This is a weekly check-in for those in their 2nd trimester: weeks 14 through the end of week 27.

Congrats to all the strong ladies who have made it this far! It's such a great feeling and we've all accomplished so much! We are now 1 week closer to the end of this especially long journey we call "infertility."

Please post below a little about yourself, how many beans you have growing inside, if you have found out the sex(es) and what your EDD is. Please also let us know how far you've made it on your journey and when your next appointment is and what for. If I'm missing anyone from this list, or you are new to the 2nd tri, please let me know and I will add you.

Please let us know when you have graduated to 3rd trimester so that I can update our list!

Re: Second Trimester Check-in Week of June 5

  • Hi all! 25+6 today. Gosh, only a lweek and a half I'll be out of here! The second trimester has just FLOWN by! I hear the 3rd drags on...we'll see! Things have been good this last week. No problems! Thank goodness! We finished painting baby boy's nursery last night. Well the walls anyway. My BIL is going to come next weekend to paint the floor boards (trim?) and the new door we need to purchase. My FIL is revamping a dresser that is a family heirloom that will be in the nursery. My husband has promised he's put the crib together this week too. Things are happening around our little house and it's feeling good!

QOTW: I loved our family vacations at the beach. Our whole family and my Aunt/Uncle/Cousins all got together and we had a really fun week in the sun. I hope to do that with my son in the future!

  • Hey all 27 weeks now OMG! This is my last week on 2nd Trimester!? no way :o
Agree @latershrader that 2nd trimester has flown by... crazy.

Eric was home over the weekend and we got a million errands done around the house and now I'm completely wiped. So glad I can just be completely lazy today and recuperate because I definitely overdid it again. Not much going on this week other than hopefully organization and hanging some pictures etc. Next weekend we're having our house warming bbq so want the house to be as close to organized as possible. I find I get tired so easily these days though... definitely don't have my old stamina. Next appointment will be 28 week OB next Wednesday (so just over a week) and then Thursday we leave for Vancouver for our babymoon! Yipee.

QOTW: One of my fav memories as a kid was painting with my dad... still something we do when we get together actually, and I definitely plan to do arts and crafts with my kids. I also loved my trips to the island every summer with my mom, brother, and our family friends. There were 4 families that all coordinated the trip, we all got cabins nearby each other and we kids were all very close in age. No tvs etc, just great memories made for sure. I hope "turning off" in this techy world will still be possible.

  • 16w4d over here! Hoping to feel some movement in the next few weeks. :)

@latershrader We also just had the baby's room painted. And I'm working on turning a dresser into a changing table. It's almost done! I'll post pics here when its completed.

    @oxinfree I can't believe you're headed into the third trimester! That's amazing. : )

AFM, I fiiiinally went maternity clothes shopping and -wow- this sh*t is comfy! Like, my belly can be a belly and not the misshapen mass my regular jeans turn it into. Also have had a few interviews with doulas. I think we'll choose one soon.

QOTW: I was a really outdoorsy kid, so I hope our kid will show similar traits. Lots of great memories in the woods, beach, and mountains.

  • Hi all! 19 weeks here. Now that we know gender I'll start buying stuff and hopefully painting the nursery! Thinking adventure themed (outdoorsy). I did book themed for my daughter but she's getting super outdoorsy so I'd like to draw some new pictures for both of their rooms.

QOTW we grew up hiking and camping, my daughter loves our nature walks so I'm so excited to add baby boy to our adventures. Then Christmas... I decorate way too early and it's 2 months of family recipe cookies and watching White Christmas. My daughter is officially a Christmas nut too so this boy will join right in :)
  • @Polythene Pam - I'm a Christmas nut too! I start organizing etc. mid November. Love it so so much and can't wait to do it with kiddos.

  • Hello all! I am new here @latershrader. I am pregnant with one, I'm 14.5 weeks, and my EDD is 11/30. Won't find out if I'm having a boy or girl until my next u/s on July 19th. I do have a checkup coming up in a couple of weeks though. So excited to finally be in my second trimester! :)

My favorite childhood memory is probably a tie between creating a science fair project with my dad and our family trip to Disney World. Both are really happy memories and I hope to share these things with my child someday.

@LeFemmeViolette I haven't had to buy any maternity clothes just yet (getting by on my loose fitting clothing) but my sister bought me a maternity dress and I cannot wait to wear it. It is so soft and cozy! Got me super excited to buy maternity clothes.

@PolythenePam I am the same way about Christmas! I get so excited to put up the decorations, but my DH hates seeing them up before Thanksgiving, so I usually start sneaking in "winter" decor in mid-November and put up the tree first thing on the day after Thanksgiving.

  • @oxinfree @Jeansis somehow my husband is as big a Christmas nut as me! It used to be a joke, he'd do an annual guys trip first weekend in Nov and I'd sneak up all the decorations while he was gone. Now HE'S the one bringing the trees up on Nov 2! Kids make it extra magical so we want to soak it up as long as we can :) this Halloween due date will probably make us a bit late this year though ;)

@LeFemmeViolette ooh share pictures! I'm doing gray walls, once I paint them I'll start collecting things to piece it together :)
  • Welcome @Jeansis I'll add you to our list!

@oxinfree I can't believe you're out of here next week. I'm so happy for you! See you soon!

@LeFemmeViolette Maternity pants are super comfy but I do find I'm pulling them up more often than not! Need more belly!

@PolythenePam YAAAAASSS! Christmas! Another few years before it really become a magical time for the newest little ones. But i'm super excited to experience it!

  • Hello again! 17-5 with our little one, and cruising right along, just looking forward to our anatomy scan later this month, hopefully this time the kid will show us a little something :)@LaFemmeViolette I've been in maternity clothes for casual clothes for weeks, they're the bestest (and my friend just gave me like five more pairs of pants yesterday, I could've kissed her). For work I've been making due because professional maternity clothes are expensive, but I'll need to cave and get at least a couple dresses soon. I've also gone up almost 4 cup sizes already (not fun when you start at a FF), which has been expensive (and honestly, miserable), and sadly, no one I know can help with that. Honestly, my childhood wasn't stellar, so there isn't a lot I want to re-create with LO about it; I've spent a lot of brain space thinking through the way I don't want this kid to grow up. But DH and I have plenty we want to do with them, so we'll create our own traditions and memories.
  • 26 weeks + 3 days over here with my girl. Restless leg syndrome is still making life challenging but compression socks are helping. We built a bookcase and her dresser is being delivered tomorrow! So exciting. It'll be a few more weeks until we receive the crib that my MIL generously bought, but things are actually coming together a bit for her nursery...right before the 3rd trimester, ha.

Speaking of the 3rd trimester, can't believe its my second to last week in this group! I will be joining @oxinfree over on the 3rd once I hit 28 weeks which is in 11 days  :o

I have a bunch of travel coming up-- for work this week and then on Saturday I leave to head to San Diego for our baby moon! I'll come back right in time to turn 28 weeks.

QOTW: Wow there are so many things I look forward to. I'll jump on the Christmas bandwagon bc I am a total Christmas freak- we have a lot of lovely traditions during the month of December that I can't wait to share with her.  Also, I can't wait for her to meet her big brother Omar :) We have a lot of family snuggle time.

I'm 24 weeks today with a boy. Next appt is tomorrow. I was sick Saturday morning and this morning, so either MS is back or Baby Boy is kicking my stomach, making me throw up. No fun. I do love feeling his kicks at other times, though. I've been obsessing about his name. It's a bit overwhelming.

QOTW:  I look forward to the Christmas traditions also. Experiencing them with a child will be fun!  I also want to share with him the love of nature, hiking, gardening, being at the beach...

  • I'm 17+2.  We find out next Friday what we are having.  I also thought we had names pretty picked out, but no.. apparently not.  So I bought a book and we will see.  I also dreamed last night it was a boy.  We have both been thinking girl since a gut feeling the day of transfer, so we will see.

Speaking of my dream.  I woke up on my back and my lower tummy felt like it was falling asleep.. has anyone had that happen?  I'm afraid to google.

QOTW:  Travelling.  We went camping a lot.  Also went to the Outer Banks almost every year.  I want to be able to do the same with little one.  Hubby wants to as well.

  • Lurking from 3rd tri...
@sasha29-2 I'm the same way for my boobs! My band size is also small, so I have to go to a specially store. Great bras, just expensive buying them so often. They did give me a couple of small band extenders. They said to try expanding the band a bit too see if that would help before buying a larger size. They also fitted me in soft cups, so they could stretch a bit more. Not sure if you've tried all of that or not.
  • Happy Tuesday Ladies! Sorry for the late check in but I am glad to read everyone is doing well. Exciting we have another couple ladies ready for the 3rd Tri in about a week!

I'm 19+5 today with a little lady and we have our Anatomy Scan on Thursday!! So anxious to see LO and really anxious to see if everything is OK! I can't wait only 2 more sleeps haha

  • Hello ladies! I'm 20w4d with our little lady. Nothing much to report here since last week, just taking it easy like the doc said. We bought a bunch of pet-friendly house plants this weekend, and it just makes the house feel so much more fresh. Hoping the cats don't gnaw all of the leaves off.  :D

QOTW: Honestly, I'm really looking forward to meals as a family. My dad worked out of town a lot when I was young, but when he was in town he would always make amazing meals for us. DH loves to cook too so we are both excited about having family meal time together, including pizza nights on the couch.  :D

@kp214 hugs to you, crossing my fingers that it is temporary for you. <3 I'm pretty good, just get cramps after walking a bit so I have to slow down. I think my stomach significantly grew this past week which is just bizarre at the speed of growth. It really is like we swallowed a watermelon seed.  :D

@ChocolateIsLife you are right about the watermelon seed!  Lol. I've thought that a few times. Ugh to cramps. Have you also tried increasing your fluid intake?  My nurse practitioner told me today that increasing my fluid intake can help with swelling in my feet and hands as well as leg cramps. Hope that passes soon.

  • @kp214 water helps so much! The OB said the cramps are from my fibroids so they are likely staying, but I get lots of gentle back rubs from hubby because of them.  :D<3 I'm going to check with OB to see if I can start doing prenatal yoga again because that was pretty helpful.

  • @persnickity Done done and done, lol. Have you ever checked Amazon? I have a small band size too (28 pre-pregnancy, 30 right now), and once I figured out my size in Freya and Cleo, I started buying them on Amazon, if you're not picky about colors and styles you can find them a lot of times under $25 each. I lost a bunch of weight in the year before I got pregnant, and went from a 30G to a 28FF, and I kept all my 30's, so I've been wearing those, but my cups spilleth over by a lot now. I bought a couple 28H's a couple months ago, soft cup, they fit for about ten minutes. I just bought 30HH's to see how they work, I can ship them back (yay Prime) if they don't fit. If I end up in I's or J's I don't even know what I'll do. It's comical at this point cause if I don't laugh I'll cry.
  • @srh18 ahh grats on finding out gender!! 3 boys is going to be so much fun! FX that TTTS markers do not progress any further. <3 I love your QOTW. Baking with my grandma was such a great past time as a child. I can't wait for all of these happy experiences that we will all be sharing with our babes.

  • @srh18 Wow! Three boys! Talk about a handful! Have you thought of possible names yet? Congrats!

AFM, had another OB appt today. They found baby's HB instantly (148bpm) and it sounded great. : ) Their BP machine scared me a bit when it read 140 first, then on the other arm it read 83. Lol. We had to take it manually, and luckilly it was a nice, regular 118. :)

Oh, and I am officially 17 weeks today! Wondering when I'll start to feel baby move. Hopefully soon!

@LeFemmeViolette - yay for good OB appointment. Feeling baby move is such an amazing experience. I'm sure it'll come soon but usually by 20 weeks! Everyone is different. <3

  • @sasha29-2 once I find one I like, I do use Amazon. The hard part is that I have to try on a bunch when I change sizes to make sure it doesn't run into my armpits or something else annoying like that. It's easier to go to the store near me and try on a bunch.
  • @latershrader Oh yes! About once a day I'm like "hmm... was that baby or digestion?" And I wait for it to happen again and it doesn't. We have been checking in with her once a day with a doppler (excessive, I know), and sometimes once we find the HB, there are loud noises and then the HB fades and comes back, so I'm pretty sure that's her moving... just can't feel it yet!

  • @lefemmeviolette yeah that bp reading would freak me out too! Glad it was a fluke and bp and hb are healthy :) I feel like I may have been feeling the kicks around 18 weeks, but didn't realize it until a week later, because they were so light, and I'm always gassy.  :D  I'm about 21 weeks now and I can actually see them from the outside, but DH can't feel yet. They progress every day though so I'm sure you will start feeling them very soon!

Thanks ladies! I'm excited for our boys!

@LeFemmeViolette so happy your bp was normal!! We're having a hard time with boys' names! I love Oliver, but other than that, we've got nothing. I would love any suggestions!!
  • @srh18 Triplet boys! That is so exciting, I think they will have the most amazing bond it will be wonderful watching them grow together :)

@LeFemmeViolette I think I started feeling baby *Riley* around 17 weeks and it defiantly started as the whole is that her thing. I felt some punches and kicks last night but we are not feeling them outside yet. I hope you feel your LO soon, its so special!

So DH and I went to our AS yesterday and it went great! Our OB had us go to an MFM facility for the US because we did IVF and it was the only one in the area so we arrived for our 2:30 appointment at about 2:15 and got called back to get started after 4:00. The wait was brutal but we finally got to see our Little Girl (who we've already named Riley Charlize). Dr. said she weighed 12 oz and is right on track for our EDD! Sad I won't get to see baby girl until she comes unless we go for another private scan but I am so happy to hear she is healthy and right on track in there  <3

@Joslynj11 so happy to hear your AS went well! The wait is so brutal. They always seem to be behind at the imaging center I go to as well.

We have a busy weekend of cleaning/organizing before DH goes out of town Sunday. We are going to a BBQ tonight, and doing the baby registry tomorrow morning, which will be a lot of fun, but I kind of want a nap just thinking about how busy the weekend will be.   :D

@ChocolateIsLife - literally just was trying to sit up from a lying position... used my abs pretty much exclusively to sit myself up (not really thinking anything of it) and I felt it snap almost. Best way to get up is to roll onto side and push up with arms I've now learned. A little late for me but hopefully no one else has this issue ;)

  • @srh18 congrats, what fun to have 3 boys!! I love Oliver :) here's our list if it helps at all!

    Keagan (leaning towards this)
    Graham
    Braden
    Patrick
    Kylar
    Nolan

other names I liked but hubby vetoed (we're the worst with agreeing on names)
    Hudson
    Elliott
    Caleb
    Cameron
    Nico (nickname for Nicolas)
    Reid
    Brock

@Joslynj11 I love the name Riley! So sweet!!

We have one last low key weekend before chaos starts (family wedding, family reunion, etc) so hoping for down time. We saw a play this week and baby boy was bouncing like crazy, can't wait for my husband to feel it too!
  • @oxinfree The pulled Ab muscle sounds AWFUL! I actually pulled one of my ab muscles years ago and its the worst. Many people don't know how much you use your stomach muscles for each day  until you hurt one.  Oh and we fell in love with the name Riley during our first transfer. When we found out it was a girl a few weeks back DH said there was no more thinking too it  ;) I have LOVED boys names for girls since I can remember. Now I am practicing using her name! Did you already mention your LO's name or are you keeping it secret til his big day?

@ChocolateIsLife I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one who hasn't registered yet!! The wait was terrible but I am so glad that DH was with me, I usually go to my appointments alone. My phone died a few minutes before we got there so it would have been so much worse alone haha!

Our weekend is pretty chill, just hanging out at the beach and trying to relax. Really hoping I don't get to hot because the heat really gets to me and makes me throw up if I'm not careful  B)

We've already shared the name with friends and family (after using ourselves a few weeks privately to check that we wanted to commit). Have fun at the beach!
