• There wasn't much they could do for the sting but pain and anxiety meds. Pain should go down in about 24 hours. For children they do a lot more monitoring and will administer anti venom, but it's super expensive (like $60,000) and most adults don't need it.

• @Sailing_Mama Thinking of you!
• @JJMNO1616 Yay on finding a new mattress!!! My hubby has been DYING for a new mattress. We have had our current one for 5 years and he has basically hated it since about 6 months in. He told me today that the process for finding a new one will be arduous because he is going to make us test approximately 18 million before choosing :D

• @grnmtnmama My DH and I couldn't agree until we laid on the one we bought and then we both knew it was "the one" right away. I like a softer bed and he likes firm so we kept going back and forth but the tempurpedic was a perfect compromise. It also has this awesome cooling technology which I'm hoping will decrease our arguments about the AC. lol!
• @Sailing_Mama I am so, so sorry to hear that. MH's uncle who he is very close with had a stroke in 2010 and it was a tough road, but he is actually doing really well now now that he has adapted and been through speech and occupational therapy. It was hard at the beginning, but he really does feel like himself now. So much luck and love to your dad and to you <3
• @doxiemoxie212 @kiki75 For anyone who is allergic just an FYI that the shots DO work. MH is 2 years in and he used to be a wreck around cats for even a short period of time and now he can have one on his lap for 30 minutes before sneezing uncontrollably, which is a big improvement. The main thing is you have to be living in the same place/have the same health insurance for 4 years. You need shots every 2 weeks at first, but then you have less over time and he's now at 6 weeks.
• @vflux33 DH is actually considering it, but I think if he's going to spend all that time (and likely money because deductibles), he should get shots for his deathly allergy to tree nuts lol. but the dog wants a cat!
• @doxiemoxie212 If you think that you guys are moving cross country within a year, which I know is a strong possibility for you given previous conversations, he should just wait. The allergist makes, like, a special allergy cocktail shot just for you and it would be super hard to switch allergy doctors mid-treatment (MH waited to get the shots for years for the same reason).
• Hi, Ladies. Popping on. Every time I post, the text box loses what I wrote so I look weird
• @doxiemoxie212 - I don't think they have immunotherapy for tree nut or any other food allergies. It's more for seasonal, pet, or outdoor allergies. I started immunotherapy primarily due to the hives I was getting from dust mites, but couldn't get past the smallest dosage without having a severe reaction. Fortunately, I'm not allergic to dogs or cats, though.

• @pebbledam MH has a big problem with dust mites too--it's in his cocktail shot :) (Which is good because I was trying really hard to wash everything in scalding hot water to help keep him from being sick all the time and it was NOT working).
• @vflux33 - Yeah, a few years ago we were having our basement re-finished due to sewage damage and as soon as it got too cold to leave the windows open all of the construction dust was coating everything in the house. That's when the hives started. I think I'd be ok doing the immunotherapy now, but at the time my body was already in a heightened state of reactivity. Hand hives are painful.

• @pebbledam Oh wow--MH didn't have hives-- I had no idea that was even a thing. We had no construction issues, but we went from a very new building with no carpet to renting an old farm-y house in the country and he was just sneezing and having bad asthma all the time. Since we no longer had a cat we had no idea what was going on. When he got the skin prick test at the allergist he tested "off the charts" (according to the nurse) for cats and dust mites. Hives sound really shitty!
• @Sailing_Mama I'm so sorry about your dad. I'm sending you positive vibes.

• @kbamomma33 Yes! We both got the Tempurpedic pillow with the gel too! Our bed actually came with $300 credit to buy pillows and a mattress protector so they were "free". Now I just have to buy bedding for a king sized bed. I can't decide what look I want to go for.
• @kiki75 I have suggested a barn cat to him. We live in the perfect spot to have some barn cats too - middle of nowhere and a huge garage for shelter. The prospect of cats keeping mice away ALMOST convinced him but he still gives a hard pass lol.

We have a white, I don't know what the word is... rouched maybe, duvet cover that I actually got at target. I really like it because it brightens up our room and makes it feel hotelish. Plus, it's really easy to change the look with different throw pillows because anything matches it. I love white duvet covers. We've got a plain white one in our guest room too. Target FTW for bedding IMO! :)
• @JJMNO1616 We found our king sized bedding on Rue La La for a great deal. We went with white sheets and a grey duvet. Simple but you can make it more fun with colorful throw pillows!

• @JJMNO1616. Looking good so far! Decorating IS fun ;)

@vflux33. Ah! That is so wild! Small world, right?
• @JJMNO1616
Love your pillow set up!!
• @barrelocarol I wish those were mine! I got that picture off Pinterest though and it's what I'm using for inspiration. :)
