@Tourmalily omg I'm so sorry that happened!! I'm glad you and baby are ok but that sounds awful! I truly hope you feel better quickly, that seems so so scary.
@Tourmalily that is so scary I'm so glad you're okay and you're blessed to have no permanent damage. It's so scary how quickly things can happen. Glad you got to see baby and that made things a bit better.
@Tourmalily Glad you and LO are safe. Hoping your recovery goes smoothly.
We moved out of our apartment 2 weeks ago and move later this week. We've been in a hotel so our dogs are at a pet sitter and she just messaged me that my Sheltie is almost out of food which is crazy. I sent here there with one opened bag with just a bit left and a whole unopened 4.5lb bag. She says there's about 2 meals left but there's no way she should have gone through that much food in 2 weeks. Our Sheltie was already a bit over weight so I hope she hasn't been feeding her too much. Now I have to go buy a 4lb bag of food just to probably have to throw it away when we move/fly next weekend because I don't think you can bring dog food through airport customs since it is a meat product. Good news is that it gives us an excuse to stop by and see the pups.
Got FD back from a 9 hour visit with her biomom today. I'm . So. Upset. She didn't nap. She came home in clothes I didn't send her in or with (i sent 3 extra outfits) . Reeked of cigarettes. Her bottle of milk that was for naptime (which is at 1) was left untouched. She was in different shoes (that seem to be from the dollar store) and the shoes she was sent in were not sent back. She has a sunburn when I put sunscreen on her AND sent her with 2 types of sunscreen. She wasn't bathed even though we asked her to bathe her since she would be getting home after bedtime. She has a diaper rash that she did not leave this house with this morning. Her face and hair was matted with dried snot and food. I'm devastated because even if we tell children's aid NONE of those are valid reasons to not put her back in the care of her mother and our transition will continue. I gave her a bath while she slept on my lap because I couldn't stand putting her to bed like that, she looked like a disaster. I'm so sad for her and the future in store for this wonderful child.
@bcashaw I would have taken pictures and written everything down and let children's aid know. At least if she gets pulled from her mother's care again you have proof that she shouldn't have gone back in the first place. Definitely why I could never foster. I would end up running away with my foster kids so I don't have to send them back to a crappy home.
@amber0529 I've taken photos and written about it in the communication book which is supposed to be my only form of communication with the mother and the worker. So if they read it then they know and if not then later I can show them that it was written. I'm feeling so guilty even though DH keeps reminding me that it's not my fault. She's not sleeping next to me because she was screaming. I think her sunburn hurts because her skin is on fire.
@bcashaw I can't imagine how difficult that must be. I think I've mentioned before I hope to foster when my youngest is in high school and I think what you just described will be the hardest and most heartbreaking part of it.
@Tourmalily I'm glad you're ok (or will be in the long run). Recovery sounds so tough. Hugs.
@bcashaw You are an incredibly strong person for fostering and doing everything you can for that child. Hopefully all the documentation will add up to something good. If not, you've done everything you can.
Thanks everyone for the kind words, they are appreciated
I'm doing much better today - it looks a lot worse than it actually is and I have no pain. The itchy part of recovery has started already on some of the burns on my chest so this is gonna be Fun

@BayCamp that is an awful bite! I'm glad you quit!
@slaven stinks about the food, but glad you get to visit them!
@am+mommy you can send that weather here if you'd like!! It's either been cold or rainy or cold and rainy! I want summer!
@Tourmalily that sounds awful! I'm glad you and LO are okay, but It sounds like you'll have a long road ahead. I hope it goes smoothly for you!
@bcashaw my heart breaks for you and your FD. Clearly her bio-mom is still not ready to be a mom. I can't imagine how hard it is for you. I hope child services realizes that she shouldn't go there.
@Tourmalily so glad you are ok! That is so scary. And you can definitely go out in the sun just use hats and make sure to have good sunscreen. I had to keep my face out of the sun one year when I got a gnarly dog bite and they didn't want me scarring too bad. There's also mederma for when it's mostly healed. Really lessens scars quickly.
@bcashaw you are so strong. It's so so hard seeing kids you care about in a situation like that. I really truly hope her mom learns how to shape up and be a parent.
This morning DD2 woke up at 6:30... DH got up at 6:00 to go the bathroom and woke me up when he came back by saying good morning and giving me a kiss then went back to sleep and I couldn't. I could've slept an extra half hour! He didn't get up until after 7!
I thought we were going to have a good day. Took the kids to the pool, it started thundering 45 minutes later, so we went back home. Storm continued. Blew over our patio table, shattering the glass into fresh mulch and the grass. Broke some of my other garden decor items. Boo.
My husband leaves for deployment pretty soon + not only misses out on such a great age with our son but most of the pregnancy + all of summer + then some.
I'm over here throwing a damn pity party because everyone decides to come visit right when time is really supposed to be about the three of us and the big changes coming ahead. The last thing I want to do is deal with extended family right now + cater to them.
@mamaticali Sorry about everything your dealing with. My DH missed a couple months of my last pregnancy due to training then was deployed to Korea most of last year and missed so many milestones for DD2. Like crawling, first birthday, walking, words... just so much. So I know how hard it is. I would be losing my shit if we had a bunch of visitors before that time too. Pity party away- your allowed. We're all here to support you!
@kschref@tourmalily Scary stuff! Glad everyone is okay. @mamaticali Sharing limited time stinks, so I hope you are able to make the best of it and that it goes quickly. @bcashaw
AFM, I chipped a chunk of the corner of my veneer off during a crazy pregnancy dream last week and just noticed it last night while flossing. I hope they replace it for free.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@Tourmalily I am sending healing thoughts your way. I am so happy that it will heal and that lo is strong and healthy. The sun's bad for everyone anyway, you aren't missing out on much. Just so happy it didn't end up in your eyes or is going to cause long term damage!
@am+mommy YES! He missed out on a lot of first with his last deployment too! This just adds to it! On top of missing the scans + all. The fact that family is coming is great because it's a great opportunity since we're still close and we usually have some good times. It just sucks that it's RIGHT before he leaves. And they know how i feel about it + they are all still coming anyways. Suckers.
@NYTino24 thank you love. I'm doing my best + trying to make sure we have some good times in the next few weeks during the week.. -- I think they do replace for free or fix at a small charge by the way! let us know how it goes!!!
@Tourmalily I am so glad you guys are okay! @bcashaw I am crying for and with you guys. That is so horrible - I have a friend who recently helped with the transition of her FS and it was H O R R I B L E. Even with a hint that there was something not right - they still work to rehab mom with child. I wish it were different. I am so, so sorry.
@kschref When my dad died, the officer filing the police report left the next day for a two week vacation, without completing it. Way to go the extra mile for a family grieving a suicide, ya know? As an RN, I just flat out can't leave until my paperwork is done. I have a hard time understanding why it's acceptable in other fields (not just police work). I didn't make a fuss or call anybody or anything, but it took that much longer for my mom to get the insurance $ that she needed to pay her mortgage:(
DH and I didn't talk for almost a day. I was so pissed at him. I asked how his Saturday was while I was at work. He told me they did t-ball then a farmer's market and then say Wonder Woman. DD is 5, last time he took her to. Movie it was Gaurdians of the Galaxy 2, I was mad at him them. They are both PG-13, wonder woman has much more violence than I want her to see and she already has bad dreams. He says he wants to share something he likes with her. I said she's 5, there's other things to share than war and violence and other ways to show a strong female roll. He's been her dad for 7 months, I've been mom forever but apparently he doesn't want to let a child be a child and wants to introduce war and real world problems. Makes me so mad. I'll come home and he's watching YouTube with things not appropriate for her, like rap battles and hype about movies too old for her. I swear his excuse is more because he wants to and doesn't want to wait or "sacrifice" his fun. Sorry for the rant. I don't mind my sweet little girl being 5, she'll come across how horrible the world is on her own, just like I did, where boys think it's ok to touch girls because they saw it on tv. He doesn't get it.

omg how scary! So glad you and babe are ok.

Also @Tourmalily that's terrifying! I'm glad that ultimately you're okay. But that's awful.
@BayCamp that is a terrible bite! Your poor baby. Good on you for telling them no more, that is ridiculous behavior.
@bcashaw so sorry you are dealing with that. It's so not fair on FD or you
@Tourmalily I'm glad you're ok (or will be in the long run). Recovery sounds so tough. Hugs.
