Re: weekly chat - June 4

  • Sorry I have been MIA the last few days - things have just been so busy

What are you looking forward to this week? The kids are out so summer is here!

What are you dreading? I still have meetings and work to do this week :/ Hurry up Friday!!

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I just want to get these meetings out of the way so I can start to enjoy my summer.

Random thoughts? Still no word on supplements for next year. I am hoping that now that the students are out they can begin to focus on all that. I really want to cement my timeline.

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again? Baggy, wide leg jeans

  • What are you looking forward to this week? This is actually going to be (I hope) a fun week! Friday we're heading to a minor league baseball game with DS. He loves baseball and enjoys the games. Then Saturday DH and I have a babysitter and we're going on a date afternoon/night. He planned for us to go to a museum, made dinner reservations and we're seeing "Singin' in the Rain". It's our first date night since DS was born and he's 2. :)

What are you dreading? Not much. It's going to rain a lot.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I plan on cleaning a lot and hopefully trimming bushes/finishing some landscaping. I'd like to get my summer todos done early so I can enjoy the second half of the summer before school starts again.

    Random thoughts? Nope

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again? This is probably an UO but I don't like rompers. I don't like them for DS, women, and good gracious, whose genius idea was it to make them for men! Some women look adorable in them but overall, NMS.

  • @glitzandglitter I hope you week flies by!!

What are you looking forward to this week?
The last bit of construction to be done in our basement. Going to the pool with DS. Meeting some mom friends Saturday for rummage sales and lunch kid free.

    What are you dreading?
The painting left to do after the construction is done.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
Get caught up on laundry that has gotten so far behind I can't breathe. I think this was my goal last week too :/ oh well piece by piece right.

    Random thoughts?
You'd think as a SAHM Monday's wouldn't be that much different than any other weekday. However, Monday's are such a crazy day for me every week. I feel like I run all morning.

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again?
    W
earing pants so low and baggy that you see the boxers. Unfortunately I think this is still being done. Not sure that was every truly a fashion trend but it was big in my late teen years.

  • What are you looking forward to this week? Going to Santa Barbara next weekend! Off on Friday! Yay 4 day work week!

What are you dreading? I guess nothing!

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? More walking with the pup. I did a measley 3.5 miles all last week (darn you early work days!).

Random thoughts? Just very excited for our beach mini vacay. I wonder what the pup will think of the sand/beach! Should we get him a lifevest in case he goes out into the water? Is that crazy?

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again? OVERALLS. WTF IS WITH THIS 90S THROWBACK FASHION RECENTLY. NO. STAHP.
  • What are you looking forward to this week? a lighter workload this week. Sooo happy to hear this. I actually had last weekend off.

What are you dreading? Nothing really.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Just try to stay focused and be productive. Need to finalize the dates for our august lake vacation and make arrangements for our cats.

Random thoughts? I'm irrationally happy it's summer.

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again? I'm with @kindbytealikat - the baggy pants/showing your underwear trends HAVE to stop. It wasn't attractive 20 years ago and it's still not. Those rompers, though.  :p

  • @glitzandglitter - yay for wrapping up the school year! Hope you hear about supplements soon.
@JNCPro3130 - date night!! how fun. :) do you have a lot of landscaping to do, or are you just hoping to freshen up what you have?
@kindbytealikat - hope the basement is finished soon and your painting goes quickly.
@JennyColada - How big is the doggie? I see a lot of them out on the lake for smaller dogs. Does he swim a lot, or no? Really, I see them more as a precaution in case some jerk with a speedboat goes flying by and poor puppy is in the water, getting caught in the wake. he wouldn't have to fight so hard to ride it out.

  • @catlady2015 he's small-ish (23 pounds, short hair, dach mix). We've never taken him into water that swim-able, and we're going to the beach so I'm mostly worried that a big wave will come and swish him around. I'm probably totally overthinking about it (I'm a worrier!) though, but may just pick one up to have it. Even if we don't use it this time it's good to have on-hand I think.
  • @jennycolada - we talked about taking our cats out to the lake for the fun of it. they'd definitely need life vests. One of them actually really loves water and I can see her just swimming away. :)

  • @catlady2015 haha yea he LOVES puddles and small creeks. We took him to the dog park after it rained and he immediately jumped in the muddy water. So I have a similar fear that he'll have tons of fun running around in the water until a wave bigger than he is comes and washes him away. Having a life vest would help (and we'd probably use our 20 foot teather on the beach as well).
  • @glitzandglitter That's really strange that they still haven't finalized the supplements. Hopefully it'll be done soon!

@JNCPro3130 I don't like rompers, either! I think they're awful and don't understand how they became a trend.

@kindbytealikat That pic is very bizarre O.O I'm also not a fan of wearing your pants so low that people can see your underwear.

@JennyColada Enjoy your vacation! And agreed on the overalls/90s fashion!

@catlady2015 Yay for having a lighter workload!

What are you looking forward to this week? I'm hoping to hear from HR. I got a call from them last week with a position, but it's PT, which I can't take (there's no guarantee for hours with PT, and there's also no insurance, so I'd lose it, which is not an option with my medical stuff going on). Beyond that, not much.

What are you dreading? I honestly can't think of anything.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I want to finish cleaning the house. It didn't really happen last week. I also got a puzzle with a gift card someone gave me for my birthday, so I want to get started on that.

Random thoughts? I'm exhausted. I want to take a nap.

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again? Most, if not all, of the 90s fashion. Just... Bleh.

  • Looking forward to: The youngest baby in our friends group turns one this week!! His party isn't until Sunday (not sure if that counts as this week or next haha) but his birthday is either tomorrow or Wednesday I think.

Dreading: My mom is moving from here (Missouri) to Arizona on Wednesday  :'( I hate that she's going to be so far away!! But at the same time, it's what she wants, and she'll be happier there than here.

Goals: Set up a Mystery Hostess event for the business I'm an Independent Consultant for. This has been on my to do list for a month...

    Random: None

GTKY: I agree with the saggy pants!

  • @glitzandglitter You're almost there.
@JNCPro3130 It's raining a lot here and it sucks.
@kindbytealikat WTH are those male rompers  They can't be real?
@JennyColada Yay for beach vacation, mini or not enjoy!
    @catlady2015 Lake vacation sounds lovely.
@dreamscapes_ Sorry they only offered a PT position, hope they come back with something better.
@CecilB93 I'm sorry your mom is moving, but AZ is so nice hope you get to visit often.

Don't know if I just missed her, but is @easttxmamas around? How is your cycle going? Have you had your transfer yet? Sorry, I can't remember what your timing was. I'm thinking about you.

Not really much going on with me, at least not worth chatting about. If that changes I'll be back. Just busy but I'm around.

  • @glitzandglitter So exciting to get to enjoy summer!  Almost there!
@JNCPro3130 Yay for finally having a date night!  We have had I think one since Rose was born 16 months ago?  So I feel you on that!  Have a blast!
@kindbytealikat BWHAHAHAHA wow those rompers are crazy!
@JennyColada I adore Santa Barbara!  Have so much fun!
@catlady2015 Lake vacation sounds amazing!  Do you like to kayak or canoe?  Lake canoeing or kayaking is so great, since you don't have to worry about waves and can just relax.
@dreamscapes_ Ugh, sorry about the PT offer, hope you can find something full time w health insurance soon!
@CecilB93 We have a 1 year old bday party this weekend too!  And a 4 year old bday!  My entire weekend is kids' birthdays, haha.

What are you looking forward to this week?

The weekend!  We had family in town last week, Thursday through Sunday night, and it was awesome but I feel like I didn't get a spare minute to breathe/think!  We have two kiddo birthday parties this weekend, but we may have to skip one to just have some downtime.

    What are you dreading?
I don't know if I'd say "dreading" but I really need to get strict with dieting again if I want to lose these last 10 pounds or so of baby weight!  I was making progress but then had weekend events every single weekend in May so I fell off the dieting wagon.  I'm back on track now with no wine or sugar June (UGH) and gonna go Whole 30 for the rest of the month starting Monday.

Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week?
I need to start writing my next script and I'm hoping to do all of the character sketches and a rough outline this week.  Also hoping calorie count and lose a pound or two.

    Random thoughts?
After being bummed out for a while about pushing back TTC to December, I'm focusing on the upsides - more time to really get in shape (not just lose weight but get back in good cardio/strength shape), and get another script and my novel done.  Also, I'm hoping to move up another rung in my day job ladder and I think that's much more doable on this timeline.  Plus, Rose is at SUCH a fun age (seriously 15-16 months have been my fave ages so far) so I get more time to just focus on her.  And so glad to have this board in the meantime to help with the baby fever. :)

GTKY: What is one fashion trend you hope will never be popular again?
The current one with the shoulder cut outs!  I HATE IT.  I feel like it's so unflattering and such an awkward shape.  I can't wait for it to go away. I also look terrible in hippie/bohemian pastels and that seems to be big this year too. Boo.
  • @maureenmce I feel you on the falling off the wagon. I was telling DH last night I started to slip off the wagon and then I completely crashed and burned it!!! Back on today and it's going good so far. Denying my sweet tooth won't be easy

Hi @notthefather !  Missed you!  I'm in a (kind of) similar situation - I stepped away for a couple of weeks because we decided to push TTC all the way back to December and I was having a hard time with it, but I'm back and enjoying hanging out here.  Hopefully you'll feel the same.  Hugs!

@kindbytealikat Yes!  Staying away from sugar is so hard once you fall off the wagon.  I hadn't had it in a long time and then last week I was stressed/in a bad mood and started eating mini Snickers like it was my job and now it's tough to go without!
  • Yay, excited to see some more familiar faces back here!

  • @notthefather - we missed you! Stress around everything baby related is hard enough. Glad you took a bump break when you needed it, though.

  • @CecilB93 If you don't mind my asking, which business do you sell for? I hope your mom's move goes smoothly!

@LivingTheDream Something will pop up, it's just a matter of when.

@maureenmce I COULD take the PT, because I could get on DH's insurance, but it would quadruple our premium, which we can't afford right now. I absolutely agree with you on the stupid cold shoulder stuff! That's on, like, a third of the products at one of my favorite stores, and I absolutely loathe it. Good luck with your goal!

@notthefather I missed your face! I'm sorry that you're having a hard time with the open-ended bit. I hope things get easier for you.

  • @maureenmce - it might be nice to try kayaking, but I haven't yet. We have a classic wooden boat we take out on the lake in the summers. It's been so much fun.

  • @maureenmce My son is 15 months old! It's definitely a fun age, but we're having issues too. He's climbing out of his crib, hitting and biting us (thankfully no reports from daycare though!), makes sure we're watching him do things he shouldn't, throwing tantrums...and a sleep regression on top of all that. Ugh. But, he's learning SO MUCH at this age and it's so fun to watch!!

@notthefather welcome back! Sorry things are tough at the moment :/

@dreamscapes_ I'm an Usborne Books and More consultant. I just started at the end of April, and May was a sucky sales month all around because of school ending, so I haven't been off to a good start :/ But I'm hoping a Mystery Hostess Party will get some interest going!

    I missed you ladies.

  • @ChloandCoco I'm so sorry, so many hugs and prayers your way!!!

@dreamscapes_ I love Usborne books, I have a number of them and can't wait to get some of the science ones as DS gets older

@catlady2015 I love kayaking so fun and relaxing and and I think it's so much easier than canoeing. I was nervous to try but not it's my preferred floating option.
