  • @jessafishy i am sure you have tried this but i've been having this battle with DD2 and i had a meeting with EI ladiesand they recommended this. it is still a work in progress but it is getting better. i go the tuck her into bed routine then i leave the room which she immediately flips out and runs out the door. i just wait outside her door for it. and then pick her up and put her back to bed, i dont say anything or lay back down iwth her just put her down and leave. we've had nights where it is literally 30x doing that. but now it is down to 1-3x...getting her to stay in bed all night is another ball of wax i am trying to figure out.

  • @carries2018 I tried that when we first started the toddler bed transition. It was pretty much a no-go. I tried for 2+ hours. The biggest threat I can give him to get him to stay in bed is me leaving the room. If I say I'm going to leave if he keeps getting up he will lay back down almost immediately. Nothing else I've tried has had any effect whatsoever.

  • with DD1 i did child lock, maybe you can try the gate if you feel more comfortable with that and just let him CIO? i know that will be hours of agony. the EI ladies told me to gate DD2 in her room when she is acting out and just leave. they can't do much harm to themselves in there.  but might save your sanity a little.

  • @carries2018 Yeah, I've held the door closed and considered child locks. He just screams and cries to the point he almost starts puking.

And listening to him scream like that just makes my anxiety worse. :(

  • 1) How far along are you/when is your due date? 21w

    2) Symptoms? Insomnia comes and goes. One of the midwives scared me away from taking Unisom because she said the baby could become dependent on it, but yesterday my OB said that wasn't true.

    3) Rant/Rave/Questions? I just wish I could drink multiple glasses of wine.

    4) GTKY: Anything your are planning to do differently with this baby than with your previous?  Going to try to get her sleeping on a flat surface from the beginning instead of in the rock n play. We'll see how that goes. With BFing, it was fine at the beginning for us (around 6 months is where my problems started) but I can't decide if I'm going to use an app to track feeding times and frequency again or if that caused me more stress than it was worth.

  • @riverrainez I had that thought last night! I didn't even read to DD until she was a few months old (terrible mother, I know). This kid is going to be so super smart. ;)

  • 1) How far along are you/when is your due date? I'm 22 weeks but the baby has been measuring a week ahead. Due date is 10/14

    2) Symptoms? Really bad heartburn!!

    3) Rant/Rave/Questions?  Not at the moment

    4) GTKY: Anything your are planning to do differently with this baby than with your previous? I plan on waiting til 6 months to start food this time and not Co sleeping!! It was so hard to get ds out of our bed lol
  • 1. 20+4/October 29th

    2. Usual tiredness and aches

    3.  Just enjoying our vacation as it will be the last one for awhile.

    4. Plan on introducing solids around the same time as last, just hoping to introduce textured foods sooner. DS had a big issue with textured foods when he was little and we may have introduced them too late. I may do a combo of BLW and puréed. We will see once they are here!
  • 1) How far along are you/when is your due date?
    23+3/Oct 9

    2) Symptoms?
Getting tougher to bend over and carry around my other kids for too long

    3) Rant/Rave/Questions?
Baby is kicking around a lot.  I love the feeling!

    4) GTKY: Anything your are planning to do differently with this baby than with your previous?
Not that I can think of.   With this being baby #3, we've done/tried all sorts of things with our previous two (purees, baby led weaning, sleep training/not sleeping training, etc.).  We will go with the flow and just do what works best for our family!
  • I thought I did this.... silly brain

) How far along are you/when is your due date? 5months!!! EEEEEEEEK! Oct 18th.

    2) Symptoms? Mild backaches, crotch spasms and out of breath bad. I did not have any of these problems first time.

    3) Rant/Rave/Questions? What are you doing with LO1 when LO2+ arrives? MIL will take over looking after DS for us because he is already used to her. I'm not sure if he should stay at hers or stay at home where it's more familiar. He goes to hers 3x a week but has not stayed overnight before. She wants to do a few test runs beforehand.

    4) GTKY: Anything your are planning to do differently with this baby than with your previous? Stress less about feeding. Omg i kept record of every feed for a month. Stuff that. When the baby is done, he is done right? I'll try to actually use the bassinet this time because I don't want to wear LO2 for every single nap. FX he isn't a velcro baby.

  • I find it interesting that a lot of us had trouble getting our bubs down for naps. I guess with LO2 I can only hope to put him down, if I can't then oh well. baby wearing here I come round 2!
