Re: Weekly Randoms May 15

  • @klink15 DH always finds me to be super sexy when I'm pregnant too. It definitely gives me a little confidence boost, because I feel anything but sometimes with a constantly changing body. That's so sweet of him that he's afraid to hurt you, but I think you should definitely encourage him that it's totally ok  ;) haha!

@TeacherMama7 no we haven't been through labor before. He went through it 3 times with his ex and says it was gross and he doesn't want to have to see that again... so I don't know what that means really...
@KLink15 @ugoglencoco I think DH finds me more sttravtive now too. I recently lost a ton of weight and was really upset when he was so responsive or happy about my new body as much as I was. Now he seems interested again and i think it's because I'm putting on weight. Not sure how I actually feel about it because I do intend to get back to healthy after baby is born.

So random but I'm just desperately waiting for someone else to start the ticker day thread because I can't think of a good GTKY

DS woke up and threw up this morning, but luckily has seemed ok since. I'm hoping it doesn't turn to excessive pooping because of course today is the day he decides he doesn't want to wear a diaper but wants actual underwear on. The 2yo independent steak is killing me today.

I'm hoping the throwing up was just because DH fed him a LOT of McDonald's last night for dinner. Complete with cookies and juice.

Well DS definitely a stomach bug. He still hasn't kept anything down. Countdown is on until it hits me...

also, stomach bugs make so much laundry! I've had the washer going all day.
  • @BayCamp Oh no! I was hoping it would be an isolated incident for you.  :(

@ooodalollly these things always have the worst timing. I had to call out of a $100 shift tonight.  And it's so awful seeing your baby sick  :'(

@cmessamore Go little early walker! So glad your DH got to see it as well!
  • DS3 took his first real steps!!!! And DH and I were both home to see it!!!! He's just over 9 months!!!!
    That's awesome  :)
  • Sick all day.  Please give me a break and let me feel better. I hate this so much. Sorry to complain.
  • SOs Aunt and Uncle are in town visiting from out of state. His aunt asked if we were going to try for a boy (they don't know we are expecting) and his uncle quickly said, "you don't need anymore kids". It was awkward. We only have two right now so one more still isn't a ton of kids but he comes from a family where they all only have 2 kids and he himself never had any.

@ugoglencoco oh trust me I definitely encouraged him, I explained the only concern is the whole eventually not being able to stay on my back too long. I think he was quite happy to hear that! ;)

@klink15 DH said that once he can feel the baby move we won't have sex anymore lol. Thankfully I have a perfectly healthy pregnancy so far and no reason to not have sex because it feels a lot more intense but I get tired/done faster. The only think I don't like about pregnancy sex so far is when I'm on my back I can see my belly jiggle a lot.

  • DH officially shared his cold with me.  I feel like crap. And my cat started peeing again outside the box...all over our finished basement, throw pillows and couch. Spent all day cleaning. This has been an ongoing problem for 9 months now. We have tried everything,  including a $400 vet bill which found nothing wrong except he is old. I'm so upset, we have had him for 17 years and I don't know what to do.  I do know I can't be having him pee all over when the baby comes.  We have another cat as well but I'm 90% sure it's not her.

  • @BayCamp. I hope your son feels better quickly!
@lancomechica2  I hope you feel better quickly too!
@cmessamore  First steps are so exciting! And so early too!
I have a cold and being in the heat all day at work makes it 10x worse. I spent all day trying not to throw up. My essential oils help a little bit but I really just want to sleep.
  • So much sickness going around! I hope you all feel better soon!!!!

  • @jess0211 I had an older cat that did that too. The only thing I found that helped was moving the litter box to where she was peeing the most. I then slowly over a week moved it to a more ideal location. Even then, she sometimes would make it in the litter box but manange to pee outside of it. For that, I put an old towel under the box and changed it about once a day and wet swiffered the area when I noticed it was wet. I hope that helps.
  • @jess0211 That's super frustrating!  I have one cat that will pee right in front of her litterbox when she's angry about something. I keep puppy pads in that spot just in case. They do make things you can spray and outlet things that are supposed to help. Maybe you can try something like that.
  • @jess0211 that's so frustrating! I hope he stops soon or one of the suggestions these ladies gave helps.

  • I did not know where to post this but thought this article was pretty cool. I've never labored or given birth naturally and will have a planned c-sec again but giving birth naturally always intrigues me.

@ShePersisted although some of those women I think are being a tad over dramatic a lot of that had some truth to it. Especially the Ring of Fire and the intense high afterwards. One of my few coherent thoughts I remember from his birth was clearly thinking "oh THAT'S why they call it the Ring of Fire. How accurate."

And honestly it might have felt every bit of bone ripping pain that they described and I could have just blocked it out. The instant he was born I couldn't clearly remember the pain I was just in moments before. The mind-body connection is weird.

@ShePersisted some of those stories actually made me laugh out loud...like the one from the lady who threw her ice at the nurse!  Definitely dramatic, haha.  It is interesting to read all the different experiences and interpretations of the pain.  How some say they would absolutely do it again med-free and others say no way. Everyone, and every experience, is so different!

  • Agree @BayCamp and @liz4382. I thought it was interesting as the article interviewed many women and thus the different perspective. Frankly one can never predict what kind of birthing exp you'd have unless you go through it and then you can write a novel about it.
  • I liked this. Not the best or only advice I'd give to myself as a FTM, but still true and worth reading if you like this sort of thing.

@MississippiCatfish  I never even thought of doing something like this but it's totally applicable to me now. Going to try to find my two things!
  • @dragonfly87-2 You'll use them all plus more in less than a year. They're good for lots of things - not just baby butts!!
  • @baby3forme: That's good to know. For the price we paid, I won't feel too guilty for using them for all kinds of things!
  • @dragonfly87-2 Huggies wipes are by far my favorite brand too. We buy the one and done.
  • bcashawbcashaw member
@dragonfly87-2 huggies are my fave brand of wipes they're the best. And you probably got the ones that come with a travel case included which is a total lifesaver. I'm dying to use up the box is wipes we have so I can go buy some more and get the travel case again.  Also I use baby wipes for literally everything (honestly the best makeup remover)
  • @bcashaw As I was reading it, I wasn't sure if I really agreed and then I realized - getting out of the house is TOTALLY one of those things for me. Yep, it's an extra degree of work when baby is still little, but I go crazy when I'm home ALL day! I haven't thought of another one yet.

@MississippiCatfish the gym is probably up there for me. I was going 5 days a week at least before we got my step kids full time. And I was doing home workouts at least 3 times a week before I got pregnant.
  • @dragonfly87-2 we always have adult flushable wipes around and even THOSE I use for other things. They are weirdly good at getting stains out of fabric. I spilled cranberry juice on our beige fabric bed frame once and a combination of shout and those wipes left zero stains. Yesterday I dropped my fork full of Chinese food on our light blue couch and again, wipes = no stain. Amazing! I've used Huggies to get stains out of things previously too haha.
