  • I still have just over 3 weeks but can't wait!!! Congratulations to all the ladies!
  • 6 more days....
  • Is anyone doing anything to celebrate?  I've been given two different due dates and one of them is the 2nd which means that if I go by that then this Thursday I hit my halfway point. DH wants to go out and celebrate because Thursday also happens to be his day off . Is that weird?
  • Also yay @baycamp does it feel so surreal?
  • @bcashaw Well, I am biased because we will be celebrating my birthday for the 20 week mark, but hey, life is short...celebrate away!
  • @BayCamp It does feel like it's flying by. I have two due dates (Nov 5th and Nov 9th though I'm going by Nov 9th as I had IVF) and I cannot believe I'm almost halfway through.

I'm 17 weeks but will be induced at 37 weeks if I don't have them before then, so I'm half baked over here too! Only 8 more days until our anatomy scan and we can (hopefully) find out what these little babes are!

Edit: Apparently I can't add and half way is 18.5 weeks not 17 lol Damnit! I still have a little while to go.

@bcashaw Girl celebrate! Life is too short not to live it up if you feel like it :)

I'll be at 20 weeks next Saturday! We finally posted something about the pregnancy on social media yesterday after my MIL spilled the beans in a comment. It's been a nice way to "celebrate" a little bit. I honestly feel like I'll really be halfway at 21 weeks since my babes tend to hang out in my uterus forever, lol :) I'm planning for a mid-November birth even though my due date is the 4th!

Looks like I'm just about half way as well. My Dr. sais because of my history he will do the c-section 7-10 days before my due date (Nov. 13th). So it looks like it will be an early Nove baby for me!

  • I'm having my repeat c-section at 38 or 39 weeks so I'm halfway already!! My A/S is this Friday so we will finally be announcing the pregnancy+sex soon! Saturday is DD1s birthday party, Sunday is Fathers Day, and Monday is DD1s actual birthday! Lots of fun.  :) Not sure when we will announce yet though. I don't want to steal any of DD1s birthday thunder.
  • @baby3forme you haven't announced your pregnancy yet? That's amazing! I was dying to announce it like six weeks in.

  • @Ladybentspoon Nope! I wanted to right away but it just never happened and then we got our A/S scheduled and figured we might as well wait and announce everything at once! The only people who know are my sister, a work friend, and HR.
  • Halfway mark Wednesday! Due date Nov 1st but I'll probably have her a week earlier due to gestational diabetes. We have our AS Thursday! Yay for being halfway to our babies.

@AmberG34 Thats why I'll go early as well.  Should have a c-section between Nov 3 -Nov 6. I don't need to start regulating my GD until around 24 weeks. We should have our own thread!

  • I'll be half way on Friday...same day we get anatomy scan and find out gender. Yay!
  • @2Dash we definitely should! I've been waiting for someone too start one lol. I've been feeling like I can't be the only one. I had GD with my first so had to be tested early for it and unfortunately GD came back for me a 2nd time.

@2Dash @AmberG34 I was going to ask how you knew already - early testing? My doctor isn't testing until later, though I've heard that testing early will give a valid result so I thought it was odd to not always test 'early'. Is there something special about regulating it after 24 weeks but not before? I haven't read up much about GD yet so I'm sorry if it's very concerning or restrictive!

@car1a @AmberG34 - I asked my Dr. yesterday and he said waiting until  24 weeks is fine as the baby is still small at that point. I've been trying not to eat bad food (difficult) or do things like drink pop and juice.  This will be my third time with GD.  The first to times I could control with diet for a number of weeks and towards the end needed insulin (boo).  But both my babies were healthy so I'll do whatever it takes.  For a lot of people their morning reading is really high but mine is actually too low so I can eat a little more (fruit etc.) in the morning.

  • I asked my midwife about testing for GD and she said she didn't think it's nessicary (I'm healthy, eat well, have no family history of it) but if I want to do the test she has no problem .
Is this normal? Is it okay for me to not test or should I do it just in case?
I have NOT been eating well since I've gotten over my morning sickness
  • @bcashaw Are you requesting it to be done now or just inquiring about it? Definitely something that's up to you and your doctor, but if you want it I'd get it done when the time comes between 24w-28w.

  • @2dash yeah I know that, I wasn't at all trying to say that GD is only if you're unhealthy, I totally know that's not the case. Sorry if it came out that way.  I was more saying that because I eat healthy and don't have a family history she doesn't think it's nessicary to test. But because personally my lifestyle hasn't been great I wonder if that could be a factor for me and I should get tested.
@ElizabethSchuyler I'm just inquiring about it. I don't really want to do the test because it is obviously not enjoyable, but wonder if it's worth my peace of mind.
  • @bcashaw I personally would get tested no matter what. There are a lot of risks with having GD which would be something you obviously would want to know about. Plus, GD requires a strict diet and it would be a shame if you ate unhealthy your entire pregnancy simply because you thought you could.
  • @bcashaw I think GD is similar to preeclampsia in that it can affect any woman, no rhyme or reason. I'd personally get it done because there aren't really any symptoms for you to raise questions later on but if you and your doctor agree you don't need it then don't do it.

  • @bcashaw I have nothing that indicates I'm at risk for GD, no family history or anything, but I still plan on getting tested because it could still happen and I'd like to know either way.

  • Thanks ladies. That's the direction I was going as well, just wanted to check in and see if it was normal to not get tested. I do think I want to because the risks of GD totally outweigh the discomfort of doing the test
