Hormone Levels

Hi! I am at 4w 6d and had my first ultrasound today. Early because I had a mc in October. The sac looked good and my doc was happy. Next ultrasound will be at 7w 4d.
My HCG is at 9,291. That seems high, yes? After some research, sounds like there are no issues with this, but I just wanted to see what others are experiencing.

Also, I am curious about the lack of symptoms. Not that I am complaining, but I feel like we all want them. Sounds like a lot of people out there don't really have any.

Cheers,
Courtney

Hi! Welcome and congratulations! Check out our pinned threads above (namely intros, the spreadsheet thread and the organization thread) there's lot of good info about the Jan 18 board. And jump in on the other threads as you see fit smile

If you search HCG levels you'll see at least one other thread where this has been discussed recently or feel free to check in on this week's symptoms thread.

  • Welcome! I hope you'll read the pinned posts at the top of the main page, introduce yourself in the intro thread, and stick around. Questions like this usually go in the weekly thread for questions and concerns,  so you may get more responses there.

I don't have any experience with early HCG draws. My doctors don't do them. But to answer your question about symptoms, it's still so early that it'll probably take a little longer to have obvious symptoms. I'm 6w 1d and still not nauseated. Just tired, bloated, and dealing with sore boobs. Oh, what fun!
  • I didn't have any significant symptoms with my first pregnancy. I think if your doctor is monitoring you, you should relax a little. Worrying doesn't prevent things from happening, it just prevents you from the joy of being pregnant :) good luck!
  • I'm not sure about hormone levels. My doctor never tells me on HCG. My progesterone levels were considered lower @ 10.1 so now I'm on progesterone to help out with that.

You might be a tad early for any strong symptoms. Maybe next week? With my son the only real symptoms I had was a little cramping around 5-7 weeks and then a little bit of nausea every once in a while. With my daughter, I got it all. Strangely enough I didn't get any morning sickness until probably 8 weeks but then it was horrible until about 14-16 weeks. And unbelievable indigestion from near the beginning. This time through I've had a little nausea starting close to 6 weeks, indigestion, and now at 7 the exhaustion is starting to set it.

I can understand wanting he symptoms though. It makes you feel like everything must be ok. I wouldn't worry though.

Mine was 9755, when I was within a few days of you.  I don't think it's a problem.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • AT 4w3d my HCG was 54 then at 5+0 my levels were 595. So my doubling time would be 595. My levels are on the lower end but doubling fine. I wouldn't worry about high levels !
