I am most nervous that something that big is going to come out of my hooha. Im scared to death. Yes I know woman have been having babies since the beginning of time but it still freaks me out. My poor hooha
I am most excited to find out if Im having a girl or a boy
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? No appointments yet
Cravings? I had a weird craving for a smoothie last night. I was literally thinking about having one for hours. It was seriously the most satisfying thing when DH and I finally went and got one lol.
Rants/Raves? Just the usual complaints about bloating and exhaustion.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Not this week.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I'm nervous about being a good mom and working full time. I am the main bread winner, so I have to continue to work, plus I actually really like working so I would never want to be a SAHM. However, it does raises some concerns in my head as I'm worried I won't be able to develop a close relationship with my baby since I won't be around them as much. I'm excited about all the little things, like the first time they talk, or walk, and just being around them, and watching them grow.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? -First appointment was last week, they confirmed the pregnancy, got some background info from me, and I go back in 3 weeks! I was given homework, gotta go to the hospital and get some bloodwork done.
Cravings? -Nothing too notable so far. Mostly fruit, lots of berries. Eating lots of sour patch kids, but I LOVE sour candies so this is totally normal for me.
Rants/Raves? -I've actually been in a pretty stable mood, but OH MAN my back has been hurting! Just on one side. Mostly noticeable at night.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Is everyone this terrified? Haha I feel crazy for worrying about everything, my anxiety is kicking into high gear.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? -I'm afraid I won't be able to know what baby wants or needs! Finances, tearing while giving birth, all of this can be so scary! But we are so excited to bring someone new into our lives, something that is half of each of us and made with love! People keep telling us, "I can't wait to see you two as parents. Your kid will be so cool!" Fun to hear, but I am a Capricorn and DH is a Sagittarius so it will be interesting for sure! We balance eachother out pretty well.
@darkrose88 oh no How did that thought not cross my mind? I am also the main income source for my household as DH is a student. I've been worried about how long it will take for me to be able to get back to work, 1 week? 2 weeks? I hadnt even thought about all the firsts I will probably miss Now I feel bad. Luckily I think I will be bringing baby to work with me when DH has classes on campus.
Nope, we have two more weeks until our first appointment.
Cravings?
No real cravings but I've been eating a lot of mac and cheese. Blue box, baby!
Rants/Raves?
I'm just so tired. I just want one night where I sleep through the night. JUST ONE.
Questions for FTM, STM+? None yet.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? Honestly, right now I'm most excited and most nervous about our first appointment. I'm an anxious person to begin with so right now I have all of these worst case scenarios in my mind and I just need to see this little speck to actually let myself get excited!
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Nope, not until May 25th
Cravings? Eggs, but I can't eat them because they trigger my IBS. Also chicken fingers! Yum!
Rants/Raves? Getting freaked out it either is an ectopic pregnancy or a blighted ovum, so I need to think more positively. Also, I have this cold and I hate having colds especially when I can't take anything for the symptoms. It makes me wish I wasn't pregnant, but then I feel really quilty for having that thought and want to cry. What a rollercoaster in my head! I just hope having a cold doesn't hurt the baby...
Questions for FTM, STM+? So I didn't know until someone posted it recently that cat seats expire...? What's the deal with that? I was planning on reusing car seats for subsequent kids... I'm going to have to do more research into this.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I'm actually really nervous about what we're going to do about childcare once I go back to work, and since I don't know what my job's maternity leave looks like and asking HR will look very suspicious at this point, all I can do is sit here and worry and speculate...Sigh...
Last week I had my first u/s where we saw the gestational sac and yolk sac. This Thursday I have a second u/s to check for the heartbeat. Thursday cannot come soon enough!
Cravings? I haven't had much of an appetite lately actually.
Rants/Raves? Still super nervous. I've never suffered a MC or MMC so I have no reason to believe I might have one. But I know anything is possible. I'm also a little tweaked that my symptoms went away, but it seems they've been replaced with different ones as of yesterday/today. So it's easing my mind.
Questions for FTM, STM+?
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I just hope my child feels as much love from me as I did from my Mom. I am super excited to see my H as a Dad. Swoon. I'm also just excited to bring a child into this world to shape and love.
Questions for FTM, STM+? So I didn't know until someone posted it recently that cat seats expire...? What's the deal with that? I was planning on reusing car seats for subsequent kids... I'm going to have to do more research into this.
@gilsam1 Yes, car seats expire, and it's usually 6 years from date of manufacture. DD was born in 2014 and we're using her car seat for this LO.
@gilsam1 You could ask your HR department for a handbook. You can say you are looking into planning some vacations and would like to see what days are considered holidays and how much PTO the company offers etc.
@miranda21037 The actual birthing part was always my greatest fear in getting pregnant. I think I am going to need the epidural...
@makstew Re: is everyone this terrified? *raises hand* I am.
How far along are you? 4 weeks today
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I had my blood draw for my first beta today and have another on Thursday.
Cravings? I have very little appetite today. I think I could go for a milkshake, though every time I start eating today I immediately want to stop and feel slightly nauseous all the time.
Rants/Raves? MH has been really sweet and fixing things around the house since we learned the news on Sunday. He also is going to make dinner tonight because I told him I'm having a complicated relationship with food.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Not at the moment - every time I have a question I ask Dr. Google.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? Right now my biggest anxiety, and it is consuming my thoughts like, all the time, is whether this pregnancy is healthy. I will hopefully feel better about it after the bw results on Thursday. I think I'm most excited to tell my family - but I also feel like I want to wait until after our first us which will be around 8 weeks.
@makstew Perhaps not everyone… but I think most FTMs/all
pregnant women are terrified this early. I’m a STM and dealing with really
severe anxiety right now. It might not seem like it, but it will get better,
especially when you feel them move. And if your anxiety is about labor, I
promise, you’ll be fine… I knew I wanted to have a second 10 minutes after DD
was born, and that was after 37+ hours of labor an episiotomy, a 4th
degree tear, and forceps going in my vagina to grab the baby . The tearing
is insane in a GOOD way… it heals PERFECTLY. I have no words! I wouldn’t have believed it if
it had not happened to me. In six weeks to the day, I was as good as new and my
tear was no joke.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? i have my first one Monday! I can't wait. Did anyone bring their husbands? Mine isn't sure if he should go.
Cravings? Nope!
Rants/Raves? It's so hard trying to hide my pregnancy! I have so much anxiety about people finding out earlier than I want them to. I want to be able to tell people in a fun way!
Questions for FTM, STM+? When didn't you tell your family you were expecting? I'm going on vacation with them in a few weeks and I know they'll be onto me if I don't drink AGAIN!
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I'm so excited to have kids of my own. I'm nervous about the delivery and getting varicose veins since my mom has them.
@michwich-2 Well, I'm going to call and ask if they are going to do an ultrasound at my appointment because if they are I'm going to have DH come. If it's just a regular doctor appointment then he can wait till the ultrasound, if i were him I wouldn't want to sit through a regular appointment, especially with a pelvic exam, unless I got to see the baby
@michwich-2 - My first appointment is two parts: first the ultrasound and then the appointment with the doctor (but no pelvic at this one). DH is going to come for the ultrasound and then head back to work and I'll handle the second part on my own.
I feel like whining his morning lol. I have no energy and I freaking hate it. I am getting so little done at work because I feel so lazy. I feel exhausted. After a bout of activity everything hurts and I want to lie down. Maybe I can join the kindergarten students for nap time?
How far along are you? 7 weeks - But will find out for sure at my dating u/s today!
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? This afternoon
Cravings? Salty stuff, chips, etc.
Rants/Raves? Rave: I am so excited/nervous for my appt. today- hoping all is well! Rant: I had to tell a few people at work I was pregnant due to an aspect of patient care and I really wanted to wait a little longer to make sure things are okay. I know that it will probably be passed through the grapevine now.
Questions for FTM, STM+? I need to write them down so I remember when it comes to these...
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I can't wait to hold this LO in my arms. I am nervous because DH and I will be moving a few times in the next year because of his job. I will be switching jobs at 22 weeks, etc. Trying to just go with the flow!
@makstew STM here and I'm still a little terrified! Like @EmilyLove25 said, once you start to feel them move, things get a little easier. And as far as labor/birth goes, just know that things probably won't go exactly the way you plan! I was induced at 39 weeks and was in labor for about 36 hours with all the drugs, pushed for 3 hours, had a 2nd degree tear, but still knew that I wanted another after a few weeks!
@gilsam1 unfortunately car seats do expire-the seat should have the date somewhere on it, or you can check your handbook. Ours expires 5 years from manufacturer date (we have Graco).
@michwich-2 with DD, we told family at 8 weeks, everyone else after 1st tri. This time, we told family at 5 weeks since I'm already not feeling well and don't want to keep coming up with excuses if I need MIL to watch her if I'm feeling too sick! We still won't announce to the world until after 1st tri.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? No, not until June 2.
Cravings? I craved avocados today yummy!!!
Rants/Raves? Bloating and gas,
Questions for FTM, STM+? not yet, but I'm sure they will come soon!
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I'm nervous about the aches and pains of pregnancy. I'm not really sure what to expect. I don't have nausea yet (knock-on-wood) but I'm nervous about having it while at work. I'm most excited about having a LO and growing our family, and seeing my husband as a father. I can't wait to be a mom!!!
Questions for FTM, STM+? Is everyone this terrified? Haha I feel crazy for worrying about everything, my anxiety is kicking into high gear.
Yes, and it's not just a FTM thing. As a FTM I was terrified of the entire process, but the birth most of all. Once baby was here I was able to relax. Now I'm a STM and terrified all over again, but birth less so. I'm more worried about what happens with DS when LO comes home!
Ok - I do have a question for STMs or FTMs now - how did you choose your obstetrician? Did you look at reviews, ask women with babies for recommendations, do other things I haven't thought of?
My current OBGYN is currently out of network for my insurance and the midwife at their practice has been seeing me but now with this not calling me with test results nonsense I think I just need to find an entirely new practice and I'm not really sure what to go on.
Ok - I do have a question for STMs or FTMs now - how did you choose your obstetrician? Did you look at reviews, ask women with babies for recommendations, do other things I haven't thought of?
@Zamora_spin I asked for recommendations, and also chose based on where I wanted to deliver. If you have a particular hospital, they usually have a list of associated OBs.

@zamora_spin, I chose a midwifery practice that a number of people I know have used and that my gyn recommended (since she knows I would not like a hospital birth).

How far along are you? 3 weeks 6 days (super early!)
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I met with my fertility dr today - an appt I had scheduled before I got my BFP. We did more bloodwork to test pro and est so I should get those numbers tomorrow
Cravings? nothing out of the norm
Rants/Raves? Nervous - this is 7 weeks post MC for me
Questions for FTM, STM+? not yet!
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? Time!
How far along are you? I think I'm right around 4w 4d, but tomorrow after my 2nd beta draw hopefully they schedule my first OBUS so we can take a look and know for sure
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
So far I've just had 1 beta draw. The only time a phlebotomist has had a problem with my vein. My arm is still black and blue from where she was stabbing me and wiggling it around yesterday. Tomorrow I have a 2nd beta draw and then FX either tomorrow or Friday they'll call me in for an US. Otherwise my nurse says it should be early next week.
Cravings?
Nothing in particular.
Rants/Raves?
Raves: I just bought the cutest mug for my friend yesterday off of etsy. I'm super excited for it to get here. She just graduated (this weekend), her grandma just died (yesterday) and she has a really important job interview (Monday) so DH thought I should wait like a week to tell her. She drinks coffee and/or tea almost every day so I know she'll use it. I was thinking about offering to take her out for dinner after her job interview on Monday and giving it to her then.
Rant: My only real side effect so far is that my boobs have been super sore the past few weeks I hope that doesn't last for the next 36-ish weeks. Oh, and I'm pretty sure I was nauseous ALL DAY on implantation day, but I guess we'll have better idea after the US if the timeframe correlates.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Not yet.
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about?
I'm a bit nervous about the idea of MC. We'd been trying just shy of 2 years I'd would be devastated by a loss at this point and starting over. My sister and friend both had MCs a few years back so I'm selfishly hoping that since I have 2 people close to me that it's happened to that I can stay out of that 1 in 3 statistic.
I'm super excited for my parents to be grandparents. I'm hoping we can tell our parents around father's day. My brother & his wife are also TTC (they aren't PG yet but he just started a round of Clomid) so my parents will have their first 2 bio-grandkids soon. I also have 2 stepkids, and while I have an awesome relationship with them they just have never had that same kind of relationship with my folks.
Everything else is just still sinking in. I think about it ALL DAY and its definitely been affecting my choices daily since we found out, but it hasn't quite set in for me that in January we'll have +1. We haven't told anyone yet, so I have to constantly stop myself from wanting to blurt out "I'm pregnant" "We're pregnant" "Yay Baby!"
@WildMagelet I love that Mug and I think she'll love it!
I'm with you, I want to shout it to the world but last time I did that, it ended badly. I jumped the gun. We told my DSS and he was all excited and went to school and told everybody. I forget it's hard to explain to a 6 year old what happened to the baby. His little brother or sister. I felt awful. So I'm patiently waiting and going to tell everyone with an US. I just don't know if I can wait that long. ahhhhh...
Yeah. I catch myself wanting to say it constantly. My friend the mug is for is the shoulder I'd be leaning on if something bad were to happen, so the sooner I tell her the better But my mug shipped today, so hopefully it's here ASAP and I can insist we get together At least I'll have someone to gush with when DH isn't available for it, haha
we had the ultrasound on Tuesday. Saw a big strong heartbeat - I started crying because of course I did.
Cravings?
Uh no. I actually find the thought of most food repulsive right now. I've lost 6 pounds in the 3 weeks since I found out I was pregnant (which is fine because I'm obese anyway).
Rants/Raves? I've been awful to my husband. He's wonderful and I'm getting annoyed with him for the stupidest crap imaginable.
Questions for FTM, STM+?
Is it normal to be this freaked out?
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I'm old! I'll be 37 when the baby is born. I'll be 60 with a kid in college. Oh, by the way - college. Holy crap is that going to be expensive. I started a college fund last week because I like to plan. I'm worried the baby will have some terrible, painful genetic defects or something and die a painful death. I'm worried about raising a teenager. I'm worried because I don't have enough leave on the books for a full 12 weeks of paid leave (I'm a federal employee too, sigh).
I'm excited to have a kid. Babies aren't that exciting to me (sorry) but from 3-11? Those are fun years. They ask so many questions and have such an interesting perspective and are silly and fun. I can't wait for that. Teenagers though? Eep.
@caeilievalor STM here. I'm doing maternity photos with DD this time around. I didn't get any photos when I was pregnant the first time and I really regret it. DH is not into pictures and I didn't push it. I don't care if he's in these -- I'll just do them with DD lol
@caeilievalor STM here and I love @missblaze comment re: maternity photos. I took pictures of myself with my iphone but I wish I had had semi professional ones done. And on that note, just indulge yourself in the experience... every single day you are pregnant is a miracle... is a gift and is amazing. It is the most profound experience of my life, and this time I will not take a single day of it for granted! Get those pregnancy massages! Talk about it as much as you want! Love yourself!
@missblaze and @EmilyLove25 Great advice, thank you!!! I found a girl in my area named Kelly Kristine on Facebook who does STUNNING newborn photography. She also does maternity and family photos. She has a package for maternity, newborn and one-year-old for $1000 which seems super pricey, but she's very talented. She's the only one I've priced so far. Does that seem outrageous to you guys? You can look her up too and see how pro this girl is.
@caeilievalor I'd ask what the package includes. I've definitely seen maternity photo packages cost a few hundred so three separate sessions for $1000 may not be too pricey. I'd want to see if a disk of all shots is included, how many prints, how many poses, etc. And then price compare with other photographers in your area.
@caeilievalor No that doesn't seem outrageous... I mean, okay, yes, paying $1000 for photos in of itself seems outrageous... but they are usually $300+ a session, so $1000 likely will end up being a good deal. I totally agree though, make sure that includes digital access to ALL of the pictures!
@caeilievalor as a STM I agree with the other ladies in regards to pictures. I definitely regret not getting more professional newborn photos done. I am going to try a little harder this time. The first thing that I thought of when I read your question though, was I wish I had packed my hospital bag when everyone suggested I should. My son came 3 weeks and 2 days early. I had not packed a single thing and packing while leaking amniotic fluid, managing a crazy DH and having contractions did not make for a well packed bag. I regret this more than not having daycare lined up yet. Any time you tell yourself, "I got plenty of time." Just forget that excuse and do it.
Hi there... I just intro'd so I hope its OK if I just jump right in...
How far along are you? 6 + 1
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? First appt is June 6
Cravings? not really
Rants/Raves? I was staring at DH's head the other night and I was not pleased. He has a BIG head.
Questions for FTM, STM+? SO many...but I will hold off
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I am a control freak so the fact that I am giving up control completely and I have no idea where to even start to feel prepared has me completely overwhelmed. But I am excited for the little munchkin.
Me 30 DH 36 Married 9/26/15 TTC 2/10/17 - BFP 5/5/17 - EDD 1/11/18
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Had my third beta this past Wednesday (2581 at 19dpo), and have my first ultrasound and an appointment with my RE coming on Friday 5/26
Cravings? Not really. My appetite is normal until about mid-day, and then it nosedives and nothing sounds good.
Rants/Raves? I'm having a really hard time relating to all the excitement people are expressing. I've had two losses and I'm just going back and forth between disbelief, anxiety, panic, and relatively few moments of calm. Right now I'm mostly calm so I'm trying to embrace it while I can.
Questions for FTM, STM+?
Not right now
GTKY: What are you most nervous about for being a FTM? What are you most excited about? I haven't thought that far, I'm most nervous about having another loss.

I just don't know if I can wait that long. ahhhhh...
*welcome!*
Yeah. I catch myself wanting to say it constantly. My friend the mug is for is the shoulder I'd be leaning on if something bad were to happen, so the sooner I tell her the better

I've been awful to my husband. He's wonderful and I'm getting annoyed with him for the stupidest crap imaginable.
Eep.

Yep, but just with my general practitioner about feeling faint/dizzy and she ordered an US. She said eat and drink more and the US looked fine.
Cheese burgers and Mexican food...mmmm
So little energy!!! I just want to lay down all day.
STM's - what's something you did/are doing in later pregnancies that you wish you did in your first?
I'm nervous about having enough space. DH and I need to get a house big enough for all of us. I'm most excited about snuggling.

Had my third beta this past Wednesday (2581 at 19dpo), and have my first ultrasound and an appointment with my RE coming on Friday 5/26
Not really. My appetite is normal until about mid-day, and then it nosedives and nothing sounds good.
I'm having a really hard time relating to all the excitement people are expressing. I've had two losses and I'm just going back and forth between disbelief, anxiety, panic, and relatively few moments of calm. Right now I'm mostly calm so I'm trying to embrace it while I can.
I haven't thought that far, I'm most nervous about having another loss.
