EDD is Jan 8th based on the first day of my last period. DD is a December baby so I'm OK with this one being a January baby. I went 42 weeks with DD and 41 with DS so I expect to be a little over 40w if anything.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
We did ear tubes and adenoids for DS this year plus lots of allergy testing for DD so I would LOVE to not have to deal with deductibles resetting. Oh well...
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I had prodromal labor with DD which meant that I labored for many many days with intense contractions at night that fizzled during the day. We ended up being sent home from the hospital twice in the am after being admitted and expected to deliver the night before. The third time I went in I was already 9 cm but still got an epidural because i was EXHAUSTED! It was heaven. With DS I knew I wanted the epidural but somehow I developed a "window" in my lower back on the right where the epidural did not reach. It was TERRIBLE. They kept trying an increase in the medication to correct the window but it only made my legs feel like they where totally disconnected from my body and just super super uncomfortable. I was shaky and anxious. Soooo I would like to try a less medicated birth this time around.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I live near Boston so yes we have nasty snow/ice storms in January but no I think we will make it just fine.
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
EDD Jan 5. I don't really care, there are pros either way.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
Before New Years to avoid resetting the insurance would be nice, but my birthday is the 7th so having a baby on my birthday would be cool.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Im going to try a VBAC with epidural, unless my OB recommends against it. (DS was over 9lbs so she was kinda iffy about it working this time.) They won't induce so I might end up with an RCS but I don't know when they'd decide that.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Not really, Maryland doesn't usually get much snow until later in the winter. Also the hospital is almost all highway from our house and they're *normally* good about pretreating.
Jan 18 December Siggy Challenge: Christmas Movies
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care? EDD Jan 1. I was induced with DD at 37 weeks due to PIH. I haven't had an appointment yet so I'm not sure what my chances of having it again are.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? I have always said I don't want a Christmas baby but I'm planning on anytime between Dec. 15th and Jan 7th really.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? I would like to experience a spontaneous delivery this time. The induction was a little scary at times with the Pit being too high and the baby's heart rate decelerating.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Nope live in Arizona. We have at a dusty of snow twice in the last 10 years.
I'm measuring a week behind right now which pushed me into this group vs. Dec 2017 babies so I believe my due date would be January 2nd.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
I want to go early because I will be having a TOLAC (trial of labor after cesarean) and the closet it gets to the due date the harder they press you to get a RCS.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
VBAC. I believe if I'm over 41 they make me have a RCS.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Nope, I'm from MN and live in Iowa so the ice and cold don't scare me much. I highly doubt I'll have a 40 minute labor and if I do? I'll be thrilled!
Woo Maryland! Yeah I say it'll be fine but then I remember it took 5 days to get our little one street neighborhood plowed in 2015... FX we don't get a random New Year's storm!
Jan 18 December Siggy Challenge: Christmas Movies
Currently, my EDD is 1/6, but I don't have an appointment until the 9th and I have no idea when my ultrasound will be after that. I will, no ifs, ands, or buts, go early.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
It's for health reasons. I'm type 1 diabetic and I have issues with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy in all of my pregnancies. It's not an issue for me, but it can be fatal for baby.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Med free hospital birth at around 38 weeks
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I am if it's anything like December-January 2015-2016. We got 18" of snow dumped on us in 24 hours. If I'm at work when it happens, I'm not too worried since I'm a labor & delivery nurse. It has its perks.
@mamakassie2 That's exactly what happened with my epi with #2. I was induced with hopes of an unmedicated birth. Well, the fear of them breaking my water made me falter. It was misplaced the first time and who knows what happened to the second attempt, but I remember yelling when I felt them break my water. I felt all 8 lbs, 13 ozs, 20.5" of my son come out. The epi worked too well with my daughter, so I felt nothing and I hated that. I figure I pushed big boy out without the epi, I can do it again.

My DD is Jan 15, I will probably deliver that day based on my last two deliveries that were right at 40 weeks.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
This thread is what made me realize I will be paying two deductibles and waiting a year for the tax break, darn! Oh well, I can't sweat a few thousand dollars when it comes to the birth of my baby.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
My 2 previous deliveries were unmed in the hospital. My second was a precipitous labor, I was active labor for 1 hr 6min. It was brutal. I mean only 20 minutes of it was brutal but PTSD kind of misery. I even said, I am never doing that again and if I do I will get an epi. Annnd here I am thinking that I will probably just have to suck it up and skip the meds again. The needle in the spine thing is a big fear of mine. Although I need to quit reading all the posts about how great the epi is.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I do kind of worry about not making it. Not as much because of the weather but bc if the precip labor, but the weather could impact that as well. I'm in Missouri so we do occasionally get gnarly weather but it is likely it will work out.

Baby #4 on the way!
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
January 3rd...a tad early would be nice.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
I was a few days late with DS, and miserable! I was a week early with DD, and the misery hadn't quite set in yet...also, it would be nice not to have insurance start all over just in time for birth. But, as long as he/she is healthy, all is well.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
In medicated, in a birthcenter. Possibly a water birth...that was the lan with DD, but she came too quickly. There we no time to run a tub.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
A little. I live in Alaska...you never know what the roads are going to be in winter. I will definitely go earlier than I did last go round, since we almost didn't make it on clear, dry roads last time.
Jan 5... after having DD at 36w, I want this baby to be able to cook as long as possible.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
As nice as it would be to not having premiums reset, I don't want to rush it.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Praying for unmediated vbac. Pre-e stole my birth plan from me.
If I end up rcs, my office will try to have me go as long as possible.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I think we'll be fine...the bad winter weather is typically Februaryish
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? Since I'm going to have a repeat c-section they usually schedule those before the due date.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? RCS. I haven't been to this new OB yet. I've heard great things about her. I wanted to be close to home so I switched to a closer OB so we can deliver at the hospital close to our house, within 5 minutes. My previous OB wouldn't go before 39w, but for DS they induced me at 38w3d because the hospital didn't have any openings on 39w.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? The hospital is about 5 minutes away from my house, so I feel like we'll be good.

I'm due 1/6/18. Usually I'm all for letting baby come when they're ready, but we really need a December baby!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
Both tax and insurance. We already have tons of medical bills. If our deductible resets, it will put us in rough shape.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Water birth!
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I'm in Florida. No worries here! Plus my last one was 14 hours of labor. We'll make it lol.

Based on my U/S yesterday, my EDD is January 13, 2018. I don't care when I go specifically, but mid-January to mid-February actually works really well for extending my paid maternity leave by 2-3 days due to holidays at work! My insurance cycle resets at the fiscal year (i.e. July 1) so insurance-wise it makes no difference. Which reminds me, I do need to call my insurance and find out how much OOP I'll need to pay for the birth so I can up my MCAP for next year. My sister and my stepmom both have January birthdays, so a few days earlier could be a nice birthday surprise for either one of them!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? n/a
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I've never really thought about it much past vaginally and in a hospital. (I did a pre-planning tour of the LDR unit at one of the major hospitals in our area. Conveniently my RE is attached to it's sister hospital across town (They combined their LDR into just the one hospital during a big remodel maybe 2-3 years) I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to pain, so probably an epi to go with it.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Not too much. I am in the Midwest so we do have crazy and unpredictable winters, but we've also had like 80 degree weather in February so it really could go either way lol.

*Trigger Warning*
I don't really care as long as the bun is fully cooked. I was 39+6 with my first when they stopped my labor accidentally the first time at 38 weeks. My EDD from LMP/O is 26 January so I'm hoping for a January baby.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
I'm due at the end of the month so it's no difference for us.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Last time I went into labor at 38 weeks and the hospital accidentally shocked me out of labor when they were trying to "slow it," and so then when my water broke 13 days later, I had the joys of pitocin, 3 hours of labor at the hospital and 15 minutes of pushing out a baby. I have strong reactions that usually include vomiting when it comes to narcotics and pain meds and my mom almost died when she had an epidural sooo... I'm hoping this time to skip the pitocin contractions because they sucked so bad and repeat the doula part and the quick pushing part. Ha.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
We live in the desert so nope. The hospital is 25 minutes away but there's one that's only 10 minutes if there's an emergency.
3. I had an epi with DD1 and hated it, as did DD1. Studied Hypnobabies with DD2. Plan on the same with #3.
4. Yes. My parents will likely have left for FL for the winter, making childcare for DD1&2 a bit more challenging. DD2 came fast, we barely made it to the hospital. Snowy roads would have ended up with a road birth for sure!

3. My son was born via emergency c-section so this time I'm hoping I'm a good candidate for a VBAC, if not I'll have to have another c-section.
4. I live in Los Angeles, so no worries about ice or snow here
EDD 1/23. My DS was 40+1 and I'd be happy to stay close to my EDD again
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
My doctor said I'm a great candidate for a VBAC so ideally I won't have another csection but my first was an emergency due to a drastic decline in DS HR.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I live in Minnesota so it's definitely a fear to not make it to the hospital in time.
Don't particularly care. I'm on DH insurance so I need to see when deductibles re-set.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
I think a January baby would be nice. Simply because then he/she isn't "sharing" their birthdate with a major holiday (if they are not born on the 1st that is)
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I've been listening to the podcast "The Birth Hour" to and from work and have been debating. I really like my OB but I also like the idea of a Birth Center. There is a hospital here who has a Birth Center within it so I'm going to see if my OB has rights there and see if he ever partners with midwives. If not I would be good with an unmedicated hospital Birth with my OB and a doula.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
A bit. I've heard 1st pregnancies usually have longer labor but I live on a pretty out of the way street and am 30 min from the closest hospital without traffic.

On a hilarious semi related note (not needing DH drama), I leaked amniotic fluid at 39 w 3 days (and the day prior). I went to the doctor at 4 PM that day to check if it was amniotic fluid; the day before the doctor had said it was not, but I suspected she was wrong. Anyway, the doctor looked at it and said, "yes, that is amniotic fluid, and you need to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Just so you know, this labor will be a marathon, not a sprint." My mom was with me and we drove home. I get home and find DH lying on the couch. Naturally, I told him what just happened and started packing... Hand to god, he said, "Babe, I'm sorry I can't commiserate with you right now. I am so sick. I've had diarrhea all day." We had a fight... he seriously though MILD diarrhea was more urgent, pressing, and deserving of attention than the fact that I was about to be induced.
Needless to say, he can't handle intense things without turning the attention onto his own plights, lol! Men are funny.

I don't really have a preference on when baby comes. I'm due 1/24 so I guess I'm not hoping for a December baby just based on prematurity.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? Our insurance is pretty top notch so IDGAF about the deductible tbh. I try to see it as a whole year of already having met the deductible! lol.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? Hoping for a VBAC but we will see where this pregnancy takes me. I'm high risk so it will all just come down to that moment on whether we go for it or not. I refuse to be induced again so if it comes to that, schedule the rcs.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Not really. DH works at the hospital I will deliver in so he has always had to get there regardless of weather. Worst case, call an ambulance. Even worse worst case? DH will have to remember his school days and deliver me at home. I'm pretty sure there is a .1% chance of that happening.
1/13, I want to stay pregnant as long as possible. With DS1, I had him at 42+1 (vaginal), and DS2 was at 39+4 (c section). Doesn't mater to me really.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
The tax break would be nice, but no way in hell am I gonna wish for a 38 weeker to make it happen.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I live in the Deep South of the US, so not really a concern here.
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care? I'm due Jan 20 per my calc, so I'm feel like I'm too far away from December to go early enough to benefit.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? A December baby would be awesome for tax purposes we could use the extra return money, this year has sucked money wise, but in the end it's just not as concerning a factor as with my early September due date from DD. she squeezed in right before school cut off in August, and smart as she is, I'm happy she's not getting held back a year.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? I'm planning on a fully medicated vaginal hospital birth. Hopefully not as drawn out as with DD though, that was like 30 hours of sitting around numb follows by lots of yelling while I pushed.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Florida! So no worries about that, I do work about 40 miles from home and my preferred hospital so hopefully I have fairly mild contractions again to start so I can make it home in time again.
EDD is Jan 31st. Honestly, I was a week late with DS and didn't mind it! My mid-wife said that typically babies born later are happier and better eaters. He was such a happy baby! I KNOW this is not always the case and just her opinion...
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
Part of the reason I wouldn't mind going late is to spread the baby's birthday a little farther from Christmas - totally minor thing!
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Probably hospital birth with epidural. I attempted a homebirth last time (and LOVED parts of it) but my labor dragged on forever and I decided to go to the hospital. I ended up with an epidural and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! I'm slightly tempted to try at home again since often times the second time around is faster and I adored my mid-wife, I don't know...the epi is luring me in...
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
This is a legitimate concern for us. We're about 40ish mins to the hospital and can get serious snow and ice that time of year.
Jan 10th. I reeeally hate being pregnant... especially in that last month so I'm always OK with early if it's after 38 weeks and baby is healthy enough.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
For tax purposes, I wouldn't mind an end of Dec baby. My first was born at 38w6d. Second was 38w0d. This one will probably be the one that is different.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I'm undecided on medication at this point. My first two were unmedicatrd. My labors progress very quickly so I typically don't even have time for anything by the time I get to the hospital. But I remember telling my husband after the last one that I'm taking whatever they give me if there's a next time.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. IF this labor is the same as my other two I'll only be at the hospital ~1 hr before baby comes (that includes going through the process of being admitted). That's with perfect weather and at the time only one child to pack up and drag along in the middle of the night. But who knows!! This one could be 10 hrs.
