  • @ShePersisted that gif is how I feel on the daily. My pants technically "fit", they just don't button...or zip all the way. I'm over it, bring on warm weather for dresses.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge my dresses don't fit like they should, even the ones with flair. I have an odd bulge right above my pubic bone. I have maternity pants but I'm just not ready to wear them just yet. Not sure why. I probably just should.

My SIL warned me that my MIL had certain 'expectations' for the birth of my baby, and that I should address it now to nip it in the bud. I didn't fully realise how serious she was. DH and I spoke to his mum on the phone last night, and he told her that we do not want her (or anyone) at the birth as it will be private; just us. And that we don't want any visitors in the first week either. So she's welcome to fly down to us anytime after the first week. And she cried on the phone ;(;(;( I feel so guilty cos she just loves the baby so much already and wants to be involved! But at the same time I do not want to be playing host when my bub is due (nor do I want anyone in my birth in room). Sigh:( people crying is my kryptonite.

@ss145 I had that talk with our parents right away. Thankfully no one was upset about it but I was firm that if they come to visit it's one set of parents at a time and they're helping out.

DH and I went around to change our move out date. Thankfully we no longer have to be in a hotel for 3 weeks, saving us a few hundred in pet sitter fees since the Army doesn't reimburse you for that. We did just spend the whole weekend cleaning and throwing food out/giving it away because we were supposed to move out tomorrow so we have nothing to eat in the house now. Thankfully a 7-11 opened up next door recently. Also, my new travel card came in and I'm excited to use it for our hotel costs (which get reimbursed) plus other travel/restaurant expenses since it earns double points on that. We want to fly my grandparents down to see us (and baby) at the end of November and my mom might also need some financial help for plane tickets as well. Hopefully we can use rewards points!

  • Hey!! I finally got a decent night of sleep and my headache seems to be gone! Thank goodness!!
Good for you @ss145 stay strong!

I'm in full on maternity pants. It got to the point where I had a rubber band wrapped around the rubber band, and the zipper completely undone, and I said enough of this. Loving maternity leggings!
  • We got in late from an exhausting weekend. Still tired. I can't hang.

  • @ss145 I have always only allowed DH (or ex-DH) in the delivery room with me. As far as the week after, I was very selective who I let come over. I let my MIL and my best friend come over, because they are the types to help with dishes, getting the other kiddos to and from whatever they needed to do, and letting me sleep. But for everyone else, i put my foot down and kindly but firmly said "how about you come visit in a couple weeks, we're still figuring out breast feeding and trying to catch up on sleep." Everyone (for the most part) were very understanding. Stay strong with what you and DH want!
  • Good luck, @jess0211

I have also been in maternity pants for a couple weeks. Any pressure on my stomach was making my nausea worse, so spandex waistbands won.

  • I posted this in the last weekly randoms, but it was pretty buried and since most of you seem to in the NE I thought I'd repost it here. I found this free pregnancy gift box for people in the NE. https://www.noobiebox.com/

  • @ariasbabyblog that looks really fun! I think I'm going to have to order one for myself!
  • @shepersisted I have a tilted uterus (still a bit tilted as of right now) and my uterus is already pretty high. I'm definitely sporting a bigger bump than I should...as irritating as it is, I think I'm just going to have to deal with it and hope no one asks me how far along I am...I've been in maternity pants and dresses for a few weeks now.  It makes the bloat just a little less uncomfortable.  But it IS disheartening not to have the cute little bump I had the first time around.

@ss145 I don't plan on announcing the baby is born until much later in the day or even the next day.  Only my parents will know...and SO's parents but they live 18 hrs away.  It was much better that way with my son, so I was able to take it all in before being confronted with visitors.  I will also only have SO there with me.  My mom will watch my son.  Luckily, she's learned boundaries since having him 6 yrs ago.

I am sooooooo tired.  Maybe it's more of a symptom, but I'm not sleeping well and I have more to do than I have time for.  I need a month long vacation with a week of sleep.  Also, the cleaning people at my office moved all of the stuff around on my desk...I get it...but it's super irritating

DS1 is 7.  DD is 1.  DS2 is coming in late April.

Totally agree with everyone who's having wardrobe issues. I'm not ready for maternity stuff (nor do I own anything...) but I'm getting uncomfortable in normal clothes and hate having to figure out what to wear. I have some dresses that are comfortable but I feel self-conscious bc they do make me look kinda-bumpy but I feel like it's just gut and not bump so I don't want any comments on it just yet. I wore a really comfy dress yesterday and felt like I was sucking in the whole time. Totally counter productive! (and possibly insane)

I am having insane wardrobe issues and am just ready for dress season.
DH informed me yesterday that his whole family wants to be in the waiting room while I give birth. Here are my issues.
    1.his family is insane
    2. His "close" family consists of 20 people
3.i don't even know if I want him there yet
    4. I'm not giving birth at a hospital so I don't think there is even a waiting room at the birth centre
    5. Not one of them is on my side about my birth plan. Not one. They all want me in a hospital with an OB and an epidural. I have no problem with that for other people but I was raised in a community with midwives and giving birth isn't a huge medial thing to me, it's so natural and common so I have a hard time with them all wanting it to be how they want it to be.

Wardrobe issues here as well.  I have a pair of pants that are loose - I went to put them on and they wouldn't do up - the bulge is in the way even though they would fit otherwise.  I'm in maternity pants/dresses from here on out.  I'm still wearing regular but loose shirts because the maternity ones seem to big or they are tight and make it really obvious.  I think I just need to embrace the bump!

  • I've pretty much had to embrace the bump too. it's frustrating because I'm feeling so sensitive to being bigger this time and if someone makes a comments about looking further along, I will probably burst into tears.

  • I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but I've been in a mix of maternity pants/normal pants since 8 weeks. Tw**** I have them all from my last pregnancy, a loss. End TW*** they are just soooo much more comfortable. I'm getting noticably bigger now (to anyone who knows me irl) but I'm really self concious about it because it doesn't look like a baby bump.
  • Same you guys. I just look fluffy. I'm still in my regular clothes but mostly because the maternity waists only give me a more defined muffin top.
  • I need to get up and make dinner because I'm starting to get nauseous but I also like just sitting here. Also our cat is being all cute with the moving boxes, he loves climbing all over them.

  • @bcashaw  Oh hell no! The only person I permitted in the room was my DH, and he stood at my head. I would talk to your birth center and see if they will support your decisions about people in the room. My local hospital is amazing and have no issues blocking people YOU don't permit. It's my vagina on display, I decide who gets to see it, not the doctors or nurses or midwives, and not my DH, and certainly not his family. The thought of having my DH's family in the room with me makes me shudder and they are all lovely people if slightly, nicely insane.

  • @bcashaw DH will be the only one with me, just like DD2. With DD1 my mom came in because I was single and 18 and needed someone! It wasn't too awkward but I would never want my in laws in there.... or even my mom now. DH has an enormous family as well so I know how that is. Every small thing for just close family ends up like 40-50 people between both families.

@bcashaw we did a birth center and will again this time (or home birth with my mw group) if you have any questions feel free to PM me. I know there were definitely some things I'll pack this time that I didn't the first go round and things like that
  • I agree with wardrobe issues. My mom was so excited to buy me some maternity clothes so I let her but to be honest trying on maternity stuff Just made me feel fat.  My mom insists I have a bump. I think she is way more excited about this than I am at this point.

I'm with you all on the wardrobe issues. Maternity pants sag on me by the end of the day, but my regular pants are too tight, even with a hair band.  I'm mostly in skirts and dresses at this point--thank goodness it's warm enough here!  I did get a pair of under the belly maternity shorts at target the other day and they are awesome. Like regular shorts with a button and everything, but a hidden elastic waistband. Wish I could wear them to work!!

@BayCamp I'm planning on going the bikini wax route and trimming the rest with an electric trimmer (and guard). Normally it wouldn't be a problem but we'll be in GA all summer and I'm going swimming haha

eta: So my apartment isn't dirty or anything but it smells. It reminds me of cat pee but we don't have a cat. I'm mopping all the floors and washing all the dog stuff in case my Maltese peed somewhere. She isn't completely potty trained but she does go on a pee pad as long as I leave one out, which I do. If I forget she'll go on the floor where the pad usually goes and there's nothing there. I'm also wondering if it's just our neighborhood, Korea has....interesting smells (to put it politely). There are tons of stray cats around so maybe the smell is coming in from outside.
