When I was pregnant with DD, I was the model of pregnancy glow—great skin and hair. This time around it's hair loss and major acne/greasy skin (maybe it's a boy?) Anyone else suffering with this and does the acne go away?

I had some minor acne a couple of weeks ago, but just noticed today that my skin looks pretty good! Hair wise I'm doing well, except for the fact that increase in hair growth isn't just restricted to the head... I feel like I have to shave my legs way more often now!

@abcola weird but I just remembered with my first, the hair on my legs stopped growing. I don't think I shaved my legs once during the 2nd & 3rd trimesters.
  • @abcola I have always been very lucky and only had to shave my legs once every month or so. Now my leg hair is growing so much faster!

  • @sjis So crazy how every woman's experiences are different during pregnancy. With DS I had an amazing glow, great hair and amazing skin. With this baby girl my skin broke out in the beginning but is clearing up and my hair is falling out.
  • Kind of freaking out. I just got a call from MFM to schedule my screening. The scheduling lady told me they're not contracted with my insurance. I had already checked with my insurance to see if it would be covered, and it isn't unless it's ordered by a doctor (which it wasn't, it was optional). I'm waiting for the billing lady to call me back because she wasn't available, but in the meantime... If they aren't contracted with my insurance company, does that mean they won't even be able to run it through my insurance so it adds to my out-of-pocket max?!

Also no idea how they aren't contracted with my insurance when my U/S in radiology/my appts with my OB (who are all under this same healthcare system's umbrella) are...

  • I glowed with my first 2. I don't feel so glowy this time though. First 2 were boys, this one is a girl.

I am in a lot of pain though. The pulling with my muscles where baby is growing HURTS. It feels like constant RLP. Like just lifting my leg just to put my foot in my pants has my muscles on fire. I'm thinking this can't be normal. Anyone?
  • @MJDsquared  are there other MFM options nearby?

with my first, samesies on the leg hair slowing down. it was GLORIOUS. this time? the opposite. lame.

  • @anewadventure There probably are, but I'm not sure if my OB would/could refer me to one outside of the Legacy Health umbrella that she's under. Honestly if it's going to be many hundreds of dollars and not go towards my OOP max at all, I'll probably just not do it.

  • Oy, sorry @MJDsquared. I have Kaiser, so I'm completely lost on regular insurance practices. Hope they can figure it out!
  • This pregnancy has been completely different than the last. I have acne at baseline but with DS it cleared right up and I glowed. This time it's not changing. And the reflux. Ugh. It's not like heartburn but it just feels like food is sitting in the very top of my stomach and won't go down... so uncomfortable.
Everyone keeps telling me it must be a girl!

  • @breezybee I have Kaiser too, which is a pain, because they don't really have Kaiser hospitals/offices here. But I don't get why all the other Legacy Health places I've been have been able to bill Kaiser. Oy. Though, the radiology dept did say they didn't think their services would be covered under Kaiser, and they were. But not having a contract with Kaiser/not being covered under Kaiser sound different to me!

  • @MJDsquared I hope you can work it all out! I have heard of hospitals being covered but NICUs within the hospital not being covered, and we had to check when DD was born because at our hospital all babies are seen by neonatologists, not pediatricians, and they contract out the neonatal care to this one practice, so we had to make sure it was covered as well as our hospital and our doctor. Healthcare is confusing and annoying.

  • @MJDsquared Strange. I know that Kaiser partners with other insurance companies for things they don't have, like mental health services, etc. We have about 3 Kaiser hospitals within a 10 mile radius, so I haven't had to use their outsourcing for any medical stuff. Have you tried calling the Kaiser insurance line?  I'm sure you have, just thinking out loud...
  • @breezybee I haven't called today about this issue. I plan on waiting until the billing lady from MFM calls and basically asking her a million questions, then if I'm not satisfied, I'll have to check with Kaiser. But Legacy Health overall is listed as covered for me. It's kind of a unique situation because my insurance through work was Group Health, which is mainly in Washington, so I already was going to places that weren't specifically Group Health since I'm in Oregon. Then Kaiser bought Group Health and it's a mess.

  • @brittabatwhite  do you have minor or major placenta previa? any talk of extra iron supplements or limits on your activity?

@MJDsquared unfortunately, if they are not contracted with your insurance and it is not run through your insurance, it will not go toward your out of pocket max as that is for covered expenses only. It'll just be an out of pocket expense. Sorry! I'm a licensed insurance agent, and even I hate how the system works.
  • Minor. I have to have my blood work checked regularly. I have always had anemia issues so I'm taking extra iron already. I'm just supposed to monitor any symptoms and keep my doctors informed.
  • Is morning sickness supposed to get worse towards the end of the first trimester? Im 11 weeks and I feel worse now than I have the entire time leading up to this.
  • kyrwynkyrwyn member
@mrsnt816 Weeks 11 & 12 were the absolute worst for me, and then 13 was slightly better (back to previous yucky-ness), 14 was significantly better and 15 (so far) is the best I've felt since finding out we were expecting.

  • @kyrwyn thank you. That makes me feel better? Haha in my mind at least
  • @mrsnt816 I'm it sure if it's supposed to but mine got worse between weeks 11-13.  I'm 13+4 and I've had two ok days where I've only gotten sick once. I'm hoping it's a new trend. I hope you feel better soon.

  • @brittabatwhite isn't that the type that can potentially get better with time as your uterus grows? Like your placenta could shift up as there is more room?

  • I'm in week 11 and my MS has never been worse. I feel like I can't do anything. Ugh.
  • I'm 12 weeks and literally have no symptoms. I threw up for like 2 weeks and was tired but since 9 weeks, nothing. It's freaking me out. I was miserable until like 20 weeks with DS. Should I be worried? I don't feel pregnant at all.
  • @mrsnt816 I was so sick 11 weeks. I am 13.4 and it's getting better. Like I've had a few good days. I've not taken meds in 2 days. Still sick but tolerable. I hope it keeps getting better. I was sick sooooo long with DD.

  • Omg yass @mrsnt816 @Brooklyngirl6 @breezybee @dkizz82 yes for the first time I threw up at work and I'm 11 weeks and it wasn't a pretty one it was like 30 minutes ugh y now
  • @jackiesmom324 I know! It's crazy. 12 wasn't much better. 13 has been better, not great but some relief.

  • @brooklyngirl6 I am 15+5 and I have barely had symptoms. The only clue that I am pregnant right now is that I have to pee all the time, which is also partly because all the water I'm drinking! Don't stress, there are a lot of ladies on here with minimal symptoms.

  • @Brooklyngirl6 I felt the same at 12 weeks, and then a few days in started feeling that stretching cramps feeling again.  It comes and goes for me still-- at 15w now!
  • 15 weeks today and I've been in the bathroom throwing up twice now.  :(

  • @Brooklyngirl6 @ktcakes87 I'm one of those minimal-symptoms mamas. I don't like to talk about it too much here because I know I'm among a small (lucky) minority, but on most days I sort of wonder if I'm pregnant at all. It's a little scary and a little sad not to be feeling anything, but so far the doctors are convinced there's a baby in there, so I'll take their word for it and enjoy an easy pregnancy. (Again, so sorry to those moms suffering through this experience, I wish I could take on some of your symptoms and give you some relief.)

  • I envy the ladies without any symptoms. I am at week 12 and it seems like my nausea got worse are week 11. I already threw up thrice today ugh. I am also tired all the time. Hopefully the doctor will be able to give me something for the nausea today.
  • @YodaIsGreen the dr definitely should. I'm been on diclegis and phenergan for several
