At work I've got a box full of the little silica packets. They come in equipment we sell and I feel like there's gotta be a use for them so I save them instead of tossing them. I swear I'm not a hoarder!
Lol @dogperson11 I always feel guilty throwing away that kind of stuff, wondering if there's a reason for them, but I do it anyway.
After my glucose test yesterday, I went a little crazy with the carbs and sugar, and so far today I've had one donut and am planning on eating another soon, all in preparation for maybe being told I have GD and have to severely reduce carb intake.
FFFC: I judge my parents so much for making poor dietary choices. Both of them have serious medical conditions directly tied to eating crap constantly, and a lot of their symptoms would be minimized and some of the conditions "cured" if they merely started eating vegetables and non-processed foods and drank water instead of diet soda. Sometimes I even hate them for this (i.e., they are trying to die or at least not trying hard enough to live).
But food for thought if you would like to keep read on: I recently read about how childhood trauma has a long term effect on adulthood health (even half a century later) and reduces average lifespans by up to 20 years. This all comes from a study started in the 1990s with Kaiser Permanente, and the study actually started because they had a weight loss program that was incredibly successful in the short term (think losing 300 lbs in 12 months) but failing long term (gaining back all the weight in just weeks or months). My parents definitely grew up in households where there was a lot of yelling, alcohol abuse, and possibly even other forms of abuse and neglect. So, despite years of hating my parents for their "poor choices", I wonder if it is all inter-related.
i am seriously considering telling the US tech today that we are having a girl when she asks. just to see her reaction/how she handles it when they find the penis. i understand this clearly means i have no life. i prob wont do it though bc i dont know their sense of humor.

@aprilsarahjune I can relate with a close friend of ours. He has some health issues (nothing super serious, but aches and pains, bad knees, general blah-ness that he'll complain about) and I believe part of it is directly tied to his diet. If he cut back on the soda, chips, and snacks I believe that he'd feel better overall. Part of the issue is that he wants to exercise, and he'll start, but then he'll stop because it hurts too much. If you eat like crap, you'll feel like crap. Simple as that.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@aprilsarahjune dh and I have the same conversations about our parents. We were raised on processed foods and it has set us up for failure as adults. He was overweight until his senior year of HS (then got heavier again after he graduated) and I was heavier than I should have been in MS because our parents bought nothing but crap food and soda. And that's all they still continue to eat, but then they complain about how they don't feel good or they go to the doctor for something caused by their eating habits. Yet a Dr won't ever tell them they need to change what they eat. It's infuriating. I want to tell at my dad to stop drinking diet Pepsi and eating turkey lunchmeat and little Debbie snacks for lunch and then ice cream after dinner every single day and maybe his stomach wouldn't bother him. He even went as far as to have his gallbladder out and guess what? Didn't fix anything. Ugh.
Don't get me wrong, we don't not have junk food and processed stuff in our house, but we keep it to small amounts. And DH and the kids don't drink pop and we very seldom let them have juice. There's too much proof on how processed foods negatively affect you
Totally contradicting my rant above, I've been giving my kids ice cream sandwiches before lunch the past 3 days as birbery with the 3yo. She has been throwing massive tantrums over chnaging out of her pjs and even more over having to wear shorts and t-shirts (as opposed to long pants and long sleeve shirts). So when she asks for one at like 10am, I say "ok but you have to get dressed first". Works every time. Naturally I have to let the other two have one also. No shame. None.
@sjohns908 it's ok. I've been telling DD everyday she can have ice cream if she doesn't cry during her swim lessons. Bribery works wonders (all FTMs make note). When she was walking away with her insctructor yesterday I heard her tell him something about ice cream haha
speaking of him...
my FFFC is my daughter's swim instructor is super hot...in that swimmers bod, way too tan, California surfer dude, probably not so smart, 10 years younger than me, way. I really don't mind taking her everyday. And I'm a little bummed he told me yesterday DD can move up to the next swim level with a different instructor after next week. Boo.
@migdala I do that for everything! If I know I have to leave the house, I will figure out how to plan washing my hair around it lol. I have a Dr appointment on Tuesday, I will wash my hair today, Sunday and Tuesday
Eta: actually, appointment isn't until following Tuesday, but you get my point lol
FFFC: I've rearranged my hair washing schedule specifically to account for HDBD. So vain on Wednesdays and so gross every other day of the week.
I don't do this, but I do pay particular attention to my outfit on HDBD. I also try not to wear the same thing as I've worn in previous weekly photos (unless I'm doing a pic in my leggings/comfy clothes).

@carries2018 For me it's just pure laziness. I prob need to lift weights or something since drying my hair legit tires me out. But again, I'm lazy, so instead I just cut it down to 2x a week. And I bring a stool into the bathroom so I can sit down while I do it.
Another FFFC: I went to Whole Foods before work this morning and got bacon and a slice of key lime pie. I'm feeling good about this day.
@carries2018 Same here. I tried to go every other day for a while but my hair felt gross. It's pretty fine and thin and just looks bad when unwashed. I've been meaning to try again and get a good dry shampoo. Maybe adding this to my #futuregoals list along with budgeting.
@carries2018 I have to shower every day, there's no way I can't without feeling gross. I dont understand not doing it either. I usually wash my hair every day when not pregnant, but it takes too much energy now lol. So I have switched to every other day and I won't go longer than that. Once this kid is out, I'll be back to every day because it helps with my mood and keeping my depression under control when I feel clean and better about myself. I'm the same with makeup. I never go a day without wearing makeup, even if I'm not leaving the house
I wash my hair 2x a week, and I have super fine hair that is very prone to oiliness. Guise, DRY SHAMPOO. It. Is. A. Miracle. I use Dove. Seriously life changing.
eta: it also makes my hair thicker and hold a curl better. I like my hair way more on days 2 and 3 than Day 1
ill join you in that goal @riverrainez i have the same hair type and it just gets gross. also i cannot make it through the day without putting it up at some point. so it gets all crinkly and messy when i take it down. i ain't trying to straighten it every morning to fix it, id rather just wet it and start fresh. (i dont blow dry my hair every morning only when i am going out bc it looks fine enough to last me until noon when i decide i am sick of it and i put it up).
I also have short hair now (just chopped!) and it's naturally curlyish so it takes like two seconds to wash and I can let it air dry and do its thing. If I had to blow dry and style I would probably let it go longer!

This describes me perfectly. DH always teases me for sitting down when I'm doing my hair/makeup.
October 2017 June Siggy Challenge -- "You Had One Job!"
@carries2018 I wash my hair and shower every day too. I know its bad for your hair/skin but if I don't i end up looking like a grease ball... and dry shampoo just doesn't do it for me. I don't get people that don't either.. and I am certainly NOT one of those girls who looks cute when they wake up lol
I've actually done that both days in the hospital after my last two kids were born. I got up, showered and forced myself to blow dry and straighten my hair and put on makeup both mornings. I had to use a stool because standing was too much, but I felt SO much better being clean and feeling put together
I feel like a one of those vegan, gluten free Crossfitters who want to convert everyone, except with dry shampoo. I just want to pour it on all of you so you can experience its joy.
eta: no offense meant to vegans, crossfitters or those leading a gluten free lifestyle. I have been each of the above at some point (though never simultaneously)
+1 for team shower and shampoo everyday. I've tried dry shampoo but I still feel gross. My hairstylists always mention how healthy my hair is so I'm not gonna sweat it. I do also wear it up most days unless I have a reason to look cute haha SAHM Lyfe.
@bluejeanbabi05 That's what I was worried about. My hair is reeeeeeally dark brown/black. Maybe I'll find a small bottle to give it a try and see what happens.
Funny story: I was on the elevator a couple years ago and some random guy I'd never met told me I smelled really amazing (which is kind of a weird thing to say) I smiled and said thanks, even though I don't wear perfume or lotion and what he smelled was the dry shampoo in my three day unwashed hair.
I hate showers and washing my hair. Pretty much all my life. I only gave in during my sports years in childhood because I sweat so much every day. But I started skipping days in college and now I don't wash my hair but like twice a week. I'll hide it in a bun when I shower my body.
I get greasy/oily if I shampoo and condition my fine straight hair. I switched to dove 2-1 shampoo and conditioner and now it's awesomeeeeee. I struggle a little more to brush my hair out of the shower because it's not as silky, but when it dries it's much more manageable and stays clean looking all week. Life changing.
+1 to needing to shower everyday. I have really curly hair, and after sleeping on it I have a lovely combination of smushed curls and frizz. I'll wear my hair up in a ponytail if I don't shower, but otherwise it gets washed every day.
See @carries2018 I can't stand having my hair up because it gives me a headache! BUT when I do to workout or whatever, a quick wave of the blow dryer or a couple strategic curls that I then brush out do the trick.
@pizzamonster3 I'll have to try that shampoo! I change my shampoo every six months or so because my hair gets used to it and starts looking oily even right after I wash it.
Seriously if I wash my hair at night, when I wake up in the morning it's already oily. Maybe that's why I had to discover dry shampoo, it was just unmanageable before lol.
@bluejeanbabi05 exactly that - my hair is oily and limp one hour after washing if I do shampoo and conditioner or wash it every day.
Ive used it for about three months now. After a few weeks I was getting a chunky feeling, not really oily but like I had product residue in it. It actually helped me style because it gave me volume without looking nasty, but since it felt weird to me I started adding an extra scalp-only mini shampoo before I'd do the 2-1 every other week. It helps manage that product feeling without reverting to full oily and still gives me long lasting volume. It's magic.
Annnnnnnd I can't wash my hair at night. I hate it. I will still feel gross in the morning. Must shower in the morning or else day is ruined before it even begins.
ZOMG HOW DO YOU LIVE LIKE THAT?! I NEED TO PUT MY HAIR UP EVERY NIGHT OR ELSE IT WILL ATTACK ME IN MY SLEEP!
What??? How do you sleep with your hair up?? It must be right on top of your head right or there'd be a hard lump when you lie down. I would have such a horrible headache in the morning if I tried that ish, I think my scalp is just way too sensitive and it hates hairties.
Plus having my hair up breaks my hair, and I end up with super attractive little frizzies around my face. Not cute.
I can't wash my hair at night either. Laying on it all night brings out the grease big time. Giant waste of energy. I wash only in the mornings. Or afternoons, like today
FFFC: One of the reasons I pushed so hard to move back to Colorado was because my hair doesn't get greasy here. It was a constant battle in NYC. I need this arid climate or else I have to wash every other day and I don't have the energy for that. Reason #43247892374923 Colorado is the best state
