Re: TTTC Checkin 06/13/2017

  • 1) Month #45 TTC our first

    2) Unexplained, all tests normal. I'm thinking j just have crappy eggs

    3) We are trying naturally until we pay off our debt and save up enough money for IVF. We were planning two years for this but are thinking if we can button things up a little and with DHs raise we could probably get things started in a year and a half!

Currently 6dpo on natural try #1 of our wait period. My crazy self was thinking I should test on Fathers Day which would be 11dpo but when I test that early I always get into the cycle of "maybe it's BfN because it's too early" and I'd rather not do that
    DH - 34, Me - 32
    Married 7/13
    TTC #1 since 10/13
BFP 2/4/15, MC twin boys at 18w3d 5/15
    IUI #1 2/25/16

  • Not much going on for me here. Just waiting on AF who should be any day now so I can schedule my cyst check.

As I mentioned in last weeks post, since I was benched this cycle, I decided to start up my Rip 60 exercise DVDs.  I am on week 3 of the discs and going strong.  It feels great to get my lazy butt off the couch and to be exercising again.  I really was being such a slouch. I feel so much better now that I'm working out 4 days a week.

QOTW: I'm not sure what my favorite word is.  I always liked antidisestablishmentarianism just because it is the longest word I know how to spell correctly.

Hi all! CD18 here, 2DPIUI.  I got a positive OPK on Saturday night (which was a bit of a surprise because I'd had nothing on Friday and was prepared to trigger for IUI on Monday), so we did the IUI Sunday morning.  It was the smoothest one yet, but DH's count dropped precipitously (back down to 2.5 million total motile, which is where it was last fall before he started clomid).  It was a huge letdown because the entire cycle was going really well and the last two cycles his count had been normal.  Our best guess is that we didn't abstain long enough (because we thought the IUI would be on Monday) and also he was very tired because we were out late at the theater (I joked to DH that if we conceived a daughter from this we should name her Laura, after Laura Linney, who we saw in The Little Foxes right before I took the +OPK.  It could be part of our conception story, haha).  Oh well.  Here's hoping it actually works anyway!  If not, we've started the paperwork for IVF and plan to start that at the end of July.  For now, we're T-7 days away from two weeks in Norway!  Definitely need a break from all this.

@SoontobeMommaHowe I can't wait until we get past Father's Day--these parent holidays are such a big temptation for testing!  Good on you for holding out!

@hoffmanr7 I'm so impressed at your exercise ethic!

QOTW: I think I really like the word "disabuse," although I don't get to use it very much.

@hoffmanr7 that's awesome about exercising! You go girl! I joined a gym yesterday that offers yoga and spin classes. Its really hard for me to stay motivated to work out, but in the past I've enjoyed these classes so I'm hoping that the accountability of signing up for a class will keep me going.

AFM, I am on Letrozole Day 3. I had my baseline u/s last Saturday and all was good. I'll take the Letrozole until Thursday then will go back in this upcoming Saturday for a follie check.

I am in a slightly better place mentally than I was last week. *TW* I still have my moments, but I am working through the emotions I'm having about my sister's pregnancy. I keep telling myself that just because other people get pregnant doesn't mean I won't. Just because other people get pregnant on accident and I have to work so much harder for it doesn't mean it won't happen. *TW* I did end up opening up to my sister and telling her about our struggle and she was super supportive and understanding, which I knew she would be. I haven't told anyone else in my family yet, I am waiting for a good opportunity. I don't want it to be like this big coming out moment, so I'm just waiting for the topic to come up, which I'm sure it will. Anyway, I take back what I said last week when I called her an idiot  :D It really isn't fair of me to judge other people and try to suck their joy just because I am having a hard time.

At least that's how I'm feeling today. Ask me tomorrow and I might be in a throat punch mood lol. But for today I am trying to be a peace with all of this.

ETA: QOTW: I have no idea. I have never really thought about this. I'll have to think on it and come back.
  • @hoffmanr7 and @Kim41313 way to go on the exercise accomplishments! You have me thinking about dusting off the elliptical that's just sitting in the basement!

This week has been such a bummer.  It's my last cycle trying on our own without meds and of course I came down with a UTI during the TWW.  So my hopes are pretty much shot what with the antibiotics and just feeling ugh.  The icing on the cake was when my doctor's office called and said that I have to come in and discuss the treatment options and the first appointment they had was in two weeks.  That would put me at CD31, so I'm praying AF is late this month so I'll actually be in time to start treatment on a new cycle and not have to wait another month :(

QOTW:  Chocolate.  My favorite word is most definitely chocolate :)
  • @SoonToBeMommaHowe - ooh, great news! FX it does not take 2 years, and that you can get started in a year and a half! :)

@hoffmanr7 - hoping your cysts are gone. :)

@Bababatty - keeping FX for this IUI that one of those 2.5 mill is the one :) Also, good word.

@Kim41313 - glad to hear you are working through the emotions about your sister's pregnancy. And I'm glad she was super supportive. :) But also, no part of me judges you for having a hard time with her news last week - I'm sure you will be a great aunt and you are happy with her; that can be true AND it can still sting when someone has great news and you just got your umpteenth BFN.

@Brooke4131 - I hate UTIs. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed you can start next cycle too, and don't need to sit a full one out. Did you tell the clinic about that timing? Maybe they can fast track you a script, just in case. ;)

AFM all is well. I'm currently suppressing. Feels so odd to be taking birth control again. I can't wait to start stims in a couple of weeks. My H and I talk all the time about how nervous/excited/scared we are for IVF. It's pretty nerve-wracking, coming to this point of the journey.

I've been trying really hard to just stay in my lane and focus on my own life and my own happiness - not to look at anyone else. For the most part, it's working - but I've had a few bad Facebook hits. Just like people I know casually complaining about something pregnancy related. My H reminds me that I'm in the thick of a dark place right now, which helps me be patient with myself and my emotions. Like, I give other people space when they are struggling with hard, hard things - so I'm really trying to give myself the same courtesy and compassion, to let myself be angry, to feel rage and sadness and frustration. IF isn't a minor setback, it's not like a sinus infection that lingers, or a paper cut. IF is a terrible, life-altering situation to be in, and treating the condition is uncertain and expensive and painful. I hope it works out for all of us, but man, in the meantime, this is a lot of suffering we're are enduring.

QOTW: Oh man. This is a hard one. I can't pick just one. Sometimes it's "fuck" sometimes it's "song", sometimes it's "sweetheart" or "husband" or "Congratulations!". But the exact right word at the exact right time - that's a beautiful thing. :)

  • TTCAL for about 13 cycles.

Official dx of Stage 1 Endo. Should be in remission for at least a year now that it has been removed.

Currently waint onf rx plan. I was so excited to meet with my RE for my post-op appointment yesterday only to find out that he didn't want to talk about my next steps for 4 weeks. I was super bummed. Even if he doesn't want us to do anythinnnmedicated yet to let my body heal, I would have at least liked some time to talk and think about it. I'm a planner and feel really lost and hopeless without one.

I dont know if i have a favorite word. I love words though and am always looking at new words to throw into everyday conversation. I've been using a lot of British slang because I've been re-watching the Great British Baking Show for weeks! Lol

  • Scheduling HSG test today for some time next week. Hopefully I stop AF soon. Today I'm hangry thanks to metformin. Horomonal because I'm off prometrium and irrationally upset because FI got his sperm analysis back. His tests were 100% perfect so the reason we arent concieving is 100% because of me. And that irks me to no end.

My favorite word alternates. Normally its fuck but if kids or my boss is around fuck magically turns into purple-polka-dotted-penguins-on-zebra-striped-chickens.

    1.  How long have you been TTC? - 3 yrs
    2.  What is your diagnosis? - PCOS, anovulation
    3.  What is your current Rx plan? - metformin, diet & exercise.
QOTW: What is your favorite word? Absurd! and a slew of curse words :)

Temping and and OPKing, waiting to "hopefully" ovulate, though it is doubtful. If it ever comes, I'm not going to miss it! Also not so patiently waiting on hubby's results.

I'm trying to keep the focus on my diet and exercise, since my OB wants me to lose 40 lbs before trying chlomid.  So frustrating, it takes so long!! I go to the gym and try to watch my diet but dang!!

I just learned about HSG test.  Let us know how it goes.  I know how you feel about it being "your fault." funny how when i read your comments i was like "don't beat yourself up!!" but i do the same thing to myself.  I feel you about the metformin as well!
    Married 4 yrs - TTC 3 yrs

  • @jessicaapennington metformin is the worst.
  • I want to cry because the HCG is still not out of my system.  It has taken a month for it to fall from 26 to 6.  My RE says it is just mother nature being a jerk but I'm so frustrated.  I should hopefully be done by the time I go in on Monday for a recheck but who the hell knows at this point.

On the upside I think my clinic is taking pity on me because they are letting my remaining transfers on my plan to carry over past a year.  I suppose being so tragic has an upside?  I appreciate that they are being human and not just in it for the money and telling me I have to pay up again since I've surpassed the year mark.

These days my favorite word is fuck.  I promise I'm not always this pitiful it's just the season I'm in at the moment.  This past year has been tough.

@Worldtravler0522 <3<3<3. When I was approaching my 3 year this past fall I was an absolute train wreck, i think its ok to be pitiful ever once in a while. IF sucks the life out of you and it's a terrible place to be in. So many hugs to you! *i'm glad your clinic is being helpful :)

@jessicaapennington I'm sorry your having to deal with all the crap of IF and trying to lose weight. Losing weight can be hard. I am two pounds away from being the heaviest I've ever been (TW, the heaviest being right before my MC) so I'd like to get back to prepregnency weight, which is like 15 lbs. and man those lbs do not wanna come off. Wishing you so much luck and hoping you stay motivated (that's by far my biggest issue, great for a week, off the wagon for two..Repeat) <3

    Hey everyone :)
I'm pretty excited today.. I've had 4 blood tests over the last 8 days and an ultrasound yesterday and I have one big fat follicle! Yay!! I am actually scheduled to have timed BD tonight :D My RE doesn't use trigger shots but they think I'll ovulate tonight, so I have another blood test first thing tomorrow morning to check.
I am really feeling so optimistic right now because this is the first time I am actually going to ovulate in the last year. :)

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • I read the 06/06 checkin thinking that it was the most recent, haha  :D

Woof. I've been pretty quiet over the last few weeks because it's been extremely emotionally trying and overwhelming. Hey infertility!

I went to a bridal shower for a second cousin to which her Mom asked me if I was pregnant to which I responded "no, not me, must have me confused with someone else" and then she persisted saying "are you sure?! I could have sworn...". UM YES I AM PRETTY SURE. After she walked away I broke down in tears. Ugly cry, mascara everywhere, then had to explain to my Aunt and cousin's wife why and be told that "things happen for a reason". SERIOUSLY!? Needless to say, Ben & Jerry were my BFFs that night.

Fast forward a few days to my OB calling me and letting me know that I came back positive for autoimmune disease and MTHFR mutation on some of my tests that came back late. So great, not only can I not get pregnant due to a septate uterus, but may have bigger fish to fry. I'm meeting with a rheumatologist next week.

Then met with the RE for the initial consult this week. Of course everything she says conflicts with my OB... but she's the expert so I guess we should trust the process. I need to have more testing on CD3 and then HSG from CD5-12, which of course I'm scheduled to be away on vacation when AF shows up, so probably will have to wait another month for any of the testing. Any tips or tricks to get AF here sooner? Or know of a hole I can just crawl into to avoid it all?

QOTW: I don't have a favorite word, but fun fact about me is that I pronounce Room as Rum. Apparently it's a part of the Rhode Island accent, lol
  • @tops-2 Hurray for a big follie! Keeping Fx for you!!

    @Worldtravler0522 I'm so sorry  :'(

@msstephanielynn :o:o:o  I can't believe they said that to you.  Well actually, I can because people are insensitive lumps, BUT STILL!!! Grrrrrrrr. Also, I am sorry for the bad news  :'( That just plain sucks. These memes are for you.  I hope they give you a smile:

@Worldtravler0522 - I'm so sorry. :( Glad your clinic is at least giving you a bit of a break, frustrated that the hcg is lingering.

Hey, did you ever go on that trip to the west coast?

@msstephanielynn - ha! On mother's day, DH and I went for a long walk and ran into an old-coworker of mine, who was walking with his mother. We stopped to say hello, and she asked me if I was expecting. I said: "No, it's just a loose dress." DH said he gave her one of these:

But at least she had the dignity to be embarrassed after, and didn't push me like: "are you sure?". My God! If that had happened and then someone had told me "things happen for a reason", I would have probably said something really mean. Some people are such assholes - it boggles the mind!
  • Not sure how I'm doing. Working nights has been quite the adjustment. Finally got all of the insurance paperwork. They only diagnose infertility and that is it. It makes me angry. It makes me said. It makes me feel hopeless. Another friend posted her pregnancy on FB. I'm up to about 10 or 12 that I have unfollowed. A friend of mine with thyroid issues takes a supplement and apparently it has been very helpful for women with PCOS. I'm going to give it a try. Today is offically CD 300. I am just feeling so discouraged lately. Weightloss has stalled massively and I'm still stuck at 5lbs lost. Sorry to have such a poor pitiful me post. SO is more hopeful. He is already discussing finacial plans and how we will pay for treatment. On the plus side Ive2had minor cramping for two days. Maybe AF will finally show up?

  • @eranvo27 - ugh, 300 days! Anyone would be down! FX you get AF soon!!!
  • @eranvo27 I would be frustrated too with the MIA AF.  I love it how our bodies rarely do what we need them to.  I hope AF shows up soon for you.  I might have missed it but I'm so surprised your doctor hasn't brought a period sooner.  My RE won't let me go longer than 7 weeks without checking me out and starting me on meds to bring it on. Yay PCOS?

@msstephanielynn I can't speak for the autoimmune issue but I also tested positive for the MTFR.  My RE, a genetic counselor, and a maternal fetal medicine doctor said it's not as big of a deal as they used to think it was.  In fact the genetic counselor I saw said she never usually even tests for that one in a recurrent miscarriage panel. I'm so sorry to hear about the autoimmune issue but hopefully the rheumatologist can help you out.

@funkykey thanks and yes I did!  We just got back on May 31st and it was an awesome trip.  We went to Seattle and Vancouver, for the record I loved Seattle.

  • @eranvo27 I am sorry you are feeling so down.  I would be frustrated and upset too!!  No apologies needed.  We are here for you to vent to.  We've all been there one way or the other!

    Quick little update:
AF came Wednesday.  Went in to the clinic yesterday for a cyst check and, much to my surprise, we were cleared for treatment this cycle. I was totally not expecting it since it took two months the last time I had a cyst, and this time around I had 2 cysts.

Sooooooo, back on Clomid since I've officially maxed out my Letrozole.  Yay *eye roll*.  I bought myself a bag of Hershey kisses in preparation so my husband has chocolate to throw at me if I Hulk out on him (I've already eaten 8 in the last 10 minutes......it's going to be a long 5 days).  Also going to be back on Estrogen this cycle.

If this cycle doesn't end in pregnancy, the nurse suggested a check-up/follow-up with the Dr to regroup and discuss other possible options.  But I'll worry about that hurdle when we get there.

@GoldenKeys Could you please update my treatment to Clomid 100mg+ Estradiol + Trigger shot + IUI + Progesterone.

(Hershey Kiss count is now 12)

  • @Worldtravler0522 my GYN upped my metformin to the highest dose she wants me to take. She said it could take 6-8 months to tell if it works to induce AF. I was hoping to see an RE because I don't want to wait 6-8 months... But new insurance doesn't cover any of that. SO and I are regrouping and trying to figure out how we want to proceed. Thanks for all of the support! I really do appreciate it!

sort of bizarre and probably nothing but today 9dpo my two dogs will not stop sniffing my right boob. I've read that dogs can detect breast cancer and hormone changes....I'm really hoping for the latter.

  • @SoonToBeMommaHowe - it is really hard.  I'm on metformin, working out at least 3x per week, and trying to keep my diet in check.  I lost 11 lbs only to then gain back 4 and not budge.  Grr. Very unmotivating.  My main motivation is if i lose the weight i get cholmid.  It's about the only thing that keeps me going.  I wish you the best as well in your weight loss and also your TTC  <3

@msstephanielynn - how terrible.  I'm sorry people are so clueless.

So it looks like I ovulated :) First time in about a year!
The nurses said our BD on Thursday night was perfect timing, and to go again on Friday night.
So now that we know I've ovulated my emotions are all over the place. I'm so nervous and stressed and excited and worried all at once. I know almost everyone here will know exactly how I'm feeling but I don't know how to cope with it...
So basically I'm in my first official TWW. Thankfully it'll probably only be a one week wait because they want me to come in for a blood test in a week to check. I'm so anxious about this now.. :'(

  • Throat punch Father's Day... Yesterday my husband noticed a women slumped over in her car. As a good Samaritan he spoked loudly to her, no response. Shook her shoulder, no response. Called 911 they had him look for a pulse in her wrist, but it was hard to find. She finally responded when she was sat up, but was still out of it. The paramedics did their initial assessment then asked which she was on, meth or heroin. She had ODed on heroin and was crying saying she hoped she wasn't pregnant...

and I'm here pretty sure I'm out this month. 12dpo BFN and no symptoms not even PMS.

  • @tops-2 fingers crossed for you! try to stay calm!

@Kate437 i get so angry when people seem to take their fertility, baby, or child for granted.  that is just aweful. Makes the "everything happens for a reason" comments send me over the edge.

  • @Kate437 - oh man, that is a throat punch!
@tops-2 - hang in there! Not much longer with your TWW!
@jessicaapennington - I'm trying to lose some weight too - I've gained a bit this past year with the stress of this, maybe 5-10 lbs. And even losing that is agonizing!! I lost three lbs and gained it back like over the weekend. Ugh! Good for you for losing eleven and for keeping 7lbs off!! That is huge! :D

You know, I once heard a story about a man who lost 70lbs and kept it off. Every time he lost a pound, he bought a pound of butter and put it in a fridge in his basement. And every time he wanted to cheat on his diet or skip a workout, he went down to his basement and opened the fridge and stared at the 70lbs of butter.

I think about that when I lose a pound. A pound doesn't seem like a lot, but when I think of a pound of butter, it really is! 7lbs is a lot!
  • @Brooke4131 thanks! I say go for it, girl! Dust off that elliptical! If you went in on CD 31, wouldn't you be able to start as soon as AF started?

@funkykey I'm excited for you to get started with IVF and am crossing everything it gets you your take home baby! How long will you be taking BC?

@Worldtravler0522  hugs  <3 I am so sorry, you have been through so much already. But that is good news that your clinic is letting your transfers carry over!

@tops-2 yayyy for your follicle and for being in the TWW!! FX this is your cycle!!

@msstephanielynn seriously, WTH is wrong with people?! I'm sorry that you had to deal with that. And MTHFR (.. am I the only one that says "mother effer" in he head when I read this?) I don't know a lot about it, but I have Lieden Factor V, which I think is similar. I think its good that you know about it now before you get KU since it can be managed. At least that is what my doctors have told me about LFV. I'm sorry you are having a tough time right now ((hugs))

@eranvo27 I can't even believe that your doc won't give you something more than then Metformin to start AF for you. I thought they sometimes give Provera? I have read that if you go 60 days with no AF then your doctor can start it for you. Do you need a referral to seen an RE? If not you might want to consider making an appointment without one. I would be incredibly frustrated if I was in your situation. I am hoping your get AF soon and can get things going.

@hoffmanr7 yay for no cycts!! What do you mean you maxed our your Letrozole? I have read about maxing out Climid, but I didn't even know you could max out Letrozole.

@Kate437 fcking seriously with these drug addicts getting KU?  :/

AFM, I had a follie check this morning and I have 2 nice big ones ready to go! Trigger tonight and IUI Wednesday morning! Now I am analyzing every pain (I swear I have been having a pain on my left side...) and am afraid I'm going to ovulate on my own before the trigger. Is that ridiculous? Someone tell me that's ridiculous. We are going to dinner with friends tonight and will need to come up with an excuse as to why we need to leave so early, because "we have to go stick a needle in my belly at EXACTLY 8:45" isn't something I want to share right now.

MH seems to think I'm going to be able to give this shot to myself and I am not so sure. I know its not that big of a needle, and its not that bad, but I just think my instincts are going to keep me from stabbing myself. How did you ladies do with your first injection?
  • @kim41313 I was told by my doctor, and I do remember reading it somewhere (probably in one of my info packets they had given me on the initial visit) that Letrozole is like clomid in that it shouldn't be used for more than 6 cycles.

  • 1.  How long have you been TTC? 11 months

    2.  What is your diagnosis? Hypothyroidism/low motility/unexplained infertility

    3.  What is your current Rx plan? First meeting with RE next month.  I'm nervous about how to address DH's fertility issues.  He has low progressive motility (29%), and under "viability" the lab had marked "N/A," and my OB didn't know what that meant.  Between that and my thyroid issues, my OB decided I should start seeing the RE.

  • @Kim41313 - I have one more week of BC, and then a week off, and then I start stimming. It is taking sooooo long! I'll do 3 weeks of BC, but it feels like FOREVER, except that every day I'm on BC is one more day I don't have to actually pay for the IVF procedure - the balance is due my first day of stims.

The injection isn't so bad - you might even be able to do it in the bathroom at your friends' place! Good luck on Wednesday! Keeping FX for you!
