  • 37 weeks yesterday. Appointment today.

They have been doing growth scans due to my last baby being big. Measuring 8.06lbs today. They are guessing (with the half a lb a week logic) that baby will be 9.14lb at due date. He will let me go to my due date of 6-19 but not passed. I'm not convinced of all this ultrasound/weight stuff, since every time someone I know says they are having a huge baby due to these measurements, they end up having an average size. So we shall see!

Otherwise, not dilated at all. Not effaced. Baby is still very high. Not of this means anything, but I guess it can be fun to hear the weekly improvements or whatever.

I have some stuff done. I need to go and buy new bottles, crib sheets and diapers. I also need to take the car seat out of the box and pack my hospital bag.

This was DD. She measured 9+ at my due date, we went 2 weeks over, and she juuuuuuust barely made the 8# mark at birth.

I'm terrified of it going the other way and she ends up bigger than predicted! I just have a feeling she will be huge.
  • 37 weeks. I've been having growth scans too. Baby has been measuring big. At 36 weeks they said she is 7lbs 4oz. My last baby was 9lbs 3oz. They think she will be about the same size as he was. He measured big most of my last pregnancy. I'm missing my 7lb 15oz babies from my 20's!

This is me also.  Baby was estimated at over 7lbs last week.  BUT I think their growth slows a bit the last couple of weeks so I don't think they are actually putting on a half a pound a week.  At least I hope not!

  • Hesitant to start a whole thread on this, but just found out I'm positive for GBS. Kind of freaking out-we all know how unkind Dr. Google can be. Trying to come up with questions to ask my OB tomorrow to ease my fears...any positive experiences in the meantime?

I was GBS positive with my first baby. They just wanted me to come into the hospital with enough time to get me 2 doses of the meds via IV. The next two kids I tested negative but still requested the IV meds cuz I'm paranoid lol. All was well and no issues with any of the babies. I'm waiting at my appointment right now to see what my results are for this pregnancy. I will have the meds regardless. I almost never take meds for anything and I like the idea of being extra cautious.
  • @JennMof3 Thats basically what my OB said, antibiotics during labor. I tested negative with DS, and I've always heard it's not a big deal...but I started reading about what can go wrong with the few babies who DO end up with it.

Hope your results are negative (I'm sure I'd request the meds, regardless, as well!) and your appointment goes well!
  • @GoodWitchoftheNorth thank you. My results were negative. I will still get the meds because I do like to be extra cautious and my dr was 100% ok with that. I figure I've waited 9 months to get this far and taken so many precautions why wouldn't I want to be extra sure. I thought I read something way back with my first pregnancy that results can be negative and then positive at a later time in the same pregnancy. That had me worried so when I picked my dr I made sure to ask that they didn't have any issues giving the meds regardless.

I was GBS+ with my first. It really wasn't a big deal at all; just had to get two rounds of penicillin in before DS was born. No complications whatsoever.

A good friend of mine tested positive with all three of her kids, and they are all just fine. Chances of problems are something like 1 in 2000, and that is (I think) for mothers that are untreated.

Baby must be settling in to my pelvis because it feels like someone has kicked me in the crotch. I'm so uncomfortable! That on top of braxton hicks and having to pee every 45 minutes makes work kind of unbearable. 37 weeks tomorrow!
  • I just realized I haven't felt her move in a few hours. I was very active earlier with DS so I'm wondering if all that movement rocked her to sleep. I just ran down the list of to do's (drink sweet and cold, eat move etc) and nothing is waking her. I'm torn btwn thinking this is normal and just going to bed and heading out to the hospital. My hospital is a little over an hour away so I'm not looking forward to making the drive if this is normal. Any insight??
  • @neludelu definitely call. I'd much rather be conservative on issues like this and go in just in case.

This LO doesn't always respond to the typical to do's either; I generally have to poke him to wake him up if I don't think he's moving enough!
Can you call your OB? Either way, I always think it's better to be on the safe side if you are uneasy. Driving an hour to make sure baby is okay isn't a wasted trip.
  • Personally, I'd wait until morning. This baby always moves the most in the evening when I lie down and also right when waking up in the morning. I'd give it a little bit of time and wait until you've gone to bed, woken up tomorrow and eaten something then.
  • @JennMof3 @Wino0920 @ladylolly89 @shmarpler Thanks for the support ladies...I'm feeling much better about it. Had to get off Google and out of my head for awhile, so I organized the nursery a bit. Sometimes I get so caught up in "what ifs?"

@neludelu I agree with @mirdamae03, I would definitely at least call your OB. Better safe than sorry...keep us updated!
  • I'm heading in to L&D now. Hopefully this is just a scare. Thanks ladies.

I had a scare like that with dd where she didn't mind all day. It really scared me, but turned out to be fine.

Keep us posted. I'll be checking for updates.

  • @neludelu Any updates???
  • Hey ladies. Thanks for checking on me. I went in and they found a heartbeat but noticed that she wasn't moving much via ultrasound. They discharged me early this morning and set me up with a few apts today to see what's going on. I'm waiting to be seen now. Hopefully everything is ok and she is just being lazy.

Glad to hear it! Hopefully she's just being lazy or settling into a weird position in anticipation of her journey out! Keep us posted.
  • @neludelu I'm so glad things are looking okay for now!
  • @neludelu Glad you went in last night. It sounds like they're on top of things and taking good care of the two of you. Sending positive thoughts.
  • @neludelu, glad to hear that! My mw told me that babies sometimes just have "down" days like we do, and are more sleepy than usual. Hopefully baby will be nice and wiggly for you today.

@neludelu glad everything is ok and youve got a plan!
  • How is everyone at 37 weeks doing? Finally 37 weeks! woo!! I'm uncomfortable, tired, hot, irritable...etc etc.

Signs of labor? so much cramping/contractions. Nothing strong enough or regular enough to time though. I think I've been losing my mucus plug a little bit every 2-3 days. It's not bloody though but I guess it doesn't have to be. I've also been feeling a little leakage like once a day almost every day this week. MW said to call if I feel it 2-3 times in one day.

Recent appointments/checks? my weeklies are on Wednesdays. Last week my BP was slightly elevated from what it normally has been. They went over pre-e symtpoms with me and sais they weren't worried since I didn't have any other signs. Still worried about that! They also don't do cervical checks until closer to 39 weeks. I decided not to get one last week because I didn't want to be dissapointed if I had made no progress. I will consider asking for one this week though since I've had increased cramping and possibly lost my plug!

Are you doing anything to attempt to start labor? Sex twice last monday which seemed to jump start these cramps that have been slowly getting worse. Sex and nip stimulation yesterday. And then I could barely walk from all the cramping and pressure!!! We also went on a very short walk last night and I bounced on the ball. Today I'm going to bounch on the ball and take a walk this evening when it cools off. Hoping to bounce and walk daily now that I'm done working!

Are you ready today or fine with LO hanging out for a few more weeks? I'm SO done being pregnant. She can come right now!

  • Just hit 37 weeks today!
    Signs of labor?
Nothing. Just lots of Braxton Hicks.
    Recent appointments/checks?
Had my home visit and gbs test on Friday. My mw said I have to keep baby in until we get the results back.  :D
Are you doing anything to attempt to start labor?
Not yet, but I plan to stay RRL tea and EPO on Tuesday.
Are you ready today or fine with LO hanging out for a few more weeks?
I really don't know. I just don't want to go over again!
    Comments/questions
It's really hot today, but I'm so glad the humidity is lower than usual. My feet are poofy.

  • Just hit 37 weeks today (I feel so behind)!
    Signs of labor?
I did so much "nesting" yesterday that I was almost positive I would go into labor over night.  But in reality, there really aren't a whole lot of signs.  Braxton Hicks like crazy...
    Recent appointments/checks?
I had one last Wed. and will have another today.  We have an elective induction scheduled for the 18th (Father's Day) but I'm pretty sure she'll arrive before then.
Are you doing anything to attempt to start labor?
Not really yet.  I wanted to make it until the end of the school year (3 more days!) but I have been drinking my RRL tea and I guess we'll start having sex again soon.  :s
Are you ready today or fine with LO hanging out for a few more weeks?
I go back and forth.  This pregnancy has not been fun for me... I'm still nauseous all the time and food doesn't taste good.  I never got my energy back from the first trimester either... basically this whole pregnancy has been like the first trimester for me and it sucks... BUT I also want to make sure she's ready to come out.  Last apt measured her at 7 1/2 lbs so I know she's big enough but if she feels she needs to cook more, I want to allow her that.  I just wish she didn't make me feel so miserable!
    Comments/questions

  • How is everyone at 37 weeks doing? Officially 37 weeks as of yesterday and can't believe I'm already here, although I feel like I have been pregnant forever!

Signs of labor? Nothing really, but I've had some slightly looser stools. I've also been kind of nesty and really wanting to not be pregnant anymore, although that doesn't count for much. But no pressure, backaches, BHs, cramps, leaks or lost mucus plugs :)

Recent appointments/checks? Had an appointment a couple days ago and got my GBS swab plus a verbal scolding about my weight gain. Oh well. I refuse to have my cervix checked because that number means nothing to me until I'm in active labor, plus the last thing I need right now is to accidentally jump start labor by irritating my cervix at all!

Are you doing anything to attempt to start labor? Nope! Trying to avoid at all costs! Would love to have a 39+ weeker due to work and school clinical scheduling.

Are you ready today or fine with LO hanging out for a few more weeks? Please stay put til week 39 or 40, baby girl!

Comments/questions: Still blown away by how few of us have given birth on our BMB at this point. In the June '15 board I was a part of with DS, it seemed like everyone gave birth before their due dates, including more than a handful of very early preemies. I know this is a good thing, but the main reason I check our BMB is for birth announcements and birth stories :)
