I wanted to go to a tulip farm this Saturday but tickets are already sold out. So now I have no excuse to not pack. Lame.

  • I  really want to bitch about how my in-laws handled babysitting last night but -sigh- I know they thought they were doing the best they could and it was nice that they took him for us. But DS and I are both sleep-deprived and grumpy this morning as a result.

  • @ArtificialRed Oh no. We have to leave DS with my ILs overnight for the first time and I am nervous. I know it'll be fine, but now I need to hear your story so I can lay some more rules down.

  • I slept like crap last night because I woke up with an achy back and couldn't fall back asleep.... then I started thinking about the camping trip to the Redwoods we just booked yesterday and what if we are far away from the bathrooms and I need to pee in the middle of the night (which I always do) and I'll be afraid of either walking by myself or peeing in the woods because there's bears and mountain lions.
  • I already put mine in the random thread but it bears repeating because it's just that irritating. Why do some men think it's not necessary to use sunscreen on pale children? While I'm at it, why do some men think it's totally cool and ok to only see or speak to their children once every three months? And then, not let that child see his half brother because he's sleeping. Ex saw DS for a little bit yesterday, took him to a fair, and didn't use sunscreen. DS is sunburned pretty bad. I'm glad he had fun since he hasn't seen his dad since his baby brother was born in February, but seriously...at least attempt to take care of him. He also sends him home with a nerf-type gun after each visit. I'm convinced it's to torture me.

DS1 is 7.  DD is 1.  DS2 is coming in late April.

I don't think you'll have the same problem lol.  My in-laws started with DS at their house and were supposed to bring him back to ours to get ready for bed and at least attempt to get him to sleep for us. But they brought the wrong damn key to our house and were like "gee, we can't get in the house" so they took him back to their house and just waited for us.

Thank GOD for this freaking thread today. I don't know whether I am in a mood or what but here are the ppl on my sh*tlist today:

-my in-laws who think I run a bed and breakfast and are making food/accommodation requests for their annual visit. What bothers me most is that their visit is contingent upon us complying - otherwise they have no prob cancelling on their grandson and son who love them. I could care less and frankly it would make life a lot easier for me.

-my au pair who thinks that childcare consists of letting my son watch elmo videos on her phone ALL DAY. I am sending her butt back home.

-my team at work who needs to be totally coddled and "sold" on doing their jobs. DO YOUR JOB. You get paid. I shouldn't have to sell you on sh*t.

OMG I obvs drank angry juice for breakfast...

My SIL and her family moved down from Alabama yesterday/today. They called to ask if we could help unload the u-haul, except they all have a stomach bug and ummm no I don't want anyone in my house exposed to that. Thanks. I feel bad not helping (or let's be honest, DH not helping) but seriously, their 10 hour drive took them 2 days because at least one of them was puking at any given point. Nope.
  • All I am saying is thank freakin' goodness it's a 3 day work week for me because I am sooooooo over all of this

  • Wtf is up with Carter's trend towards footless pajamas??? Don't they know how annoying baby socks are?? I'm debating ordering anything during their big sale and I'm seriously disgruntled by the sleeper selection.

@ArtificialRed Footy pajamas aren't very safe. When DD1 was 1 month old she got a hair tourniquet around her second to last toe. It ended up being the same size as her big toe before we could get her to the ER. The plastic surgeon had to come in, basically chop her toe in half, and then reconstruct it in order to make sure the hair was gone (blonde hair so couldn't easily be seen). I've heard this is common with footed pajamas because hair clumps up in them during wash.

Edit to add: I live in WI so I know they are convenient but socks aren't bad either.  ;)

Seriously??? I don't know that I dressed #2 in anything but footie PJs for the first few months of his life.

  • I've caught a cold and as selfish as it is I really wish my  mom lived close so she could bring me chicken noodle soup. DH just recovered from his cold and I'm grumpy I caught it from him. Now I'm off to go make my own damn chicken soup.

@rms924 wow. Just wow. Can't believe they won't just stay at (get this!) an ACTUAL B&B. Where you PAY so the service is expected. How rude to expect all that from you! That would tick me right off. And your au pair and co workers... i think I have to go have an angry cry on your behalf.

  • @av2323 I completely agree!  And what's worse- I took Friday "off" so technically I HAD a three day weekend.  It was just spent with DH, my MIL, DD, and CPS having me run errands like a chicken with my head cut off and my family making a surprise visit into town for the weekend... meanwhile DH came back from a bachelor's party weekend with a sore throat so he took a sick day today....
Also- had lunch with an old coworker/friend to catch up and told her we were expecting (which I assumed she knew since it's been on FB for almost a month now) and her response was "Oh!  That's why your face is looking fat." I know to take her with a grain of salt, but really??!

@Perfectypo I am sorry you are feeling sick! It's no fun especially when  you prob (I am making an assumption) have other discomforts w pregnancy!

Bless you. Seriously, it's so strange for me. I come from a culture where hospitality is very important but it's considered very rude to make requests of your hosts. MIL makes me a grocery list (w expensive items) and last time when SIL/BIL visited, they made me an extra long list. This was at 8 weeks pp where I went back to work and they came to visit and I did all the grocery shopping, pick ups at the airport plus errands while having an 8 week old baby at home and work. This year they requested a new bed because our guest bed is too uncomfortable. Insert eye roll here.

@zigzag8412 wtf? that's so rude! This was covered in another post but bears repeating. People think it's ok to say whatever they want to pregnant women.

  • @zigzag8412 I would have shot a not so nice comment back at her. So rude!
@rms924 I would tell them to stay at a hotel or buy the bed themselves.

My students seem to think school is over and aren't putting effort into anything but talking and wandering around the room. School doesn't end until June 21 and many are failing because they don't think they need to turn in work. I had to mass email the parents to check grades and have a talk with their kids.

  • The fact that I'm still having all day sickness. I'm so over this I believe by now with my first pregnancy I was on the verge of feeling great but this pregnancy seems as if I might be sick the whole time. On top of that I only got 4-5 hours of sleep because my 16 month old daughters Sid's monitor kept going off because she was to far off the senor pad and then when I moved her for the second time she woke up for four hours I had to go in like every 15 mins to soothe her because she would wake up or she would be having a night terror so didn't get to actually sleep till 4 am. Just want to feel good again and have an appetite and not be riding the struggle bus in mom life because I feel sick ok done complaining.

We caved and went to help SIL move. Her SO's family was there and all just sat around talking to each other while DH carried wicked heavy stuff up alone and I helped sort things in to different rooms and unpack boxes. They kept saying "you shouldn't be moving/lifting that" well damn, someone has to, or else all these boxes and bags are just going to pile up by the door and the guys won't be able to bring in the big things.

@rms924 and I was feeling bad about asking my MIL to pick up a few things like dog food (in case it gets confiscated at customs) and some foods I've been liking to eat for pregnancy. We fly from Korea to Boston in a few weeks and I know she would get it all, but besides dog food I can wait for the rest.

  • My DH has to live away from home because of work. He said he'd look for work close to home when he got pregnant. So far, he doesnt "like" the sound of any of them. But he wont look for them....i do and send him the job links.  But every week he complains that he didn't like leaving me and gets upset cause he'll be living away from the baby. I get it. Tough position. BUT today i think He's being a child. Either put real effort into finding work. Or admit you love your job and stop saying you'll look for work closer. Also, stop making me feel like i can't be upset about this.

I can't get cranky about it cause I don't want to put pressure on him or make him feel worse, but i find this hard too. I'm raising 3 kids on my own with a 4th on the way. Some days i don't want to be alone either.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BUY FIDGET SPINNERS FOR 6$ AND THEN TAKE THEM TO SCHOOL AND SELL THEM TO THE OTHER KIDS FOR 15$ EACH.
If I actually need to explain the reasoning behind this statement to my 13 year old stepson one more time I will rip all of my hair out. If I have to say it one more time and get attitude back again I'm gonna flip out. We have been having this conversation for two Hours. TWO HOURS. In that two hours I bathed the baby while he stood there arguing with me to drive him to go buy them so he can sell them. THEN I read the baby her book. He sat there begging the whole time. THEN HE GAVE ME ALL THE REASONS WHY HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT WHILE THE BABY SCREAMED AND I SAT OUTSIDE HER BEDROOM SAYING SHHHHHH FOR 45 MINUTES .
    I'm done.
  • We are on a road trip and it hits me that I need to eat right this second and I also need to pee. My husband says "you can't wait til we get there in 45 minutes?" I could've burned a hole in his head with my death glare. Then he ordered me the wrong food.
  • slavenslaven member
@ooodalollly I hate road trips. A few weeks ago we drove 4 hours to Seoul. Our return drive was 6 hours because of traffic and I had to spend a day in bed just to recover. DH was nasty too because of the traffic which didn't help my mood. Not looking forward to our drive from MA to GA in June.

I missed this yesterday but I have a BF to get off my chest. Saturday was our 11th anniversary. DH planned a camping Daddy Daughter camping trip the 5th into the 6th (our anniversary) with some friends. Fine, our daughter loves those but let's make plan she for the evening. After tossing around a few ideas he says he is going to make a special lasagna for us when he gets back from camping. I say please leave the recipe so DS and I can get the ingredients and we won't be rushing to get dinner on the table. He didn't leave it. He also didn't text me Happy Anniversary the morning of. My parents ended up coming and taking the kids and we went out for a fun Korean BBQ dinner but I was so steamed with DH.
