I'm doing NOTHING at work and aside from Monday it looks like I'll be doing nothing next week either... I work an hour from home too, so here I am, wasting time. There is literally no reason for our department to work during these two weeks (between the end of the semester/grade reports and orientation/summer sessions starting), but I don't want to waste vacation days. Honestly though, I'm gong to have to... I can only read pregnancy websites for so long (and that is actually a long time, but my limit is being tested).
I DO have work to do, @EmilyLove25. A ton of grading, curriculum to build, emails to respond to...but I'm doing NONE of it. I'm usually pretty on top of things, but since I got this BFP, I can't focus on anything other than baby. My students keep asking me when their project will be graded, and I keep saying, "soon." I haven't even started grading them. I'm going to regret this when I'm up to my eyeballs in grading come finals...
Confession: I'm going to wear as many layers of clothing as possible to my first appointment and weigh-in. So that later in pregnancy, when I wear little sundresses to the doctor's office, she'll be like, "Wow, you definitely aren't gaining weight too fast! Good for you!"
I really want a drink. I of course wont. But man I want one bad. Its hot out, my drink this summer was going to be gin and cranberry :'( Instead Im forcing 72 ounces of water in my body everyday. yuck
@miranda21037 I am right there with you! This super hot weather in the NE is making me long for a giant glass of rosé! Especially since we haven't told people yet, the beginning of the summer will be brutal
@burnsmommy27 Do it! Sandals with thick heavy wooden soles... A totally unnecessary cardigan... It all leads to a Doctor who doesn't nag you about weight during the second trimester!
I actually got the idea from a midwife, during my first pregnancy. She joked with me that the heavy boots I wore to my first appointment in November would make my weight gain look good later, when I was wearing spring and summer clothes.
Well shoot, @PleaseSendPicklesNow! Where were you two weeks ago when I had my first appointment? I could've used that! Although, I'm pretty sure it was pretty warm when I had my appointment, so a lot of extra layers would have been highly suspicious.
My first appointment I didn't know if they were going to need a urine sample. So I had a full bladder and heavy work clothes on. My next appointment was a dress, empty bladder and sandals. In two weeks I had "lost" four lbs lol
My confession is that I'm spending around $30-40 on food per day. Not because I'm eating a lot, but because I go grocery shopping, pack/cook my food and then don't want it. And HAVE to have one specific other thing (cheeseburger, ricotta cheese, Mexican food, etc.) I go and buy it, but then I eat about 5 bites and don't want it anymore. And...repeat every 2-3 hours.
I will continue to be the noisiest and most body positive person in the room, annoyingly so, all the time. I think you (yes, you; definitely you; absolutely you too; EVERYONE) is just a marvel to behold, with a great body that works hard and serves them well.
Anyway, I feel like a potato. I'm bloated, I'd already gained weight since I started school last fall, and I feel like I'm going to continue to struggle with my body this pregnancy. I'm already overweight, and the spectre of regaining the 100 pounds I've lost will basically probably always haunt me. And that sucks because I know none of that shit matters and that gaining weight does not negate my worth. It's a struggle to undo a lot of internalized shit about weight.
Also I want a beer so effin' bad. Summer beer is the best beer.
Today I sent two student worker applications to the bottom of the pile because they had speshul name spellings. This is largely in part to the fact that we had to fire three in the course of the year because they didn't understand it was a job and all of them had speshully spelled names. So no, Bryttniee, I won't be calling you for an interview, at least not on first choice.
I almost spilled the beans about my bffs bfp to a mutual friend! Good thing it was via text because I caught myself and deleted it. She's telling her when the three of us go to lunch this weekend and I'm going to surprise both of them that I'm prego too! Eat all the cookies @madcouplewithabox! I would... I had so much work to do this week and I was so distracted that I only did real work on Monday and today (but today we left early because it's a long weekend). Also, I was kinda upset that my lunch crew at work wanted to go out to eat knowing that I couldn't so I ate at my desk and it sucked...but I got lots of work done
@jurassicsnark - I totally want my future child to have a y in their name, I guess they might also get disqualified. They can change their name once they are 18...
The day before finding out about this pregnancy, we had JUST discovered our favorite Georgia beer is now available in the Jersey area. You know I'm craving it hardcore now!!
