Lymes disease and pregnancy

hi everyone,

i have been battlein lymes disease with 2  coinfections for 2 years now. I was almost done with treatment when to my surprise we got pregnant. Very very unexpected. We are super excited, but I am nervous that the bacteria will cross over to the baby.

My doctor who is treeating me said this this could be a possibility but had put me on azithromycin 1xdaily everyday and a supplement called Vital Guard, which is supposed to help protect the baby from this.

My OB has approved but this is the first time they are dealing with this. I am a first time mom so I am new at this. I am wondering if anyone else has had to deal with anything like this?

Re: Lymes disease and pregnancy

  • I don't have any experience or advice but I'm thinking about you and your lo. That's a whole lot of worry.

  • I have no experience here either but if I were you I would maybe try to find an OB that has dealt with this situation more. Maybe the doctor treating you for the LD has someone in mind? And if you love your OB you could potentially see two (and maybe you would only need an appointment or two with an OB with LD expereince?)...just my thoughts.

  • Thank you,

i recently moved over to Michigan and my LD is in NJ. So we communicate at this time via email and phone. For treatment I would fly back to NJ when needed.

i have called a few OB's close by and they also have not experienced someone with Lymes. thank you for the suggestion.  Just tons of prayers and hoping all goes well.
