Baby Names

Twin sister name help!

So, we have FINALLY decided on Cora Elizabeth for one of our twin girls. I love Adeline or Audrey for the other twin, but husband vetoed Audrey and says Adeline is "trying too hard" although I think I could convince him on it. He is sold on Alison, which I like too, but I have a nagging feeling it's a smidge dated? Or maybe it's more classic than I realize, which would make me feel better about it :)

So what works better to you all??
Cora Elizabeth and Adeline Grace
OR
Cora Elizabeth and Alison Grace

Big sis is Hannah Catherine. Thank you!!!

  • I prefer Adeline. I don't particularly care for Alison.

I like Alison. I think Adeline is going to end up feeling more dated than Alison.
  • I don't love Allison but I was tired of little Addy's last year. It's just so overdone and adding in Hadley's and all the Maddy's it is just too trendy

I love Audrey.... What about Alice? I prefer it to Alison. I don't mind Adeline but I agree there are a lot of Addy's these days. Cora is fresh...

suggesting... Caroline, Amelia, Iris, Ivy, Lydia, Jane, Lucy, Stella, Sadie ... what about Grace as FN?

    Edit it to add Sadie

  • Of the 2, I'd pick Allison. Adeline and Addy is very overdone. If you combine various spellings, it's a top 10 name. I think there are better names that fit with Cora more. I love Audrey. Suggest: Belle, Ivy, Tessa

Definitely Adeline. Or maybe Audra instead of Audrey? I think Alison is a bit dated.

Adeline may end up feeling dated with this generation of babies but I think Alison is somewhat dated with our generation (current teenagers through 30somethings?)

I like Audrey or Audra with Cora but if it's a definite no for your husband, I really like Cora and Alice!!! Alice Grace is a little weird with flow but not a deal breaker for me. I also love the suggestions of Lydia, Iris, Ivy, and Lucy.

Would you consider the name Alice? Alice is just perfect with Cora.

I prefer Adeline over Alison and Audrey. However, I'm with pps that Adeline might sound dated in a couple of years. Do you have any other options?

If I had to choose, I would go with Alison. But like everyone else, I really think either Audra or Alice work infinitely better. Or if your not stuck on "A" names, I really like the suggestions of Lucy, Ella or Lydia. And I know you said you're certain of Cora, but what about Clara? Clara and Lydia would make brilliant twin names.

  • Thanks a bunch for all the input! I totally get and agree that Addy is overdone.

I also like Alice, but in "Last of the Mohicans", the sisters are Cora and Alice, so that would be a little odd, plus our last name starts with S, so Alice or any other name ending in S would sound lispy paired with our last name. Lucy is super cute, but our last name also has the "ooh" sound in it, so that wouldn't sound great either. AND, I have a hang-up that I don't want all 3 daughters to have a name ending in "A"....I feel like one of the names needs a different ending. All these little disqualifications are making me crazy - and then you add in a picky husband too!!! I'll keep searching ;)

That's exactly what I was going to post.  Allison may be a tad dated, but it's nothing like Ashley or Amanda.  And I think that Adeline/Adalyn/etc are on track to be as dated as Ashley,  Amanda, etc.

Actually, I've read Last of the Mohicans. It was assigned reading at my high school. We also watched the movie in class. That said, I didn't make the connection. I got out of high school 14 years ago. I imagine that I would have made that connection if there had been twins named Cora and Alice at my high school, though.

  • I love them all!  Alison was one we took to the hospital last time so it's a front runner for me, Audrey is a favorite but I find there to be so many Aubrey's out there that it's almost to common. I think Cora and Alison sound very pretty together
