1 it's June! It should be sunny!! Its been storming and rainy for 4 days and the forecast for the week isnt looking good. June! Its June! I feel like I'm getting jipped out of a summer!
The person selling my parents a house is a huge TW. She was supposed to make a bunch of repairs before 3:00 yesterday for closing. She didn't make any of them. She also left a huge mess and a bunch of crap that has to be taken to the dump. My parents didn't close yesterday because of this issue. They are now staying in my house until they are able to close (hopefully today). They are moving here from 6 hours away, so it's not like they can just go home and come back when the repairs are done. Fortunately, they have time before they have to be out of their current house, but it is still ridiculous. This lady didn't know that they haven't scheduled movers yet.
@bridge-and-wall, moving is always such a hassle! I hope it straightens out soon.
My TW -- parents who storm in to see me without an appointment to make accusations about another teacher without really investigating the issue first. Please at least look at your child's work before you make claims about what he/she did or did not complete. My kid is 2.5 and I already know not to take everything that he says at face value...
@CoastalMomma I totally feel for teachers, the other moms complain to me about my son's first grade teacher, but I think she's great. There have been some issues but I just talk to her and its not what it seemed or we work it out.
@Incandescent. Exactly. Communication is key which is why I was a bit perplexed about why she was addressing me and not the teacher with whom she had a concern.
TW goes to this mom at daycare. Yesterday when I picked up DS his teacher reported that he'd been bit on his forearm. Another mom, whose daughter was not even part of the incident, said "I can't believe you let that happen. Do you not even watch them? Where's the director? This needs to be reported." She just kept going at it, being a total TW jerk to the teacher. DS started crying because she was freaking out. I interjected by looking at DS's arm and saying "These things happen. You're having fun now, so it must not hurt. And look at your arm, there's not even a scratch!" which made him stop crying so he could look at his arm. But it pissed off the other mom who then laid into me about how "I can't believe you don't even care that some little brat bit your kid. You're just encouraging bad behavior acting like nothing is wrong. Now he's going to think it's okay to bite and my daughter is going to end up being the target."
a) your kid wasn't even involved, lady, so back off; b) is the teacher not allowed to turn her back for 5 seconds? God forbid she doesn't have actual eyes in the back of her head; c) you know that 1.5 year olds bite, right? It's a normal part of development. It doesn't mean the other kid is a brat or that anyone has done anything "wrong"; d) calming my kid down by helping him see that his owie isn't so bad is not going to turn anyone into a biting psychopath; e) just STFU.
I just can't even with other parents sometimes. @coastalmomma I don't know how teachers do it some days.

"I'm having fruit salad for dinner. Well, it's mostly just grapes, actually. Ok all grapes. Fermented grapes. Fine, I'm having wine for dinner."
@Lizlann, that would have irked me as well. I actually don't receive as much guff from parents as other teachers since I teach high school at an independent study charter for predominantly "at risk" students. Many of their parents are not involved at all, or are minimally involved, so it always catches me off guard when I have an interaction like the one I described above. Heck, I probably should have done cartwheels for the fact that I had a parent come talk to me in person.
@coastalmomma It must be heartbreaking to see the homes some of those kids grow up in.window.post_1497376123557_21 = function(win,msg){

@Lizlann My son is almost 1.5 and went through a horrible biting stage! I was totally caught off guard and was freaking out with all the reports I was getting of him biting kids. There was 1 day I got a call because he bit 5 kids before noon and had to go home! He doesn't bite us so that's why it was so frustrating. His teachers are great though and were never upset and would be very encouraging saying hey no bites in 2 days! Now we are going weeks so that is definitely a step in the right direction. The weird thing is he wasn't always biting out of frustration or anger. He would just bite... Anyway I'm glad you are understanding because as mom with the biter I was at a loss for what to do and was so embarrassed and didn't want anyone to think we allowed that behavior.
TW is the "A/C" in my building at work. It's 79 degrees at my desk. I'm freaking dying. I put in a work order to have it looked at and they're like, "it's fine, all fixed!" BS, since it's still 79 at my desk. I'm chugging water trying not to pass out.
To the girl who one of my hubby's coworkers knocked up and married and is due in December that I have met ONCE, and is friends with the hostess of my babyshower...you aren't invited. I don't know you.
She messaged me on FB asking how I'm doing and how exciting it is that my babyshower is soon. Yeah well, I didn't send her an invite, nor is she actually invited. She then proceeded to COMPLAIN about her oopsy pregnancy and how miserable it is and how she is going to get her tubes tied because she can't stand it. I'm sorry, something I had been trying for for 2.5 years and had 3 losses is so miserable for you, but I'm the WRONG person to complain to...is what I wanted to say.
What i actually said was: After 3 miscarriages every week no matter the discomfort or symptoms I'm just so happy to have a progressing pregnancy.
Either way, I don't know you, you aren't invited to my babyshower, and don't complain to me. Mind you she is only like 12 weeks pregnant, but she posts on FB 100x a day complaining about pregnancy or bragging about pregnancy. I have been her friend on FB for about 2 weeks and I considered unfriending her, i decided to unfollow.
@labby18 if there was a twat award I would vote for her for sure!!!! Inconsiderate B! I hope that she is smart enough not to just show up at your baby shower uninvited. Good luck with this one.

I actually told the teacher I was surprised that we hadn't had any reports that DS was biting his friends because he does bite me quite frequently. For us it's also not out of frustration or anger. He'll just be playing and all of a sudden turn around and bite me. I think that's part of why I'm not so worried when it happens to my kid - I recognize that it just happens and if my kid does it then I can't be surprised when other kids do it too. I did see the mom of the kid who bit him this morning and she was so apologetic and embarrassed. Based on her reaction I have no doubt that she's working on it with him, which is really all that anyone can ask.

I will gladly trade desks with you. All the men in this office have decided that 70 is an appropriate temp. I have a heater going and have every day, forever.

70 sounds amazing. I can always put more layers on and a heater. But there reaches a point where you can't wear any LESS at work without becoming scandalous!!
Oh jeeze 70 is still warm. Our house is set on 66 and I still have a fan on high in our room! Haha I'm a hot box all the time.
I would die!! Our house is at 77. and I usually still wear pants to bed! I really do wish I was not this way though. I freeze everywhere inside in the summer and I know I'm the minority so nobody wants to change the temp just for me.

Haha very true about removing clothes! I'm jealous though. I'd rather be hot, mainly because I'm not not sure how it would feel. I don't know why I bother shaving my legs.

This is me! When we use the AC in our house we keep it at 78 and sometimes 80. I am always freezing inside in the summer and have to bring layers with me everywhere. I'm hoping pregnancy might keep me a little warmer this summer.
