    @SP128 hoping those follies grow!!

yay @hopeful_mom!!  That's wonderful news :) things can change so quickly & I'm so hopeful for those 4 embabies.  I needed some good news today!  Feeling down, don't know why. Probably all the damn hormones.

KZ1126 That’s odd that they do ICSI every time. It seems to be overkill. This is my first IVF too! Congrats on your ER! Sounds like a great result! Are POI injections progesterone?

Aera11 we did a trial sounding too.

jcschc I am going to PM you since we are cycle buddies and first IVF too!

Hopeful_mom I’m rooting for your eggs! I know it’s so hard to keep your spirits up and at same time you don’t want to get too excited only to get crushed later. That’s amazing that all your eggs are fertilized! WOW! Do you have any good resources on where the eggs should be each day after retrieval? Thank you so much for sharing all that you do!

Holls214 congrats on the great ER!

SP128 Thinking of you and hoping you get ALL the eggs!

As for me, I start meds tonight. I am excited to get this party started. In the weeks leading up to ER, how many times you do you all go in for US and bloodwork? I have 3 bloodwork and 2 US scheduled and I'm sure more if needed.

@Hopeful_mom  YAYYYY that's great news!!!!! Keep growing little embryos!!

@JaeJayStark thanks, YES they are, oh my goodness such a big needle, but honestly, I almost prefer that to the suppositories......
Good luck with your start!!! I was every other day ultra sound and bloodwork after the 5th day, so between my arms, stomach, and butt, I was a giant pincushion!!!

@SP128  Hoping they are four perfect follies for you :)

  • Got the day 1 update... out of the 12 they retrieved they were all mature, but 1 didn't make it, so we have 11. I asked why we only got 12 if we had 24 and they said some were smaller.
They are doing ICSI on all of them I suppose. Now to patiently wait until the next update which is Sunday. Taking my pain meds and watching shows to pass the time. This bloating is no joke. :)

@Holls214  That's great news!  11 is a good number.  Everything crossed for you and that every progresses : )

    @KZ1126  Thanks lady : )

@JaeJayStark  Yessss.  Let the games begin.  GL.  I have been going for blood work and ultrasound every other day.  They were not prescheduled at the beginning of my cycle.

Nurse called.  Estrogen up to 709.  Tech told me my lining was 8.5   Right ovary has a 13 mm and a 9 mm, lefty has 14 and 12.  In the AFC column it is now labeled "Few (2-4)" where all the previous times it was labeled "multiple (5-10)"  Not sure where they all went........?

I asked if they were concerned that I only have 4 follicles.  I got the whole "everyone is different" thing and "it only takes one and you have four" spiel.  Ugh.

Med change:  HCG still at 20 units.  Gonal F decrease from 375 mg to 300 mg.  Add Cetrotide .25 mg.

Blood work and ultrasound on Sunday.

  • SP128 u always make me chuckle!  I would love to pick up some miracle grow - why dont they sale it with our meds ;)  Did they tell you what the 4 are measuring at?  Now that its day 8 are you going back on sunday?

JaeJayStark best of luck stemming - i know its overwhelming you'll do great!!  Usually they'll do an US to for your baseline.  Then its possible the first 5 days they just monitor you off of blood work since theres usually not much to measure so they skip the US.  Usually in the beginning they'll strech you to 3 days to come back, if you have faster growth its every 2 days...then once you get closer then it could be everyday.  Does it suck sure especially if you have to travel far.  The going everyday isn't cute BUT that meets that you're that much closer to ER yay!!  As for grading each clinic has different systems and reports.  Mine seems to grade them as the cell divides.  AND keep in mind each clinic doesn't give you daily reports some to day 3 and 5, others just do day 5.  My clinic does day 3 and day 5 transfers SO they do a day 2 report as well.  They say day 2 should be a 4 cell, day 3 an 8 cell day 5 or 6 blastocyst!
    Hope that helps!

KZ1126 no joke pincushion, i have so many black and blues this cycle - way more then others

Holls214 woohoo double digits that awesome congrats!  When do u get another update?  bloat is NO joke i'm still bloated - not happy!  Watching anything good!

@SP128 hopefully 4 is all you'll need!  Cetrotide always made me itchy at the injection site.

@holls214 and others, what kind of pain is it from the egg retrieval? Hope it's not too bad! Awesome that 11 are good to go! What a great response!

@SP128 Thanks for the good luck! I always wish they had more answers than the typical, everyone is different line.

@Hopeful_mom Yes I did the baseline on Tuesday. Start meds tonight the I have day 3 bloodwork, day 5 bloodwork and US and day 8 5 bloodwork and US scheduled. Luckily, my RE is close to work. Thank you for all the explanation. I added it to my notes. What is EPP?

    What causes the bloat?

As well as infertility I suffer from CRS (can't remember S^&*) so here I am catching up on all of your posts and when it comes for me to reply...CRS, I'll be screwed when I am on the meds. Yesterday I put a glass of ice on the table for my OH and no soda, LOL!!!

    @Holls214 that is great news.

@Hopeful_mom you give me hope and make me see the positive in this process. Thank you for that smile:

@SP128  wishing you luck on your journey.

AFM - I had my baseline, BW and my cervix dilated (they struggled on the trial transfer and wanted to make sure everything went smooth on the actual day) Still waiting on my BW results but the nurse came in and told me that there is a cyst on my left side, which they need to monitor, if its in the way they may cancel the cycle. She then said I only have four follicles and if they don't progress well once we begin clomid, as in only having one or two the Dr may want to cancel. It may have been the look of death that I gave her that prompted to say of course that would be your decision. Nurse Glum I know I only have four follicles we all knew this going into this.

I did smile when she asked me to place my fingers on my right ovary LOL, they must teach them this in school! LOL

What is the whole putting your finger on your ovary? Mine haven't done that. How do you know where it is? For my baseline, they can't even see my premature follies. My ovaries are so high.

  • @JaeJayStark I'm not in horrible amount of pain after the retrieval but I'm also keeping up on pain meds. The bloating is from the size of the eggs and amount of eggs I hear too.
Basically, dime sized follicles which is not normal and ovaries that are swollen. They said Day 3-4 is the worst because they fill back up with blood.
The procedure itself was simple and quick. I was put on anesthesia.

  • Aera11  just seeing ur post - how are you feeling today?  Have you started testing the trigger out?  Feeling any different or just more emotional!!  I cry just reading posts on FB lately its awful!

@jcschc I'm surprised they would already talk about canceling anything when ur just getting started....Like I said before things change in a sec give your body a chance to respond, especially if you already know what you're looking at.  My RE was surprised after my first cycle that I really only produced 4/5 eggs when I should've gotten around 10 at least according to my age and AFC count.  Cycle 2 was even worse when I changed protocols and then did an IUI as i had one ready to go in the end.  Its not easy but give it a chance AND they should too!

JaeJayStark EEP - is estrogen priming protocol which for me is including estrogen priming with the antagonist protocol.   Since I"ve been doing back to back cycles I haven't done the full priming prior which probably is ok in the end for me.  Cycle 4 i did the most priming and did walk away with any normal embryos so theres that.  This was also my suggestion to my RE.  Technically my E2 has been fine and she didn't see the need, however many of the ladies on here that had LOW AMG were doing EPP and actually had great responses to it so I figured that would be the next one I try.  Its hard cause you dont want to drive yourself crazy and obsess over everything and you want to trust your RE too.  BUT in doing this I feel like you need to advocate for yourself too, my RE is great and super knowledgeable...her bedside manner needs work BUT thats not what I need from her so its all good.  My OH doesn't get why i'm alwyas researching and reading and on here BUT he doesn't get that ALL OF THIS makes the process easier!  SO you go back this weekend for US?  what protocol are you doing?

Holls214 why i need this board, I learned something new!  I never heard of the bloat getting worse before getting better cause I swear I'm just a balloon right now and I dont thnk I ate that terrible these last few days.  Thats not true i have been eating tons of pizza!  I'm all about the RHON the whole franchise, I have pitomic on right now.  Watch them all.

@Holls214  I love learning new things too.  I'm bloated enough right now.  Can't wait for more bloat   I love knowing so it doesn't catch me by surprise.  I'm curious about ER too and how many days I need to take off of work.  Next week is my last week of school and I want to avoid using more sick days than I need.

@Hopeful_mom  Yeah, they gave me measurements.  Right ovary has a 13 mm and a 9 mm, lefty has 14 and 12.  In the AFC column it is now labeled "Few (2-4)" where all the previous times it was labeled "multiple (5-10)"    What is considered a good "AFC" count?  I'm disappointed that I'll probably only get 4 eggs if I'm lucky but my RE doesn't seem too concerned!  Maybe I'll get some underdogs on the verge of sprouting with a growth

@jcschc  @Jaejaystark  Hahaha.  On Wednesday they had me place a finger on my left ovary.  I had the tech show me where.  Clueless.

@Aera11   Thanks for the reminder of Cetrotide being itchy.  I remember reading it on this board but forgot until you mentioned it.  Love these boards.

Am I doing the EEP protocol y'all?  I started the cycle but have no clue what protocol I'm doing?  So much to learn still.  I did estrogen pills.  Injections are HCG and Gonal F, adding the antagonist (according to nurse) Cetrotide tonight.  Triggering with Ovidrel.

BTW.  Just woke up from a two and a half hour nap.  I'm not a napper.  I think these meds are doing a number on me!

@JaeJayStark I'm usually just sore & crampy after ER, but I don't do well with anesthesia & throw up all day.  I also get shortness of breath; but I think I'm a rare case bc most women on here seem to be fine.  I did better this time bc they put zofran in my iv, so I threw up but no nausea.  My second IVF was the worst bc I hemoragged & had to have stitches on my cervix.

@Hopeful_mom yup, I tested today and I'm pretty sure trigger is gone (I triggered last Tuesday so it should be but with two Ovidrel you never know).  I'm feeling better, this is when I start to loose hope. My best friend *tw* just told me she's 8 weeks (I'm going to her house tomorrow for a bbq) & now I really want to be pregnant bc I'd love to have kids close in age!  She already has an 18 mo old so at least her second & my first could be close...it's wishful thinking... She knows about my losses + infertility + IVF so she wanted to give me a heads up, which was sweet. Otherwise, I'm okay.  Eventually I start to check out & plan for the next round bc I've lost faith, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen!  I don't do Facebook anymore bc I can't look at all the announcements without it breaking me.  How are you doing? When's your next embaby update?

@SP128 haha yeah, the amount of info circulating is amazing & helpful!  Icing in general helps but especially for Menopur & cetrotide!  We gotta look out for each other :)
  • Enia11Enia11 member
@Aera11 Lady, I'm so sorry for your not successful IVF previous cycles:*| Hemorrhage during the procedure, that's scary(( I'm assuming you did the test right after the transfer this time, so it would be too early to detect the pregnancy? I will be thinking of you, it's hard to keep a positive attitude, but maybe distraction with friends company will bring you to some peace. FX!!!!!!
  • @SP128 the meds so make you super tired for sure!!  I havent felt like myself in over 2 years now...I'm like an old lady that can never get enough sleep, its annoying!  But I hope u enjoyed ur nap ;)  Do you go for US today or is it tomorrow?  I still think you have some time to go!

@Aera11 Are you going to keep testing now?  How many dpt are you now?  Having other friends pregnant is hard for me many of my friends kids are double digits so its hard all around.  I did have a few friends that are more acquaintances and they're all giving birth now so thats harder on me now i guess when I do see it all over FB, but I have many other things to catchup on, granted I still spend most of my time here ;)  I'm still super bloated  :D I'm hoping i didn't really gain another 5lbs this cycle!  Monday I will find out about my embabies.  Praying hard they can pull through and are normies!!

@JaeJayStark did you ask how much time you need to re-coop from ER, not sure who asked.  however ER sucks day of and usually by the next day you can resume your regular activities.  I've been through a few now and I will say there were some cycles I needed the extra day of rest BUT other times if I was working I went to work the next day.  @aera11 definitely has it way more severe then others on here for sure!!  I wouldve been way more freaked out after reading her experience if I hadn't been through it already.

eeek my nurse told me I wouldn't hear anything over the weekend, but I had a voicemail scheduling my transfer for Monday (day 5)  I would assume that if they are calling me 4 days post retrieval then they think there's a shot I'll have at least one good blast?  With the past year of *tw* 3 losses I'm always skeptical first, so I'm just waiting for that Monday cancel call.....

I just hate the uncertainty of all this, I want to be excited but then I don't want to be crushed....  :|  Anyone else get the transfer call?

@Aera11  hoping you get your bfp soon!

@hopeful_mom   The 2nd day they called and said all 8 were dividing normally, but that was still early. Going into it they said 2 or 3 good ones in the end would be a realistic expectation.   I actually don't know why they said that if there were only 1 or 2, we didn't get to talk about that yet.  I think because they like the FET better than the fresh, they seem to have more confidence in it. TW - we had our 8 wk miscarriage tissue tested and there were no abnormalities so I think they want to make sure my uterus is at optimal comfiness this time :)  I only want to transfer one and that's my doctors rec too.   GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS TOO!

  • SP128 hopefully it will work in your favor :)  At least you have insurance!  Usually I'm poo poo insurance along with ya ;)  However IF you have OHSS for whatever reason and your body is not perfect for transfer then your RE will advise against it and theres nothing insurance can say to that.  right?

@hopeful_mom   I'm 34.  That's partially why I declined PGS, my doc sends to california so its an ordeal.  I have zero patience lol!

@sp128  it sucks that insurance dictates your plans, but hey at least it is covering something!!  tw - for my missed miscarriage, they considered that elective surgery to have the d and c!  The real kicker was, none of my fertility meds or treatment are covered, but when I picked up my birth control prescription for the start of the ivf cycle, that was free. haha, the things i used to take for granted!

@KZ1126 elective huh. Insurance companies defenitely have cute definitions. The bills for my missed mc kept on arriving a couple months after the fact. You know, when they billed it as not routine. I called the insurance company and told them my ultrasounds and office visits were routine for a miscarriage. Insurance response "miscarriage is not routine" so frustrating. Despite that, I am thankful for coverage.

FYI if you need to take estradiol, Walmart offers a cash option of $4!!

  • SP128 just think u r one step closer to ER tomorrow  :D

@KZ1126 I 2nd elective r u kidding me!!  I"m still getting bills from the ER for my MC.  The first bill was 11K not kidding.  I almost threw up, like i'm not leaving with a baby here r u kidding me!!  They got it wrong and had to rebill my insurance as it happened in early Jan.  Its even more frustrating to keep having to go over these htings, i think about it enough I dont need your help!!

I feel like I say this on every board at one time or another.  Insurance thinking woman having IF issues is a choice or elective etc.  I dont know viagra is covered by insurance.  Why is a man having an erection more valid and important then a woman having a child.  Why cause its for a man, i love men but find it gross woman still getting the shaft!  You should know I learned that recently and I'm still floored by it!

    @Holls214  Amazing.  Great news!

Blood work and ultrasound today.  Estrogen is at 1,449 and Progesterone is at 0.67.  Left ovary now has 7 measurable follices:  14.3, 13.1, 13.2, 12.3, 10.7, 16.6 and 11.6.  Righty has a 14.2 and a 11.5  The tech told me that there were 3 on the right, not sure where the other measurement went.  Maybe too small?

Definitely better than the 2 follicles on each on Friday.

Meds:  Decrease Gonal F from 300 to 225.  Increase low dose HCG from 20 to 30 units and .25 Cetritide.

Go back in for more poking and prodding on Tuesday.

@Hopeful_mom I'm 8 days past transfer...? Do you count the transfer day as a day?  Haha I should know this by now but I've had a headache all day and can't think.  My transfer was last Sunday.  Would it be too early to see a line?  I started testing Friday and it was stark white and then I thought I saw a squinter yesterday but I thought my mind was playing games but DH thinks he saw it too.  I almost wished I hadn't seen it b/c it feels like false hope.  Update us tomorrow when you get your call!  Crossing my fingers so hard for your 4!!!

    Thank you @KZ1126!

@Holls214  that's an amazing update! Grow embabies grow!
  • Aera11 i'm reading from the bottom up was hoping to see a post from u...yes yes yes come on squinter!!  I do think that is the most you should expect ESPECIALLY being a frsh transfer lady - thats super!!  I know you dont want to get your hopes up - screw it, y not.  You got some beans in there that need talking to :)  hmmmm ur making me think back BUT I do believe transfer is counted as day 1 AND it was a 3 day transfer correct??  Let me know what tomorrow looks like...I would love to see it :)  You can PM me or spoiler box it!!  Seeing test dont bother me for others happiness...but I know some get strange about it

@Holls214  chica that is such a great update!!!  I see some good things in your future!!  You should be taking a deep breath for sure!!

SP128 DH does the shot for you?  Nice love the support!!  Please I have to be happy he shows up on transfer day with a sample and you want him to give me shots HA!!  Thats a good one, u got a keeper there.  I will say in his defense you usually doesn't like to see me in pain.  I've done way too many cycles to think he would be giving them to me.  We've argued about it as i then feel like i'm in my own in this process...but I just move on.
Now as for your follies woo hoo - told ya so!!  Now stats the fun of living at the clinic!!  Ever watch will and grace?  She does her told ya dance?  Thats for you...not to be cocky just give this a chance...you'r looking good hoping it continues!!!  Technically your E2 numbers shows that u should be hopefully growing eggs in all those follies!

FATHERS DAY QUESTION: How is fathers day for everyone?  Do you find OH is moody or acts like he doesn't care?  My day was a mess of things and my OH has kids so this question doesn't pertain to me BUT I know on mothers day people on here were not happy so I wonder if it effects the men as much!

AFM: Today technically would be day 5 for my embabies but because its sunday I really didn't think I would get a call and to my delight the head of the embabies dept. gave me a call.  In a crazy frustrating day I got a glimmer of hope!!  One is ready for testing and the others are still in it...shes hoping to get one or two more tomorrow.....praying with everything they will pull through!!  If you've been following my grading you will find it interesting that the first that made it to blast was a regular fert and originally was a 2AB on day 2 and just perked right up...so praying that is a normie fighter right there!!

@hopeful_mom ugh I can't sleep...it's like 3am & I'm wide awake.  I think the anxiety is getting to me haha. Yeah, so I definitely agree & think it's early BUT with IVF I run on like a 26 day cycle, so normally I'd start spotting by Monday or Tuesday. The only thing that makes me think AF could come is my bad skin.  Seeing others tests don't bother me either. At this point, I'm ecstatic for anyone on these boards!  If I need an extra set of eyes I'll pm you a pic ;) thanks!!
