Weekly Ticker Change 6/5

We needed to get this started for this week :)

This thread is for updating everyone on the day you change to a new week. For example, If your ticker changes on Tuesday, you can answer the bold questions on Tuesday. (If you forget, just post of whatever day you remember.) Everyone, feel free to comment and make conversation with those not in your daily ticker change!

When is your ticker change day?

How far along are you?

How big is your baby (babies)?

Team Pink/Blue/Green (if you know)?

Any upcoming appointments this week?

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?

Rants/Raves/Questions?

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
How do you clean up after sexy time and prevent your sheets from getting messed up? Just lay a towel down and that's it? Toilet paper? Baby wipes? A really fast awkward waddle to the bathroom?

Rants/Raves/Questions?  Sitting hurts.  Standing hurts.  Laying down is ok until I move, then that hurts, too.  I don't know how I'm going to deal with the tailbone pain for 13 more weeks!!  Sorry for such a whiny update this week.

  • *skip*  I mean, A boy, 26 +1, no appointments just waiting for a phone call about how much my iron dropped.

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
How do you clean up after sexy time and prevent your sheets from getting messed up? Just lay a towel down and that's it? Toilet paper? Baby wipes? A really fast awkward waddle to the bathroom?

Prevent isn't really in our dictionary ( it will be after this baby )  buutttt we go through sheets quite often when we are in the same country. No shame, we keep baby wipes for quick clean ups and continue on until the very end then new sheets. I've only heard about the towel during shark week ( because I'm mature I call it that ) and I do not do shark week sex.

    How far along are you?
    27+2

How big is your baby (babies)? According to Friday's ultrasound, 2lbs 5oz and 2lbs 4oz. Annnnd maybe heads of lettuce.

    Team Pink/Blue/Green (if you know)?
    pink x 2

Any upcoming appointments this week? I had my glucose test this morning. Got the fruit punch. Went ok. OB has already told me I'll most likely fail since twins up my chances. I'm obviously hoping she's wrong and I passed so i don't have to take the 3hr. My reflux has been under control since I've started my rx, but I've had it all day today since the test this am. Yuck. I also have my rhogam shot scheduled for friday.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? I'm measured 33weeks last time and my belly feels really heavy. I never used a support belt before, but I think one might be helpful this time....

Rants/Raves/Questions?  ....so does anyone have a recommendation on a good/comfortable support belt? There are quite a few out there, so not sure how to choose!

How big is your baby (babies)?

    Team Pink/Blue/Green (if you know)?
    Team Blue

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
I've got one in about two hours and then I'm doing the 3 hour glucose test next Monday. I failed the 1 hour at my early test and had to take the 3 so my OB is just having me repeat that one.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
Shortness of breath! Oh man, I can't even talk to people without getting winded. Yesterday anyhow.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
My FIL is in town. We thought Monday through Friday but he's thinking of staying a bit longer to help my BIL with moving. Neither of them live here - BIL went to college here and then move back for like 3 months last year but still has stuff in storage. I'm happy to see my FIL... Not happy to see my BIL. But my actual mini rant is the timing sucks because it's my stepson's last week in town before going to visit his mom for the summer and we're going to get no time just the three of us. At least we'll have a few weeks when he gets home before LO arrived.

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
How do you clean up after sexy time and prevent your sheets from getting messed up? Just lay a towel down and that's it? Toilet paper? Baby wipes? A really fast awkward waddle to the bathroom?
I really would answer this but I don't know that I have an answer... Nothing? It depends? I've never used baby wipes so I at least have a no answer...
  • When is your ticker change day? Wed

    How far along are you?
    24 weeks

How big is your baby (babies)? Atlantic Puffin

    Team Pink/Blue/Green (if you know)?
    Pink (likely baby Beatrice)

Any upcoming appointments this week? Friday, Glucose 1 hour, dr visit, and vet visit for my dog.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Not impressed with this morning gagging and then puking thing. Still heartburn and still sensitive to a lot of food.

    Rants/Raves

    Questions?
    1. How long is your drive to the hospital/delivery space? Any plans in place to make the ride smooth and easy?
    2. Anyone doing a planned delivery due to the distance of the hospital/delivery space?
    3. As you have been setting up the nursery anything that you decided was a must have or that you thought was a must have and now you don't think you need. (my example is a wipe warmer...we don't have any room for one so even though I thought it was a must we likely won't have one. I also thought we would do a side car sleeper next to the bed in our bedroom but now considering just using a rock and play possibly).
    4. Anyone with PCOS gotten advice about its impact on breast feeding?

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
    Go to the bathroom...avoid uti's. :)

Also, Beatrice is a great name.

Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope!

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Nothing new really, movement has become much more often.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  We got DS's room painted and finishing the painting in the nursery. Anyone with multiple children have experience leaving the hospital less than 48 hours after delivery? With DS we stayed 48 hours after delivery, now that I'm not a new mom and have a 2 year old, I'd much rather be out and with him, provided that baby is stable without any complications.

bridge-and-wall Thanks for the info and I look forward to any follow up if you find out more. I asked my dr about it and she said it wasn't something she knew about. :(

Edit: Thanks about the name...my husband gave like 5 suggestions (4 were awful and the 5th was Beatrice which I can get on board with) after vetoing my list of like 50 names I had collected over the years. <3

  • @BecauseLove I have PCOS. My doctor doesn't expect it to impact breastfeeding.
  • @BecauseLove
    1. How long is your drive to the hospital/delivery space? Any plans in place to make the ride smooth and easy?
About ten minutes. Last time I drove myself as I was in disbelief that I was actually in labor. Hopefully this time my husband will take the wheel.
    2. Anyone doing a planned delivery due to the distance of the hospital/delivery space?
    Not necessary
We are limiting what is going to be in baby's nursery as she will be sharing a room with first my husband and I and later her big brother. Literally all we will have in our room is a changing table w/ shelves for diapers and clothes and a  small sidecar crib. In her brother's room is the larger crib that she will transition into. Items like a playmat or bouncer will be in our front room, and rather than purchasing a separate rocker or glider we are upgrading one of our arm chairs to a rocking recliner.

    4. Anyone with PCOS gotten advice about its impact on breast feeding? NA

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
I had my endo today, and I have OB on Friday

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
I had heartburn really bad last night. Kept me up for quite a few hours and I was reclining myself to try to help it.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  All I can think about is that Father's Day, my MIL's birthday, and FIL's birthday are all within 1 month of each other and we have to buy them gifts AND take them out to eat and pay. I hate this time of year. I hate that's expected of us.

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
How do you clean up after sexy time and prevent your sheets from getting messed up?
DH lovingly shoves a wad of toilet paper between my legs and then I have to waddle to the bathroom! Haha. A good friend actually uses a butt plug to 1) keep the sperm in to get KU, and 2) prevent it from leaking out and making a mess. Mostly 2, but jokingly 1! It made me laugh when she confessed that. Nobody have anything as crazy??

    1. How long is your drive to the hospital/delivery space? Any plans in place to make the ride smooth and easy? - It's about a 20 minute drive to the hospital. Haven't thought about other plans!

    2. Anyone doing a planned delivery due to the distance of the hospital/delivery space? - I will be induced for medical reasons.

    3. As you have been setting up the nursery anything that you decided was a must have or that you thought was a must have and now you don't think you need. - I have thought differently about diaper pail options, but definitely not wasting my time on a wipe warmer. That child will have cold wipes at restaurants, in the car, at grandma's..
We are planning on keeping a mini fridge either in the nursery or our bedroom for middle of the night feeds (DH's idea! Yes please!)

  • @Sugargirl1019 I feel your pain on the Father's Day combined with multiple birthdays. In my family between the beginning of May and beginning of July we have Mother's Day, four birthdays, Father's Day, and our anniversary (which is actually on my dad's birthday). This year we decided to throw in my shower with all of it! We usually combine a few celebrations - my sister's birthday with Father's Day and my nephew's birthday with my dad's birthday, but it's still a lot! I'm the baker in the family and have to make all the cakes/desserts - it gets exhausting! And yes I feel like I'm buying a gift for someone every week!

had a non-pregnancy related appointment this week to look into managing my asthma. While listening to my heart and lungs, doctor had a slight concern, so I will be back on the 19th for cardio related testing. Fingers crossed that what he is hearing is a pregnancy related complication and nothing serious.

    None this week

GTKY: After Dark question uh oh!!
How do you clean up after sexy time and prevent your sheets from getting messed up?
Boxers and waddle to the bathroom

@MrsVP614Question: For those who have done them, how necessary are the hospital classes? We plan to do the hospital tour and a breastfeeding class, but our schedules are not lining up with the labor/delivery and baby care classes and it's making me anxious.

For me, the labor and delivery classes and baby care classes were extremely helpful. My goal was to have a non-medicated labor, and I knew I would need the support and expertise of an instructor to help me accomplish that goal. I loved my instructor, and we made friends in that class with another set of parents who continue to be our close friends to this day.
Prior to my son's birth I had 0 experience with babies -- no younger siblings/cousins, babysitting, nada. My family also lives 6+ hours away, so I often felt alone and unsure of what to do with my newborn. The babycare classes which were taught by a lactation consultant through my hospital, made me feel much more confident in taking care of my son and also allowed me to create meaningful relationships with other moms. That being said, if you have a strong support group already and have prior experience with babies, perhaps it wouldn't be as necessary. And, I'm all for avoiding unnecessary anxiety if it is difficult to arrange your schedule to make a  labor or babycare class.

I second that vote! Also I would definitely accept pictures and memes, because it was SO HARD to find a gif that somewhat depicted the glucose test.. I almost gave up and used a picture

My parents bought a house less than a mile from mine. They close Monday and then my mom starts moving in. My dad is coming later after he retires in March. It's a little scary for me. The closest I've lived to them as an adult is 200 miles. This is going to be a big adjustment.
