equating gonal f to fertilizer. A little sprinkle to help the small follies catch up. I try to entertain myself

will update with numbers later. Thinking of all of you. Mwahhhhh

@enia311  i left out the H lol its ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.  its basically when your ovaries go into overdrive after so much fertility medication.  I feel fine, but every time I feel any teeny cramp or anything, I sit totally still for 5 minutes in case it is the little embryo attaching haha!!

@sp128 hahaha Gonal IS like fertilizer!!!!  too funny.

@Enia11 thank you for sharing that. I really thought I was alone when it came to the ectopic until after it happened and so many persons I knew personally told me how they went through again and they went on to become parents.
I want this so bad for my DH especially and my mom.He is the only one of his siblings who has no kids and my mom is the only one of her siblings with no grandkids so I feel the pressure.
I want back what I lost so I pray for multiples but DH said we'll take whatever the Lord blesses us with.

@sp128 a coworker of mine mentioned how prior to IVF and before the advancement in science that women like us would've been considered barren :(  so sad.  I will forever be grateful for doctors in this field helping us to live our dreams.

Question: Does having OHSS stop you from doing a fresh transfer?

@mrsa2017 I think it depends on the level of it you have, but my personal RE wouldn't do a fresh if there was any OHSS. Mine seems to want absolutely perfect conditions for fresh or he wants to do a frozen transfer.  I was borderline but was again impatient so pushed for fresh.

She said they are pretty judgy for the ratings so BB's are good.

@JaeJayStark  You are in it to win it now!  FX your body keeps on responding : )

    Latest update for me:
Lefty has: 1)15.86 2)18.8 3)16.23 4)15.6 5)17.16 6)13.33   ---On Sunday there was one more..... Tech said I was gassy and couldn't see everything.  I'm going to think that one was hiding.
    Righty has:  1)11.19 2)9.12 3) 12.31 4)12.48 5) 16.63 6)17.98 7)12.6 8)11.7

Hope the smaller ones catch up.  Nurse said they like to see the follies between 15 and 20 mm I think.  If that's the case, I only have 7 potentially mature now.

Gonal F decreased from 225 iui to 150 iui.  Micro dose HCG still at 30 units and Cetritide the same at 0.25 mg. Had to reorder HCG and Cetritide just in case I need more.  May end up not needing it.

Nurse thinks earliest for retrieval would be Friday, but more likely over the weekend.

Question:  When you trigger, do you only take the trigger shot or do you continue other stuff like Gonal F?

  • @mrsa2017I actually had 3 ectopic pregnancies which resulted in me being 27 with no tubes and a new husband. Talk about a bang to start off my marriage.

Oh man. Your first husband left after 3 ectopics? Ugh. You know, I hate to say it - I don't know all the details and I'm sure it was very painful - but just from those facts alone, I want to say - good thing you lost that loser!! ;) Dodged a bullet!

But like, re: women being considered "barren". I was reading the other day that that word comes from "barren" like a field. Because in earlier times, like Henry IIV and Anne Boleyn, it was thought that men literally planted "seeds" in women - like the "seed" they planted was the start of a baby fully formed, the same as the seed for a plant, and if it couldn't grow in the woman, it was because the woman's uterus was bad news. The idea of a woman having "eggs" was unheard of. And, obviously, it meant that infertility was always the woman's "fault".

How crazy is that?! My H and I were talking about it. Like, so many boys and girls look so much like their mothers - how could anyone have ever believed this ridiculous "seed" theory?

I also read something about hysteria, how the ancient Greeks believed that all women's ailments/mood swings/"hysterics" were caused by a "wandering" uterus. To cure the ailment, you needed to keep the woman's uterus "weighed down" with either a pregnancy OR semen. Which of course made me think of all the terrible sex the ancients were having. And then my H and I joked about how it would go over if I were upset about something and instead of listening to me, he were like: "I guess we need to have sex right now", resigned to it, like a chore. Needless to say, it'd go over like a lead balloon. LOL.

Anyway, I too am very glad for the advancement of science, as well! Not only for the chance at pregnancy, but also because it sounds like I would have had a pretty terrible life, and marriage! - without it. ;)

Also, siggy is signature. If you only use the bump on your phone, you're probably not able to see them, though. Try the website. :)

    @JaeJayStark - Yey! Sounds like a good start!! :D:D
