This goes along with what others seem to have more time to point out below. Children shouldn't go without food because of a parent's drug use. I also think that drug users should receive rehabilitation rather than be incarcerated for long sentences taking them away from their families. I have seen too many people in my life negatively effected by drugs then completely ostracized by society when they need help and compassion.

And yes, the states that have begun drug testing have shown that the vast majority of individuals on public assistance are not drug users. My home state included. So let's stop spending money on drug tests and instead funnel those funds to programs that help people.

Like I said, I would rather spend the money and know that it goes to help someone than have it be wasted on a drug test. Even if someone is on drugs, they and their family deserve to eat.

You're quoting a post from a news paper known for being far left. And I fail to see how requiring an ID is a racist request.

This is true, but I was more looking at the quotes in the article from the actual judges involved in the case.

I think those who are for drug testing are forgetting who is supposed to benefit from the assistance....children. So say a mother smokes weed and now becomes ineligible for aid, then her children suffer because she can't pass a drug test.

As mentioned above, states that have enacted drug testing for welfare recipients have actually been less than anticipated and the cost spent to do the drug testing wasn't worth it to catch the few abusing.

You probably have and just don't know it. I didn't feel them with my first at all. Then during a fundal measurement my midwife mentioned I was having one. Lol after that I realized I had a ton. This time I have tons and now they are annoying and make me dizzy and my head hurt.

I'm learning so much about drug testing and gov't aid. Before, all I would ask is that those on aid not buy those expensive ass party platters that I cannot afford. It's a slap in the face as I take my carrots and celery sticks home to cut up for a party because party platters are out of my budget #teampetty

Parents with known drug problems frequently have their children removed from their care, so theoretically the children would be better cared for by someone else.

I'm 100% for drug testing. If someone is honestly going through a rough time, I'm happy to help. If you are creating your own rough time, I'm not so willing. I do not wish to be an enabler.

Also, my personal experience is that my cousin has a drug problem, and was (probably still is) on government assistance. All 3 of his kids have severe emotional problems from what they went through with him and one now has permanent brain damage. So yeah, if he'd been drug tested, his kids could have been placed in a safe environment much sooner.

I'm not forgetting it all. I just don't believe it's that perfect. Are we really supposed to believe those parents are spending the money on the kid's food? Every single teacher friend I have, talks so much about wanting better food programs at school because that's the only time kids are going to eat. Am I really supposed to believe that drug addicted parent is using their money only for their kids to eat?

And the whole argument that it's an illness and siocety has failed and it's our fault pisses me off. First of all addiction is an illness, NOT THE ACT OF USING DRUGS! If I say the person failed in the first place by starting drugs, I'm a douche. But society can blamed for him starting, ruining their own life, and now societies fault for not feeding him either. At what point do we start holding people responsible for their own actions??

I think y'all need to do some research on the subject matter. I think you all have a preconceived idea of those who actually receive welfare. Spoiler: they aren't all drug abusing, Escalade-driving, iPhone-owning, LV bag carriers. Are there people that abuse the system? Sure.

I'm less concerned about my tax dollars being abused by welfare recipients than I am about my tax dollars being wasted by waging wars on foreign countries and shit.

Not true. I work for the government and get tested all the time and it's not because they want to fire me or I'm acting crazy at work.

My views come from personal experience and research. I'm well aware it isn't all of what you mentioned, and you need to do the same.

My time in the military was the only time I have ever been drug tested. I currently work for the government and was not tested prior to being hired, nor since I've been hired.

Agree. The majority of those getting help, need help, and you can't judge a book by its cover, maybe the iPhone was a gift ya know?
Also, the whole addiction is an illness thing... yes it is. One that can be treated with a lot of work. You can overcome it. You need a reason to, whether it's for yourself, your kids, or something else. I personally know someone that was on drugs when she got pregnant. As soon as she found out she stopped taking them and now it's been 4 years. She found her reason to stop and did. I doubt it was easy for her, but she did it. I really don't think their is an excuse for drug addicts, or alhoholics who use their last bit of money for their fix instead of their kids. Their kids are better off without them. But then the foster care system is pretty messed up too...

My FFFC is that I am currently hating that we have 2 bathrooms in our house and both of them involve using stairs to get to them.
This could also be confessing that I am being extremely lazy tonight. I even convinced DH to do bedtime even though it's my turn!!!

If you are dilated at all then you are having them even if you can't feel them. I am 1 cm and not feeling them. Yay progress with no pain.

I haven't felt any of mine except if I actually poke my belly and feel the tightness. My midwives say it's common for them to be painless. Sometimes, at the beginning, I feel something that sort of feels like baby movement but slightly off, and I think that might be the tightening.

It's hard to tell, too, because my belly will feel the same hardness when the baby is pushing out there.

I feel your pain. Last night I was looking again thinking another name might be better. I hate being indecisive but it always seems to happen. My husband still really likes our name so IDK.
