@SouthernMama15 I am a democrat who thinks we need more sense with our gun regulations but I dont hate you!!
I guess my flame would be how much I hate how both parties have been acting lately. Its like a kids game of one upping eachother and it pisses me off. Stop with all the my way or the highway bs. We need to work on some damn respect, manners and working together. Kindergartners are better behaved. (there are exceptions on both sides, but there shouldn't have to be!)!!
PS: I live in IL where no budget has been passed in almost 3yrs because our dem/rep keep essentially playing chicken so I've been cranky about this way before the election.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@smallbutmighty77 I think training and classes should be mandatory. I have taken a safety class and plan to take more. We keep ours in a safe and I have my concealed carry permit. I haven't actually shot in over 2 years. The day my permit came was the day before we found out I was pregnant with DS and I haven't shot since. DH and I both grew up around guns and are very cautious with them. I think safety classes should be mandatory before allowing gun purchases.
Even though I wish we went to bed at the same time sometimes, I love that DH and I have different sleep schedules; I get to hog all the covers and he was able to take care of DD while I slept.
Also, even though it's still a ways out, I'm already dreading when he has to go back to work after s month off, leaving me with 2 under 15 months.
@SouthernMama15 I'm a democrat that lives in Texas and is a member of a gun club/owns guns. No hate coming from me!
my confession is that I have a magnet on the bumper of my car that says "dog mom."I also have one that says "26.2," and "in my dreams I am a Kenyan." I get a lot of shit for this, but I love them!
I think it's BS when people let politics interfere with friendships/relationships; everyone is entitled to their opinions. DH and I personally just choose to not discuss politics with friends who we know lean a different way. If it comes up, I'm honest that I prefer politicians who are business-friendly because I'm in business and am a business-minded human. Other than that, I am pretty impartial and only enjoy political discussions with those who are willing to not be close-minded about opposite parties.
@SouthernMama15 I'd call myself a libertarian. But I'm a proud Texan who supports gun rights.
I'm a registered Libertarian. Agree with @smallbutmighty77 that the major parties being so against each other is maddening. Facebook gets so annoying because of the dumbed-down meme sharing that spreads misinformation (but oh-ho, "only the other side shares misinformation!"). The only news site I read anymore is RealClearPolitics.com because they'll present, say, three completely different stories on the same issue so you can see a wide variety of perspectives on what's going on. My bottom line is that I don't like people trying to force their way of living on others; the US is way too diverse for that.
My bf is very Republican and was obsessed with every Trump article and video etc during the election. I have always said I'm an independent but I have a lot of liberal views. I had to unfollow him on FB because his posts and things he liked politically were making me irritated. We had several arguments. But then we finally decided to not even discuss politics because we won't be changing each other's opinions/views. Life is a lot better that way. And I still have him unfollowed on FB lol
@DeansGirl14@SouthernMama15 I think any sort of political junk should not be on Facebook. I unfriend or unfollow as soon as I start seeing political crap from someone, even if it's something I agree with.
@aehogan90 same. And if I hear an ad on the radio I change the station. I can't take it. I mean has anyone ever really changed their opinion based on a Facebook post or a sign in someone's yard? Doubtful
@tova24 I'm not currently working but I have held 2 positions in social work and I can't tell you how many people told me I couldn't be a social worker and care about people if I voted Republican. One woman even asked me who my grandpa voted for and said she couldn't believe he'd vote for a Mormon (McCain). Geez stereotype much?
@SouthernMama15 I'm a libertarian that usually votes democrat and own several guns. DH and I enjoy trap shooting and target practice. I do believe that owning a gun should require a similar process than acquiring a driver's license. People should have to prove that they can safely handle, clean, and store a gun before they should be allowed to own one.
I told myself I wouldn't do it but I bought DD a Dot Dot Smile dress for Independence Day last night in a local lady's online pop-up. It was too cute and I know she'll wear it. It's just a bit more than I'd normally spend on her.

This is my issue with party affiliation in general (even though I did register for a small one). I have a good friend who's gay. He's a huge proponent of saving the environment. For these two reasons he votes Democrat but has said that if anything, he's really a "Reagan Republican." I've been hearing lately that during Pride Month some festivals (one in Oregon in particular) are keeping out Libertarian representation because "Libertarians don't represent the Pride views." What? That was the first party to be supportive of gay marriage. So long story short, a similar stereotype is gay people can only be Democrats. I just don't like how party affiliation pigeonholes people! There are too many issues to care about and everyone has their own ranked list, and can vote accordingly. Surely it's too rare to agree with every platform of any given politician or party.
@SouthernMama15 I believe that people are people and that everyone is entitled to believe what they believe, whether it is political or religious.
I second @lewliv on the gun responsibility. I have been shooting since I was young and only do it as sport. I do not hold a conceal and carry license and all of my guns have trigger locks and are stored in a heavy duty Liberty safe. The club that I am a member of requires us to take a safety course/ test yearly.
@DeansGirl14, truth. I guess I should say I'm a conservative. I registered in high school so I'm sure I registered Republican not knowing any different. There are some things I'm super conservative on, some I'm more liberal, and lots that I'm apathetic on or just feel like it's probably something the government should just keep their nose out of. My last BMB private group made me really sad because someone pretty much flat out told me that if I voted Republican and identified as a white Christian, I must hate all other races and religions and that I do nothing to help anyone.
@SouthernMama15 that's a pretty harsh statement. The problem with politics is that most people are so passionate and blind that they can't recognize good and bad things on every party's platform. DH and I have gotten politically closer over time (I made him more liberal and he made more conservative) because we're very open-minded to each other's arguments and try to really get to real information from multiple sources and talk through it. A lot of people stick to one belief and won't read or consider anything that opposed that view.
@SouthernMama15 I feel you on the hate or even the random comments. I'm a democrat that owns a gun (and my Dad owns multiple guns after retiring from the Navy) and people always judge us lol. I get the comments "how do you like guns? you're a democrat! and you're asian!" I'm like uhhhh WHAT? WAIT WHAT DID I JUST HEAR??!!! I just roll my eyes... I tell folks - Follow the rules and practice gun responsibility.
Anywhos....We have summer hours at work (fridays are half days and we work longer during the week). Today I'm brushing off an "important" so they say (last min scheduled too like in the past hour!), 1pm mtg at work and said I have prior obligations. Really I'm going to watch CARS 3 at 1:30pm with my 2 yo DS and my retired parents! LOL....it is an obligation and its summer hours friday! I am not staying till past 12pm, please schedule that mtg for monday, thanks! haha. PLUS I can't wait to take my son to his FIRST EVER movie theater experience and it's his favorite Disney franchise of CARS. LOL
@PinkPrincessPiper Yep! I keep telling myself not to open this thread. I'm not reading anything related to that topic. Yay for passing! You are making me want Panera!

@PinkPrincessPiper YEAY for passing! And I think I'm going to grab panera for lunch and sneak it in my bag for the movies later....movie food is too $$ and blah!
I love how open we are all being about politics, and how it is not just black and white. There is no party, especially right now that is getting it all right or all wrong. I hate how it is no longer about compromise and coming together in our system, it's just about tearing the other side down harder.
I am big on guns requiring some sort of education, background check, just responsibility in general- @SouthernMama15 like you said- classes, training. I mean you need so much to get a drivers license, why so little for a gun?! Of course, as soon as I say anything some of my republican friends jump on me about the constitution and their rights. Just because I am a democrat they assume I mean no guns, when in reality, I just want some regulations and responsibility.
I should clarify, I'm not sure if I passed yet or not. Last time with DD, I barely passed with a 138. Fingers crossed.
Also, I had asked my OB if they had any other flavors of the glucose drink, and she special ordered me a fruit punch. Well, they handed me an orange one first, but sure enough found the fruit punch one when I asked -- I got major stink eye from another mama who was drinking the nasty orange stuff in the waiting room! Sorry, not sorry!
My husband is sick and I have ZERO sympathy for him, and am dying to scream "suck it up" Mostly because this is his 5th cold since I got pregnant and he's such a big baby. We aren't talking stomach bugs or the flu, this is sore throats and common cold type stuff. He has barely any time to take off for the baby because he used it all on sick days. Poster child for the Man flu!
My confession is that I was kind of a jerk to some parents at a meeting last night, but only because the other teachers/therapists were pussyfooting around the fact that the parents were making bad decisions for their kids. I'm find being the bad guy in a meeting if everyone else is being so gentle that parents aren't going to realize that we adamantly disagree with them.
My fffc is that I am pissy with DH for needing surgery on a ganglion cyst. He could have had this taken care of MONTHS ago but wants to schedule surgery the last week of July. He apparently won't be able to lift with his right hand for a couple of days. So it will be me taking care of the toddler and being a bazillion weeks pregnant. Ugh.
I currently hate politics both parties are just throwing the ball to each other like hot potato and not trying to work together to make important decisions for our country.
My FFFC is that I am hungry and so tempted to eat Sushi and Subway at the same damn time lol
I bought a bottle of Tarte's Maracuja face oil to help brighten my complexion during pregnancy (because I'm sucker for beauty products reviews and it was on sale) and have been instead using it on my belly because it's the best thing I've tried so far. I swear it makes my stomach look like it's some sort of glowing, radiant goddess belly when I use it. So I'm going through this expensive face oil at an alarming rate but whatever, my belly is glowing.

Clearly we like to rush along at lightning speed...
AbbeyH my husband has one of those cysts too, as does his dad! But for them, the cyst comes and goes. They were advised surgery was useless in their cases because it'll just regrow some other time?
But yeah, boo to his scheduling. I hope it's not causing him pain, but at the same time, if it's not, just... wait or something.
Re: FFFC 6/16
I know of BMBs that totally fell apart at election time last year because of polar opposite political feelings.
