37 Weeks: comment, share progress, commiserate

Hello ladies!
Things are slow and I thought having a thread for how many weeks along we are would be beneficial at this point. My weekly ticker change never happens.
How is everyone at 37 weeks doing?
Signs of labor?
Recent appointments/checks?
Are you doing anything to attempt to start labor?
Are you ready today or fine with LO hanging out for a few more weeks?

Re: 37 Weeks: comment, share progress, commiserate

  • Thanks for starting this thread! I'm 37+4 today and have had painful contractions (irregular though) every evening for the last 3-4 nights. I have an appointment tomorrow morning and every Monday morning until baby is born! Tomorrow I'm getting a cervix check and my OB said if it's looking "favorable" she would do a sweep since I'm only a couple days from 38 weeks. I had 2 sweeps done with DD and it didn't do anything so I'm not expecting anything, but it doesn't hurt to see if my body is ready. I'm not doing anything else to start labor - just drinking lots of water, continuing to take my iron pills, relaxing as much as I can with a toddler, but I am also drinking RRL tea (see if it helps this time around- labor with DD was an excruciating 17 hours). I'm pretty much ready whenever she is! I don't have a hospital bag packed, but I didn't really use anything from the bag I packed last time except for a nursing bra, makeup, phone charger, Gatorade, brush and shampoo/conditioner. The hospital had things like brand new toothbrushes & toothpaste, body wash, towels etc. I'm slowly making a pile of a few things that I'll throw into a backpack or something when I go into labor. I'm pretty uncomfortable so I'd love to be able to meet her as soon as we can but I'm not opposed to going passed my due date because I know it's easier right now than it will be when she's out! DD was 2 days early so we'll see what her sister's plans are.

  • Perfect timing! I am 37 weeks tomorrow and I spent last night thinking I was in labor. We got home from our mother's day celebration and I was having what I'm pretty sure were contractions that lasted 30-60 seconds, but were far apart. But then I also had (TMI alert) some serious diarrhea, which I know can be a sign of labor, but also could have explained the pains. This went on for about 3 hours and then I fell asleep. I woke up twice more with lighter cramping and I feel light cramping this morning. I know this could all mean nothing but i'm a little nervous. It's a really busy week in our lives and I have a different care plan for my DD each day bc everyone is so busy so it just would not be an ideal time to be in labor. Also, I'm a STM and it's annoying that I still don't know what's going on! I have a dr's appointment on Thursday where they'll do my first cervical check so hopefully I can hold out till then. Feel good mamas, home stretch!
  • I will also be 37 weeks tomorrow. Waiting for my new OBs nurse to call and schedule a consult for me (hopefully this week??). We need to set a date for my c-section so no, not doing anything to help encourage labor to start.

I go back and forth on feeling ready vs not ready to meet this LO quite yet. Mostly I just want to be off work already...

Omg we are living parallel lives- that was literally how my night was also.  I almost woke my husband up several times because I thought it was go time.  Still feeling not that great this morning- hoping you get some rest today!!

@CurlyMommy416 -Ugh! Isn't it annoying? I think I pushed this part of pregnancy out of my memory. I hate not knowing. Hope we start to feel better today (or get this show on the road!).
  • 37+3 today. I had an appointment this morning and had them check to make sure i wasn't leaking amniotic fluid bc I was worried last week.  No leak and baby is head down,  so that is good news.
I also had my first cervical check and there is no progress at all. I am pretty disappointed even though I'm perfectly okay waiting a couple more weeks to meet the baby and even though I know being dialated and effaced doesn't mean much.
Last night I had some increased pressure down low, but no other signs of anything.
  • 37+4 and 3cm as of 36+6 so I'll be curious to see what Wednesday brings at my next check. I've also been dealing with the evening contractions around 10 minutes apart 1 minute long before tapering out after a few hours. I'm not anticipating going into labor in the next week, but we shall see.

I like this thread and find it interesting to see where we all are. I'm 37+2 today. The last couple of days I've noticed some changes in my body but I know they could mean nothing. I've felt a lot more pressure way low and occasional shooting pains but I can't determine the source of the pain. For all I know it could be the baby kicking vital organs or digestion issues. I definitely feel the baby lower putting a lot more pressure on my bladder too. But I haven't experienced anything that feels like contractions. I'm still kind of unsure what contractions feel like. There have been a couple times where I thought I might be experiencing Braxton hicks contractions but can't really be sure.

As for how *ready* I feel... I am VERY ready. I'll be induced on the 28th at 39 weeks if I don't go into labor before then. I want very badly to go into labor before then so I can avoid induction! Seriously though, everything in our house is ready for the baby to be here. We have diapers and wipes out on the changing table and PNP, all the bedding and her clothes are washed and put away, and my hospital bag is mostly packed (just need to throw in a few things last minute). So now I just sit and wait and enjoy my maternity leave (which just started this week).

This afternoon I have an NST and later in the week I have an NST + OB visit. Not sure if I'll get a cervix check or not.

  • @momma2char what did they say at your appointment?
@mirdamae03 that sounds so close to me! I think that would frustrate me to continue on in that state.
@wifeinraleigh28 I'm so jealous of your maternity leave starting already. Work is becoming more and more exhausting but I want as much time with baby as possible!

  • I'm only 36 weeks today, but feeling SO ready. I have my appointment on Wednesday and will be getting the GBS swab so I'm going to ask for a cervical check while my bottoms are off anyway. I'm just curious to see if my body is making any progress. I have been having more and more braxton hicks contractions and they are getting more painful as the days go by. I can hardly sleep anymore because she goes to whatever side I'm laying on and my belly just aches. I'm full of complaints!

Actually being ready for baby is more of a so-so situation. I have a bag packed but it isn't complete and I still need to get my pump...however if baby comes I have enough done that we will survive and my pump gets picked up from the hospital so no worries there. I just wanted to wash things prior to baby coming, but if it doesn't get done no worries.
  • @wifeinraleigh28, with DD, I had BH for months before I figured out what they were. I never felt them, but my belly would get really hard. This time, I can actually feel my uterus pulling the baby down, and it puts a lot of pressure on my bladder. Contractions woke me up the other night. Not because they hurt, but because my half full bladder couldn't take the pressure.

@emichelle86, try putting a thin pillow under your belly. It has made a huge difference for me.

I had the doctor with jumbo hands but apparently my cervix was too high to check (or his big hands couldn't reach)?! Oh well though- gives me extra time to get things organized around the house and spend time with DD  My strep B swab was negative which is good news so I'll try the cervix check again next week when I have a different doctor lol.
  • Good call on this thread. Once you cross that 37 week line, things start to get real! I went from being active and busy at work and productive, to barely mobile in about a week's time. Crazy. I'm 37+2. A week ago I was 50% at my check. I go for an nst tomorrow and they'll check again. I had a growth scan last week that puts this guy over 8lbs already! I'm having a repeat c-section, so I'm definitely not doing anything to kickstart labor.
I'm not mentally ready to add #3 into the mix yet. I worry about my other kids and my ability to be there for all of them. My daughter has a conference track meet and prom this week, so I'm hoping this week is uneventful so I can be here for her.

I'm at 37wks + 5 days today and I think my pregnancy hormones are finally kicking in. I'm just so annoyed with everyone and everything. I could never relate to everyone's stories before about how they just want their LOs to come out already, but god, it's really kicking in now. I'm not entirely prepared yet but I think a lot of it has to do with just wanting to be over and done with work already!! It's been so difficult dragging my butt to work, let alone getting through the whole day! I just wanna stay in bed all day, everyday! And my dr is driving me insane! Last wk, he said that we'd get LO out by nxt wk (either induce or c-sect) as he didnt want to go past the 39th wk. And this wk, he said we should just wait for it all to happen naturally and we shouldn't try to plan these things. I was already mentally psyching myself for next wk. I'm a planner and hate having uncertainty in my life, and this is just driving me crazy! Give me a plan and let's stick with it damnit!! (sorry!)
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Had my 37 week appointment this morning. Besides random Braxton hicks no signs of labor at all. I've declined cervical checks so far because too lazy to take my pants off. I've been drinking RRL since beginning of third trimester to strengthen my uterus for when it's time. I also started eating 6 dates/day to help my cervix be kind to me in any way when my body goes into labor. I really love being pregnant and am more than ok if this baby wants to hang out for a while. We're ready if she does come but in my mind I'll be overdue like I was with my son.
  • I'll be 38 weeks in two days, induction is planned for this weekend. No contractions and I've declined cervical checks so far. This morning I've been so nauseous and throwing up like I'm in first trimester. I really hope it's a fluke and I'm not in early labour as I am hours away from my hospital (and would have to be airlifted there in the event of delivery). We plan on heading down tomorrow so stay in there baby

Hope it's a fluke! Our babe dropped last week and that's how I felt, but he's still in there. So that could be what's going on with you too.
  • @lifeislove87 Nausea hit me today too. Almost puked brushing my teeth, then my body decided mint gum is appalling again right before a meeting. Not fun!

In other news my MW wrote me off work as of Monday so HURRAY for last 3 days of work! Now hopefully the OB will schedule my c-s for after my sister arrives from Europe and we will be allllll set.

  • Ugh thanks guys! Still puking but baby is still in there, I feel like it's first tri all over again!
  • How's everyone doing? I had my first cervical check today at 37+2, I am soft and short but not dilated. Dr believes the baby will come early like my first, but who really knows. The end of pregnancy is such a mind game!
  • @mamaelle27 I'm excited for my appointment on Monday. I hope my OB has something interesting to say! I've been feeling a little bit more pain near my cervix and more BH in the evenings, so maybe something is starting to happen? Who knows!

37 weeks today, no idea on progress, but scheduled for c sec on June 9th. So I am all about that baby staying put until then. I have baby's bag packed, mine half packed and a list of to dos on the fridge. My brother is graduating next week, so super important to be there. Overall I can say I feel pretty good besides feeling there is literally a baby head in my vagina, I am starting to get very nervous for having a newborn and going into a state of depression/ anxiety again. My carpets are being cleaned week of baby, as well as I have a lot of cleaning and last minute things to have ready!! We can power through this ladies.

I'm 36 +3 and my lo is doing flips! So painful. He's already 7lbs so not so gentle haha. I've been having horrible period like cramps and diarrhea (TM I) fighting a cold and generally just great ;) I couldn't walk last night with the pressure and tightness in my pelvic area. Anyone else feeling this way? Its still a touch early so its making me nervous!!!

Right there with you, minus the cold. He's not doing flips, but he's cork screwing through my pelvis. lol I had diarrhea last week and now I'm just nauseas randomly. We're getting close!!

    That sounds lovely!!!

    So close ❤❤
  • 37 weeks and I'm exhausted but we're finishing nursery. Just have to wash bedding and hopefully find money in the budget for me a glider.

Have a few more essentials to buy like a baby tub and boppy. Everything else can wait.

my bag is mostly packed except snacks, birth plan, shower shoes, nursing bra, and slippers.

Babys bag: just washed clothes today.

    Car seat is installed.

progress is not as bad as I thought. Now, I just need baby to stay inside until 40 wks.
  • 37 weeks here and I've done.... nothing.  Slacker.  No hospital bagged packed.  No car seat setup.  No restock on diapers for size 1s (cause I have monster babies).  Just hanging out.... getting punched in the cervix on the regular.  I'm fully expecting to be here until between week 40-41, but I guess I should do something reasonably soon.  Poor child #3.  Don't feel you are loved any less.

I'll be 37 weeks on memorial day.  SO excited to be this far along!  I'm hoping it will only be a couple more weeks since I am measuring ahead and baby was estimated at 7+ lbs already.  I've been having a lot of BH and cleaning the house like crazy.

  • 37 weeks exactly today!! It's crazy to think that within 3 (4 tops) weeks I'll be holding my precious little girl! It really feels like we all just joined this group a couple of months ago!
My next appointment is on Tuesday, but as of last week I was dilated to a 1, she didn't say what percent effaced I was (if any).
I wish I could say for certain whether or not I've been having BH, but being a FTM I really have no idea... pretty sure I haven't had any 'real' contractions though.
Part of me is absolutely ready for her to get here, I just want her to hold off until my OB is back from vacation on the 5th, lmao. I already have to see a different OB in the office this week and as uncomfortable as I am with that- I don't want him delivering my baby too.

  • 37 weeks tomorrow and I've had so many contractions today! They are the painful wrapping around your back kind too. Kind of 50/50 if I'm ready or not. Ready to be done being pregnant. Ready to hold my boy. But my freezers not full yet and I want to get the house cleaned up first. Kind of crazy we're all so far already!
  • 37 weeks today and I shook my ass on the dance floor all day at a wedding. Next up is taking out of town guests downtown tonight for some drinks and nightlife. I'll get back to mommy prep tomorrow. Need a car seat/stroller, pack the hospital bag, and decide in what he will sleep. YOLO to the rest.

37 weeks today! Feeling more uncomfortable everyday, luckily I'm all organised as it feels like I already have a baby. My DH was in a gas explosion at work and only just got out of Hospital after being there for nearly 2 weeks. Have been running around looking after him and it's definitely been stressful and tiring.
Hoping bub stays in there as long as possible so we have time to recover from this experience.
Being a FTM I wouldn't have a clue if I've had any BH yet .. Can't believe we'll all have our babies in our arms soon! Very exciting  :)

I hit 37 weeks today... eeek! It doesn't seem real, aside from how uncomfortable I am! My mother keeps insisting she is coming this weekend, only because my birthday was yesterday and hers is today. And while it would be neat I am so not ready for her to come this early! But she hasn't dropped yet and I really get the feeling she will take her sweet time coming out.

I ordered a new SUV back in January and it still hasn't arrived yet so that's making me a little nervous. Other than that I think we have everything we need to be ready! Need to pack my hospital bag this weekend.. been procrastinating that one!

How scary! I hope your hubby is feeling better soon. I can't even imagine what you're all going through. Your hubby won't want to miss out on any of the baby stuff so hopefully baby stays put! Plus you're going to need some help afterwards. Hopefully you have some family or good friends close by that can help if needed. Hoping for a speedy recovery for him.
  • @Kylieslip24 how are you feeling today? Have the contractions continued or faded away?

@megsyyx You sound very strong for dealing with such a tough situation! Hopefully DH continues to recover and your last few weeks of pregnancy are smooth and uneventful! I'll be thinking of you!
  • @kyreno11 I fell asleep at 8 yesterday with them still and woke up at 8:45 am and I'm back to normal. So I'm blaming stress and maybe being over tired??

It was very scary, I was a hormonal mess! Lol
Thank god it wasn't as bad as it could've been!
Yes we're very lucky he hasn't missed out on anything and he's just now starting to be able to look after himself so when bub gets here it shouldn't be too hard  :)
I definitely have plenty of support from family so I'll be okay!
