Don't comment on anything that has to do with anyone's appearance that can't be changed in 5 minutes. Even if you think it's nice. This is the rule I was raised with and will raise my children with. You don't comment on the pimple, but you do let them kniw about the spinach in their teeth . Even saying things you think is nice "omg you've lost so much weight" you DON'T KNOW even if you know they were trying to lose and think you're complimenting you don't know. Yes pregnant women get big. Yes it's good to have a bump. Yes we are all fucking thrilled that our babies are growing. But you don't know the circumstances (maybe that woman is putting up her child for adoption). I don't get why this concept is so difficult. Just don't do it. Shut your mouth
@bcashaw that is a great rule, I'm definitely adopting if for my own family! Hopefully remembering that now will keep me from making snarky comments about how they look right back at them!
@MississippiCatfish@DuchessOfCambridge@ugoglencoco Our family gets those comments anytime we're all out together. I actually enjoy when people say something about our 5 kids and I get to say "yep and another on the way!" Most people have a look of shock and sometimes disapproval. And yeah, now that we've announced that we're having a girl, I get the "oh, thank goodness." Umm...how about we thank God that the baby is healthy not that she'll have girl parts?! And, we've never been compared to a soccer team, but we have been asked if we were a summer camp at the beach once. Also, we do look like that at Aldi's!!
