AMA and worrying about everything!

Hi all!  I'm 5 weeks today.  This is my third pregnancy.. but I'm turning 40 in July (gulp!) so I'm really nervous about this one due to AMA (ugh- hate that term!)

My first appt isn't until 5/31 and I'm turning into a worrywart!  Just curious... anyone think it would be worthwhile to call office and ask for an Hcg level just make sure levels are going up?  just to ease my fears?

If it's going to ease your fears, then yes, call. The worst they can do is say no.  <3

  • Agreed. Do what calms your nerves. The benefit of being AMA is that we can sometimes get extra labs, etc to monitor.
  • I'm 40, will turn 41 in November just before I'm due. It's my first! I am really nervous too, but trying to take it one day at a time and stay in the moment.

I know I'm getting monitored and tested more regularly. Sure, why not ask.

    Take care!

  • I would do whatever is going to make you feel better!  Some food for thought though...I had a loss in January at 20 weeks and this go around I had my HCG tested multiple times. It never doubled when it was supposed to, it has been low and even dipped last weekend. I have now had 2 ultrasounds and baby is fine, measuring exactly from my ovulation day and heartbeat is strong. I've had 3 migraines in 5 days and 2 panic attacks due to the additional stress. I had a natural fear from my loss, being AMA-39 and no symptoms (this is my 4th pregnancy and I'm always sick), however the added stress of my numbers, which are highly subjective by the way, caused me so much stress I didn't need. If I were you I would try my hardest to wait until 7 weeks and fight for an ultrasound. This is so so hard and I would hate for your numbers to not be 'textbook' and have you stressing out even more. Sorry you are stressed :(
