Hi Ladies!!
I just joined / this is my first time here. After 3 years of IF my DH and I are FINALLY SO EXCITED BE TO EXPECTING... We knew it was a possibility but can you imagine our shock when we went to the Fertility Clinic for our first scan (Tuesday - just under 7 wks) and saw not one but TWO little heartbeats!!!
So I was curious if any other Moms are expecting Twin's? Any mom's expecting Twins from IUI, too?
Looking forward to this adventure we are on. ![]()

@Cauleyflower - I did IUI so its a bit different... I had stimulated ovulation and then they transferred DH's sample into me.
When I went in for my pre trigger appointment they did show 2-3 eggs that were likely to ovulate.
I'm nervous because mine are sharing a gestational sac. More likely than not, we'll discover a membrane between them, but if not, they'll be momoamniotic, which is very high risk. I'm doing what I can to educate myself about it.
How are you feeling? I have tons of nausea, and I hear that nausea can be worse for twin mamas. I'm trying to push through it to eat, and stay hydrated and nourished.
I presume that since you did IUI, does your doctor think that you had two good eggs, and so they're probably fraternal? Ultimately, we won't know for sure unless we do genetic tests after they're born, but since mine share a sac, my doctor thinks one of our two transferred embryos (IVF) split, so mine will be identical.
7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

@KLake42 That's awesome!!! I loved seeing their little heartbeats - whats your EDD?
I'm feeling OKAY.. the nausea comes and goes... I have food aversions and just don't feel like eating - but I'm forcing myself to. Because of all the medications I had already gained weight so now my clothes are tight but I'm not ready to buy maternity clothes just yet. I keep looking to see when I might start showing
Yes, this was my second IUI - and I had 2 mature eggs on the left and 1 that was close on the right but only the left ended up ovulating so we know they will be fraternal.
Good luck - I'm so thankful to have someone to talk to / travel down this journey with since my husband doesn't quite get what I'm going through. Since I found out Tuesday I've been researching so much!

@Mudge85 If it turns out that your babies look a lot alike, think about getting their genetics tested. (It's getting so popular, that it should be pretty cheap eventually.) It's possible (unlikely, but possible) that only one of your eggs fertilized, and then split while still in the tube, and so they settled in different places in your uterus. But it's still a lot more common for twins to be fraternal, and since you know you had two eggs, it's the most likely scenario.
We actually thought we were going to have twins, when my HCG levels were high, and my nausea started so early. But we thought it was because we had transferred two embryos. It turned out that only one embryo survived.
Are you a first time mom, like me? I feel like we're going to be thrown into baby boot camp. Like, I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm going to have to learn real fast!
And hey, how soon do you think our bumps will show? I'm so bloated, I already had to buy new (loose) pants. No maternity pants yet, but I got a belly band so I could wear my work pants without buttoning the top button. I want to wait until 2nd trimester to tell everyone at work (I already told my boss), but I think I might have a belly before then.

@KLake42 - yes!!!! I will definitely have to mention that to my DH!
That's crazy how that worked out! What were your HCG Levels? I didn't think I was having twins just because mine were so low! I had my first HCG 15 days after my IUI (on a Friday) and it was 191. I was actually so concerned about the level not being higher and got kind of upset thinking there was no chance of multiples (I wanted twins!) My 2nd HCG was the following Monday and it was 890. I knew it jumped dramatically but didn't think anything of it being multiples because of the first.
I see you just had a birthday in April - I did too - so many good vibes for me in April - my birthday and our wedding anniversary.
Oh yes!! definitely feel like it's going to be a whirlwind! I am researching the crap out of everything - I know I'm annoying my mom because I keep telling her "I read this, I read that..." but I've waited so long for this that I am way too excited - we started "not preventing" in June of 2014 and then actively TTC in October 2014 and finally saw a fertility specialist in September of 2016 and agreed to start in early 2017 - so we did the rest of the testing and what not and were able to have our first cycle in March.
I don't know, I hope we show soon because I am already bloated and really just want to look pregnant and not fat :-p Although, I don't really want to start showing only because I don't want to be forced to tell my boss before about 11-12 weeks... He will understand because he has 4 kids but I only started here in December... One of my coworkers knows because she's pregnant with a singleton and currently 25 weeks so I've been talking to her / asking her tons of questions!
So I started only a little higher than you, but for both of us, we more than doubled every 48 hours. That's neat!
I did fertility treatments for 2 years before getting here, a bunch of IUIs, and two cancelled IVFs. This IVF worked because I gave up on using my own ovaries, and my wife provided the eggs.
I love the idea of two healthy babies, but I'm kind of intimidated by the risks of the twin pregnancy. And I'm sad that I won't have the chance for a natural delivery with a midwife at home (which was a dream for a long time), but I'll get over it.

I've had several twin mamas recommend a book, When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads, by Luke, Eberlein, and Newman. So I just got my copy. They are serious about recommending that we gain weight (with all sorts of charts for determining how much weight to gain). I'm overweight to start, but I should be aiming for a 10 pound gain by 10 weeks, and I've only gained 2 so far. And I'm way nauseated! But the book seems to have a lot of good info.

@Klake42 10 lbs by week 10!! holy moly!!! I had no idea!!!
I knew the weight gain for twins was significant but I didn't realize it was that much.
They still don't want you to go over the weight gain goals (mine is 50 pounds, since I have twins and I'm starting with a higher BMI), and they don't want you relying on junk food/sugar to get there. But I have feeling that Ensure will be in my future.
