I have my 1 hr today. Let's hope it goes well. I have been having some real anxiety about it over the weekend. I don't have a history of it it anything but this baby loves sugar so I guess I am just paranoid about it.

Had my 1 hour on Friday and totally failed (190). I have PCOS so not sure if that is impacting things. going back for a 3 hour this week.

@tfrangul I'm almost done. The first hour and a half wasn't the most pleasant for me, but I've been ok since then... 10 more min to go! My little babe loves sugar too!

Back at home after the 3 hr. I agree the first hour is the hardest. Now I am ready for a nap! I do not get results until tomorrow. Good luck ladies!

@BecauseLove I have PCOS as well. Since PCOS is frequently accompanied by / causes insulin resistance, it can certainly impact GD testing. It puts you at a higher risk for developing GD or diabetes in general.

JNR6510 boo...darn pcos. Oh well. Hopefully if I get some version of GD it will be just that and nothing worse...but was hoping to not have that either.

So I just got my results - 131. Last pregnancy I was 138 and the cutoff was 135. Now they are saying cutoff changed less than 2 years later. Curious what your OB's consider the cutoff??

@maryleffue my OB uses 140 as the cutoff.

My OB uses 130 as a cutoff. He said it often varies by location - areas with higher rates of diabetes will sometimes use a lower cut off. Because the 1 hour is "just a screen" they would rather set it lower and catch everyone, than have it be somewhat higher and potentially miss a GD diagnosis (after the 3 hr). He did tell me that about 50% of women who fail the 1 hr screen go on to pass the 3 hr test with flying colors.

ETA: As much as I am NOT looking forward to my 3 hour, I would much rather be inconvenienced and feel gross, than miss a GD diagnosis that could harm us both. KWIM?

What are those numbers in? I did my 1hr and this is mine below. ETA: I mean the numbers as in 130--150 etc . I passed mine and I'm just curious.

@cchenal07 I'm so sorry you failed the test. I think there are a few other ladies on here with GD. Some of them post on the High Risk thread. Try not to freak out too much. Plenty of women with GD have perfectly healthy babies.

Do you move to an OB if you have GD? I have been working with a family practice Dr. for delivery but am now worried that we will need to look into an OB if I don't pass my 3 hour GD test.

Just was curious if others on the board had to change from a Family Dr to an OB dr. or specialist.

@BecauseLove I think most of us already see either an OB or a midwife, so I'm not sure that anyone will have useful experience.

Good luck with the 3 hour test, though. Hope you pass and it becomes a non-issue.

I passed my three hour! I'm actually kind of surprised. I've been convinced I'd have gestational diabetes since before I was even pregnant due to risk factors and just... Thinking it would be a thing. Definitely happy though!

I have to admire all you ladies who have sat through the three hour. Some days I have to eat every 30 minutes. I don't think any medical office can handle a hangry lizlann. If I fail the 1 hour, can I please just go ahead and assume I have GD and skip the three hour? That'd be great. Thanks.

My husband and bf kept saying, "are you SURE you don't want one of us to come sit with you? Drive you home?" And I was like... I will have been fasting for 16 hours by the time I get done... nobody wants to spend time with me. I am not going to want to make polite conversation. I just want to get it over with, stuff my face with a Dunkin Donuts bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant, and quietly die on the couch for the rest of the day.

Although I did almost beat the lab tech up.
1. I walked in and she was like, "you look like you're ready to have that baby any minute!"

2. she argued with me about what time to do my second (first hour) blood draw. She called my name at 9:30 and said it was time.
Me: No it's not. It's not due until 9:45.
Her: You finished your drink at 8:30.
Me: look at this sign in sheet. I arrived HERE at 8:32
Her (rustling through paperwork): It's an hour from when you FINISH THE DRINK.
Me: Yes. But if I arrived here at 8:32, and you took my fasting blood draw, and then I drank the glucola, I couldn't have been done at 8:30. You wrote 8:40 on the vial after that blood draw. Then I had the drink.
Her (finding the paperwork): Oh. 9:45, ok.

3. Her son graduated high school Tuesday night, so she watched the video of him walking across the stage (and everyone screaming and clapping) on her phone, on repeat, at full volume, for a half hour.

@jena333-2 She sounds like a TW. Sorry you had to deal with that.
I feel kinda crappy, but nothing major. I think it was mostly hunger.
Of course, during my final hour of waiting, a trashy mom and daughter sat right next to me in the very back corner of the waiting room. They kept complaining about being there and saying "that bitch better hurry up" and talking about how hungry/tired they were.
Now when I'm home DH keeps asking me if I'm okay because I'm acting annoyed and rude. Yes dude... that wasn't a lot of fun. Now leave me alone so I can nap.

@jena333-2 It's like some sort of cruel pregnant lady joke that the pregnant lady isn't in on. You're starving all the time, even when you feel nauseated, and they're like "so just go ahead and fast overnight, we'll take some blood, you'll drink this potently sugary drink, we'll take more and more blood, and then it's over." But all I hear is "you never get to eat again."

So the cutoff for my office is 140. Guess who got 140 and gets to take the 3 hour test. That's right, this girl. I am so pissed! The same shit happened with my other daughter and I passed with flying colors. So I'm confident I will do the same again. But I felt so awful last time I was tramatized and am just being a big bitchy baby about it. Ok end rant. Ugh. Not sure when I'm taking it yet, I'll keep everyone posted.

I just called the office. A doctor hasn't reviewed the results yet, but the office lady did tell me I failed two of the numbers.

Fasting: 78
1 hour: 184
2 hour: 167
3 hour: 67

The doctor is supposed to call me tomorrow and tell me what I'm supposed to do. $:\$

(ETA: that 3 hour draw number seems "off" so I'm wondering if I wrote it down wrong. Will verify tomorrow)

UO - I'm going to go for my one hour on Saturday. DH is taking DS somewhere and I get to sit somewhere and read my book for an hour. I don't have to fast. I'm almost looking forward to it.

I'm taking the three hour tomorrow. My office's cutoff is 130, and my level after the 1hr was 151. So I have to start fasting from midnight tonight is what my nurse told me. Not looking forward to this at all.
